As is mine and if you want more specifics I think it is passed time that designs and certain weapon systems be "culled". I think the universe could use some extinction for systems and Mechs who have seen their day. Developments come and go.

I don't know about weapon systems,. for example standard lasers are viable weapons right now (though we will have to see what the aformentioned 3rd generation tech brings).  standard autocannons should only go away if Ultras can fire special munitions on single fire (and Ultras need to unjam in the field)

standard one shot SRMS absolutly should go the way of the dinosaur, and the A and B pod need to be merged into the AP Pod

I disagree with Takiro.
They are part of the universe and should remain part of it as long as they are not outdated.

and that is the crux of the poll, by the turn of the 33rd century of the universe (which will come MUCH FASTER it seems then the turn of the 32nd) what designs will be declared outdated and not get a 3rd gen upgrade?

The big question is... Will there be an upgrade or is this more of herb messing?

The way i see it there is plenty scope still in the game without changing they dynamics of everything what will we have future battletech and classic battletech? Doesn't make any sense to me

Right now you can pick up a Primitive Age of War design and field it against a Jihad design.  It wouldn't be a fair fight but they both are governed by the same rules

"3rd gen" makes me think of April fools

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

That's because it was part of the last April Fool's product.

Do I think the base tech could use an overhaul? Yeah, the game needs to move forward. Is this the way to do it? No clue. I'm not buying it much at the moment, simply because that's way too much info for a spoiler from Herb.

I think you are missing the point of all those designs - they are not necessarily concurrent.  Some exist in one era, other exist in another era.  The game is such that you can play in *any* era and there will be machines available.

The Unseen belong to the Succession Wars and just after the Clan Invasion.  Machines that are still effective can be re-imaged.  Styling cues can be retained and new images created by artists out there.  I have done this and it turned out pretty good.

Exactly Herb and the other devs won't even give out stats for the Ancestral Home and Leviathan Prime because they "may" appear later and need to be retconned

In the main scheme of things a Warship is a very minor piece of puzzle.  An entire upgrade of everything spoken about so openly would be a huge thing to be retconned if things were to be changed.

I find it fascinating just how close this poll is, I honestly thought it would be the top and bottom in a dead heat with few in the middle road options.

Still, 18 votes is not a great sample size. Perhaps try it at CBT as well, for greater sample size, and then duck as the comments start.

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.
