Title: Technical Readout 3054: Quicksilver Trials
Post by: Takiro on May 16, 2016, 06:48:22 PM
Hey gang, just wanted to let everyone know how this latest fan project of ours is going. On April 30th I received a non to rude Private Message from Wildfire offering to help with the layout of Technical Readout 3054: Quicksilver Trials. He had gone ahead and done a little audition gathering everything I had post on this site into one PDF complete with cover image (I'll get back to that in a moment). After chatting with Ice Hellion who had been formatting our files the best he could - we agreed to let Wildfire run with it. With Ice taking up the post of Chief Editor and Siden Pryde doing our kitbashing we are making good progress. So far we've completed 37 designs and got a nice little PDF going. Only 50 more to go! Most your already familiar with and I am just adding a few touches to each of the winners of the challenges you've see posted here.

Total design count is 87 if your curious. 10 Conventional Vehicles, 7 OmniVehicles, 16 IIC BattleMechs, 15 Quicksilver BattleMechs, 23 OmniMechs, 6 Aerospace Fighters, 10 OmniFighters.

And now back to cover images which are both heisted from DeviantArt. I'd love to credit the artists but I don't know who they are. Anyway the first image is cover Wildfire put together for his audition, pretty good. The second is what I had already envisioned for the cover. Which do you like? Or do you have a third choice.

Love to hear what you guys think!

Number 2!

already I vote for Number 1 since the Nova Cat is outside the period the book covers by about 5 years

1 looks better I think, it's more of an action shot than 2.

I think I grabbed the first image from shimmering sword? on deviant art, the guy who did a lot of the recent covers for TRO 3145 series.

Any way glad to be helping out. :)

Actually the Hell Cat (known as the Nova Cat in the canon universe) will be making its premier in this book along with other designs like the Black Mamba (formerly known as the Blood Asp), the Crimson Langur, the Savage Coyote, and the Scylla. All were accelerated for the Quicksilver Trials for one reason or another which you will see in their fluff.

With that said the Timber Wolf has a part to play in the Quicksilver Trials as well so it works. Plus we could always credit shimmering sword. Thanks Wildfire!

Please keep the input coming.

I like the Nova Cat better but I'm bias

...Given that the Mad Cat image has been used so much, in so many products, I actually favor the Nova Cat.

Well the Nova Cat or rather Hell Cat in this book is trending. Still the Mad Cat is up 4-2. A lot of cats.

Another vote for the Hellcat. The Timber Wolf is so yesterday.

This first image you had up was done by Anthony Scroggins. That's his sig in the bottom right corner

I am working on it. Developing the Free Worlds League Civil War is getting most of my time right now. Actually with the forums down now perhaps I can start my next design contest for people who like those sort of things.

Essentially I am looking for a reconfiguration of the Fire Moth (Dasher). ;)

Slow and steady my friend.

Thankfully Red Pins is on board now and he is helping out big time.

Also I can tell you the project has expanded to Quicksilver Upgrades. Contest #9 went up last night and it focuses on reconfiguring existing OmniMechs.

I can't help it.  I'm at home on workers comp and bored as hell.  You have no idea how much I'm online hoping Trump did something stupid in the last 15 minutes.  I'm checking NAFTA a lot right now too, and started on Davos this afternoon.  The fact that the big.battletech board is down means I can't even lurk, no new fiction I'm watching on spacebattles, and the library hasn't brought in my out-of-town book, Terminal Alliance (Janitors of the apocalypse) by Hines.

Speaking of, I'm off to bed early tonight, so my Coyotl entry and the sorting/organizing of the Mist Lynx will be done tomorrow.  Maybe the Overview, depending.

*Please, let the bg forum be up...  Or maybe some Young Turks on you Tube.

Lets leave the whole /pol/ thing right there.  I found myself tempted to comment, and it just isn't a good idea.

Yes, This.

I rather enjoy lurking here w/o having to wonder who got banned for real life political dis-agreements.
