OMG what a fantastic read I went cover to back in one sitting then have started a second look through already
All I can say is writers this is AWESOME!! Reunification War, KLONDLIKE, Wars of Reaving, Final Reckoning and Terra were all awesome reads for me but I think this one may have just pushed it beyond what I was expecting.
The book draws you into an era I honestly was never hugely interested in - it was the distant distant past that kept getting changed slightly as time went by and what source material there was was inaccurate or vague.
This book is completely different an arcing story that takes you deep into the campaign and the difficulties of everything that happens. With so many potential branches for AUs (as someone who tries that kinda stuff, I see the potential).
The sidebar stories, accounts and add on parts are great and just for the SLS Dreadnought's story is the Galactica's down to the fire aboard the ship from a suicide run (from the original ship) to the sections of the ship turned into a museum (the new one) and refuelling at a Jupiter (the mini-series refuelling in a gas giant) to the ship's end as the Galactica's should have been. Great story for a famous ship and perfect way for it to bow out.
The Art work is wonderful, particular favorite of mine is Aleksandr Kerensky at a see through map drawing the strategies to come on the screens with his fingers the look of determination and strength is quite inspiring and really brings him alive to me
the maps look awesome also screaming to me Lone Star - jewel of the Star League (one of many) nuked to the brink of destruction then abandoned - don't suppose it's one of the 5?
Then the cream on top of it all.... DRONES!! Not the Blakists attempts and copies but true kicking and screaming drones - and there pretty nasty. As nasty as they were described as before - I want a fleet of them :S
Anyway this is a thanks to the writers and developers this book really is great looking forward to part II
