Why would it change from canon?

Cause it is an alternate universe and it was during the Quicksilver Trials where some strange designs began to appear that folks began to take notice. The developing Watches of the Clans are investigating these anomalies which may reveal the Society to all or maybe not. Here I was asking what was the level of infiltration in each Clan as of 3052 or a bit later to determine near future events.

I didn't mean to not recognise the alternate universe but I am not sure Quicksilver Trials are enough to change the power balance.

You are quite right Ice. This isn't the Reavings that threatened to reveal all about the Society. Quicksilver merely is enough for the developing Watches of the Clans to start paying attention. The question I am asking is what are they paying attention too?

Lets talk Ice Hellion for example. Does the Society reach into that Clan and if so how deeply?

Perhaps although my own Armoury is immune to it.

What do we have?
A need for speed and quick decisions made by the Warriors but not by the civilians.
A pack mentality that binds together the pack members, a capacity to hold together when threatened and inter castes relations on a certain equal level even if Warriors think they are superior to the corrupted ways of the Merchants or if the Labourers and Scientists feel under-appreciated; in the end, they are supportive of each other.
However the packs can fight among themselves because of their difference in opinion, harsh decisions and quick anger.

Snow Raven      5   Machiavellian tendencies makes me think this is a potential hotspot

While I think the Ravens definitely had some society influence, I don't think it's quite this high.  I would probably put it at 3.5-4 and for the same reason you stated.  Machiavellian tendencies suggests everyone keeping an eye on everyone else (knowledge of what to hold over everyone else is power).  This makes it very difficult for the society to truly get off the ground in the clan until it starts getting really chaotic, just one hardline bloodhouse alliance would force the annihilation of external influence - either by the discovering bloodhouse, or the bloodhouse it was in to get rid of potential influence over it.

That said, we know that when the society started to show their hand, there was roughly a cluster (at least) that bore Raven colors.

The only thing that might make me think that the Ravens would have some Society infiltration is Circe. Especially if you see the Society as a Wolverine creation this could mean the Ravens picked up agitators which would have been the seeds of their problem. The Ravens do salvage everything since they are a poor Clan which means the odds are good this could have happened but that same lack of resources could hamper scientific freedom and subsequent Society growth.

Did I miss anything?

Well there are two thoughts perhaps three on how the Society got it start.

1. Coyote. Now BattleTechWiki citing various canon sources seems to accuse Coyote as being the source of the Society which began with the Versailles Pact. Little is known of this agreement which peacefully bought this Babylonian city into the Clan during Operation Klondike but it is speculated that these were the seeds of the Society which took root. The Clan's close proximity to the Society on Tamaron and its eventually collaboration with them during the Wars of Reaving could be powerful evidence in this theory's favor. Link below;

2. Wolverine. In the link below JPArbiter and myself had a great exchange regarding the Society. He proposes that the Wolverines began the organization following the Annihilation when sterilized scientists absorbed into other Clans may have been able to spread their ideas. Don't know if you ever saw Captain America Winter Soldier but it is sort of like Hydra after the 2nd WW using Operation Paper Clip to work for the west. This does make a certain amount of sense and for evidence just look at former Wolverine possessions like Circe which is a hotbed of Society influence.

3. General Movement. Perhaps neither of those factions or any Clan is directly responsible for giving birth to the Society. Scientists could have come to the same conclusion on their own after watching how the warriors ruled them for several years. Hey we should be in charge is a very human reaction to totalitarian rulers who allow no outward political dissatisfaction to creep up. There are numerous historical incidents were the warrior caste brutalizes the lesser castes and the intelligenca could easily say hey we can do better.

Another theory I have is Widowmaker could also be a culprit as another disaffected faction absorbed into the Clans following their destruction. Ironhold is another stonghold of the Society and it was a Widowmaker world but it could have really been a combination of all of these factors. Disaffected scientific personnel who in at least two cases may have been sterilized could have wanted to sow the seeds of rebellion eventually and started pouring poison in the ears of anyone who would listen. While we may never know for certain it is all quite plausible.

I'd lean towards number three

So after reading through pages of material to catch up to around 3080. The Society isn't the big bad wolf that I was expecting. Yes they were a contributor but I didn't realize that Steel Viper went all Nazi on the clans. Never would have expected them to cause so much destruction. While I was happy Star Adder became such a power in the aftermath I am not happy with the outlook of the Clan in regards to the Bastion ideology, not that Im a fan of the aggressor philosophy either.

Yeah I was rereading Wars of Reaving and it seems like a much more generalized movement even though it is strongest in Coyote.
