The Coyotes are screwed, badly, but that has seemed to be their lot in life throughout most of their post-Golden century history.

The biggest problem with the Homeworld factions post-Reaving? Two out of the four factions seem...kind of boring. That's not great for encouraging players to leap into the era and explore.

On the quickest way for the Home World Clans to bounce back and actually grow.

Go to Space.

Orbital colonies would help curtail the high death rate from the extremely marginal worlds the HWC inhabit, helping population growth.

From the Clan point of view as well Orbital Colonies let you subdivide the population into smaller more controllable segments and have the added benefit of reducing over all causalities if you have to purge an orbital of undesirables.

Then you add in an actual need for a disciplined, safety conscious, and orderly society deep space living requires.  Perfect for the Police State the Clanners run.

Not to mention all the free floating resources in space.

Why not trade with the Scorpions for more resources?

And I am afraid that this Civil War means refoundation is needed.

Sorry bud it is just too neat and clean for me. The Society's revolt has consequences. It wasn't just Coyote Scientist Caste who may have lead the entire thing (still don't know how they survived). So a purge is a purge and to me the remainder can in no way be as strong as the whole was. Yes the War of Reaving introduced some new high tech pieces for good reason which can be studied for the future but that proves my point. Your already looking back at a possible high water mark. The new "loyal" scientist caste utterly fanatical to their Clan ain't likely to be revolutionary in their research. So for me looking at the story line I can't justify the Homeworld Clans outpacing anyone when it comes to science be it military or otherwise.

A loyal scientist caste fanatical to their Clan and bent on invasion has all the motivation it needs to innovate. Before the Reavings the Clans were already starting to pick up the science pace. First, with Clan versions of IS toys and then some of their own.

WoR Supplemental is already alluding to integrating Society Tech and looking at some of their other research. The Adder's commitment to invasion and the relative small size of the Homeworld Cland means their tech needs to get scary good if they want a fighting chance at success.

Nope. No sliding there. It's up, up and away!

Well I could certainly see some Clan refinement of Inner Sphere tech. I just don't see the Homeworld Clans on their own being a threat to anyone. If the Clans united again under a strong leader well we have another story.

Well there's one way the homeworld clans can build up their lower cast base in a hurry and thats invade and conquor the Scorpions and then the Hansa before they start looking at the inner sphere.

I would sincerely hope not. That would be wasting a perfectly awesome opportunity to have the Scorpions be something different, just to bring it back under the boring aegis of Star Adder's unified "purity" vision. Can we tell I'm not a fan of Clan Davion?

Edit: Rainbow 6 is right. That's a bit harsh, and unfair. I just remember reading Star Adder in FM: CC when first introduced and thinking "Huh. These folks are pretty interesting, with a focus on retaining their SLDF heritage alongside the Clan evolution." The spotlight they were given in the Blood Spirit conflict, alongside their time in WoR wasn't exactly flattering, as I felt it left them very flat and lacking a hook. Much like MadCap mentioned elsewhere about giving the Davions a culture, I find the Davions and the Star Adders to both suffer from lack of a hook, be it a flaw or even just something that stands out, especially once the novels are factored in.

Dude, you've heard of the Clan's RAC right? Already happened/happening.

The Homeworld Clans are a threat simply because they are united in their desire to invade the Inner Sphere. It's a stated goal, even among the Bastions. It's just a matter of timing. Give the Homeworld Clans enough time to rebuild and they're a serious threat.

They might not be successful in their stated goals, but could you imagine a combined Homeworld force slamming into the rear of the Occupation Zone?! Ouch.

I think I'm more excited by the prospect of a Homeworld offensive versus the Dark Age clans, who are very different beasts indeed. That has some very interesting possibilities. And ramifications.
