But that's what holds the site together. :)

He's not "gone," just not the Lead Developer anymore.

Exactly, frankly if his stepping down was anything less then amicable I doubt he would have been facebooking Randall Bills while Mr Bills was going gaga at PAX

If Herb voluntarily stepping down wasn't due to burnout,  my next guess would be that he somehow ticked off someone at Topps and was forced to step down...

And that guess would be flat-out wrong.

Hmm.  Interesting that you chime in on just that guess...

Thank you for that enlightenment Ghost, granted I thought the above hypothesis was asinine from the get go, but it is always nice to have a semi official smacking down.

I typically chime in when outright stupid information is put out there as "discussion" to keep it from being even remotely considered as a rumor.

See, I just ignore the thread.  :D

Clearly, my Ostrich defense requires some revising...

Personally I don't think it is unreasonable for the typical Battletech player to want to know why the lead developer for that game line suddenly steps down from that position (and remains with Catalyst Game Labs).

If you think that a semi-official denial to just one speculation will help dispel it, then more power to you :)

Normally I don't rise up to this form of bait, but as a privately held company, IMR, and by extension CGL, do not have to disclose any information about how they do business. If they wanted us, the fans and consumers. to know, they would have told us. Their business is their business, not ours. Speculation doesn't do anyone any good. It just creates ill will

What ER said and also the fact that Mr. Beas only owes an explanation to his boss and no one else, despite what others might think otherwise.

Is it reasonable to want to know why someone in a semi spotlited has stepped down from their position?  yes.  The question you and other fans have to ask themselves is is it reasonable for Catalyst, and Mr Beas to not tell you.

if you answer "no" to that question, well I hate to tell you this, but you are wrong.
