WE MUST GIVE THEM ALL OF THE MONIES!!!!  *Mrsarbiter slaps me*

ahem.

for those that do not know, I led the charge in funding the Mk I LAMs (still in process, since my banning on the Btech Forums I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THE STATUS OF THAT!)  but now IWM seems to have sights set bigger.  I say give them every opportunity.  Arbitration Studios is evaluating our finnances to figure a contribution as we speak

If I found any of the WoB Omni-stuff in anyway aesthetically pleasing, I would contibute. However, I find the Celestial, Spectrals and Demon to be unpleasing to my eye. I'm not liking the new artistic vision of BT.

I was waiting for my account to get approved to make my post here about it. You beat me to it.

As for the MKI's, will still be done as of now the traditional sculpting way. The back log on the Fan Financed items is getting smaller. There are a few that are in the sculpting stages now.

Here is the link to the Officale Announcement on IWM site

Didn't realize you were banned, I don't remember seeing you cause any trouble. . .

Anyways, pity to see that plans to have the original LAMs done up in 3d goodness fell through.
Which modes are we getting when conventional sculpting starts on these?  It's been a while so I don't remember if all were funded or just mech and fighter.

I would argue for the most part I didn't.  at best I earned maybe a third of the infractions.

if memory serves me we raised enough for all three modes of the Hawk, Wasp, and Stinger.  the Shad got left in the dust.

Oh right.  Shad was just a prototype anyways; lower priority.

I really want to get that $185 package with the works, but I just don't have the cash now :(
Can't afford my metal crack, though I haven't painted anything yet anyways, so I'm already backlogged.

I have added a new article to IWM website about the process to have the Spectral LAM's made into miniatures from the CAD files.

The below post is from the official Battletech forum that I posted about the MkI LAM's

The MKI LAMs that are funded are scheduled to be sculpted in the traditional manor. With the back log of items to be sculpted that where fan financed getting smaller, the LAM's will be coming up. The MKI's will still be done and are not forgotten about.

The original plan when the idea of using the 3D CAD files to make the miniatures from it. Was to do the Spectral and the MKI LAM's , but after disappointing results earlier last year the project of using the 3D CAD went into limbo. Due heavy from the several factors that caused the original Waneta to come out one peice and with Prototyper lines on it. These lines carried over onto the metal master and the overall details on the mech were poor. The one in the mini cabinet from Gen Con was that mini done in metal with a lot of work to it.

The solution to the problem that were discovered, was to have the CAD file broken up and adjusted to allow them to make a better miniature. Around the time of Gen Con they found a company in Ohio who was able to do the need work and also could RTV them with out the Prototyper lines that would show up in the metal master. This would also increase the cost of doing each version of the Spectral LAM's so the decision was made to do a Kickstarter for them. Depending on how successful the Kickstarter is will depend if more can be done using this method.

well I threw my Money in.

Expect Pictures, Interviews, and Shennanigans with the IWM crew at Gencon 2013, presuming this gets funded.  or I might just offer to play a game with them anyway.

If possible, I might see you there. I'm making a concerted effort to actually make GenCon this year.

Meh.  LAMs just are not my cup of coffee, for various reasons.  I'll keep putting my money into more traditional miniatures for the game. But good luck to the rest of you!

for me this is not so much about LAMs (which I actually despise) or the Word of Blake (which I love) but the potential of using a 3D printer service to make more detailed and better quality master molds, while more expensive the hand sculpting, being able to pull this off with the artist who use CAD software to make their work (like Stephen Huda) we can find ourselves getting some of the more elaborate and hard to place miniatures as a result.  it will never replace hand sculpting, but it could be an awesome supplement, and that rests on whether or not this project succeeds or fails.
