Moving 1 Billion Civilians
« on: July 01, 2014, 08:29:48 PM »

For those who have looked at moving large number of folks using BT technology, what sized fleet would it take to move 1 Billion people in 15 years, with each JS and its DS's able to make 3 runs per year using average sized JS and DS and not worrying about supplies bar those for the trip?

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

3 trips per year, per vessel, so with LFB, 16 jumps max, or 480LY.

16 jumps out with LFB, about 8 weeks, same back.  48 weeks +4 spare for three trips.

So about a year then. Well if you go with a Mammoth transporting about 5,000 people (see thread below) and times that by 9 for the amount carried on a Monolith you'd get 45,000.

Their might be a way to increase that number per ship but your still talking a bunch (23,000 by my count) of ship groupings (9 Mammoths and 1 Monolith) to get to a billion.

I found the most efficient way was command chains since it reduces the food needed to for the people being needed.

You'd have to factor in unloading and loading the ships too as well as travelling to and from the JumpShips.  So I'd say a minimum of 2 weeks on top of any travel time for that

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.
