Succession Wars Board game, possible???
« on: November 13, 2013, 07:02:55 PM »

for those that have not been paying attention to the BG website given it's silence

http://bg.battletech.com/?p=5266

I think I just peed a little.  this is exciting, particularly since it is not a rehash of the old rules but a new board game done Fantasy Flight style...  Dear Catalyst, KICKSTART THIS BITCH!

Wow.  This would be very cool if it came to fruition.

Depending upon the level of difficulty and learning curve, this could be a fun way to play in the BT Universe with friends or family that normally wouldn't be up for the traditional tabletop BT experience.  Could you imagine a christmas with grandma and the cousins all sitting around playing the succession wars board game!?  Would be fun.

It's going straight to the pool room.

Interesting, I liked the game but it took forever to set up.

WANT!

My wife loves board games - I wonder how much effort it will take to get her to play?

CGL is so overwhelmed with trying to get product out, I doubt we will see this until 2015. Interstellar Operations is not done yet after more than two years of being worked on. Housebook Kurita is all written, I believe, and still has not gone to print AFAIK. Heck, they can't even keep the BT introductory box set in stock/production (and, yes, I know that they are switching to a new manufacturer which is still in China. go back to cardboard counters and print in the US, goshdarnit)

Does one mind keeping the rampant CGL bashing to their forums, where there is a thread where the sky is apparently falling again?  Unless you have hard data to back up your assertions, just steer clear of it if you could please.

It gets old real fast.

Ironically, I've fairly recently started playing Succession Wars via Scrapyard Armory.

Like most online games it's kind of slow and there are some definite clunky aspects, but an update? I keep throwing money at the screen (bank notes only) hoping it will come to me.

It is an Australian in joke from the movie The Castle. It is what you might call the billiards room.

The cards in the picture have an awful lot of text, so the game may be more card-based than chit-based. Something like the Game of Thrones boardgame, maybe? That one's fun enough.

CGL is so overwhelmed with trying to get product out, I doubt we will see this until 2015. Interstellar Operations is not done yet after more than two years of being worked on. Housebook Kurita is all written, I believe, and still has not gone to print AFAIK. I think Randall's envisioning the game as a way to reach a new part of the market, which should actually do more to ease those cashflow issues you mentioned than would switching to weaker components. CGL has already gotten their feet wet with Balance of Power and The Duke so I figure they know what the risks are.
