I've commissioned a friend and artist to draw a character in the Falcon's field uniform

Which looks fine but there's something about the cape that just seems a bit off. I brought this up with a friend of mine and he agreed there's something 'off' about the cape, and then he suggested "Why not have a Jasper cape?" and I had no idea what he was talking about. Then he showed me this.

And that, as a cape works. The Falcon's cape seems to come down from behind the shoulders or at least the nape of the neck, with no obvious clasp or fastening, not something that can be removed, but physically part of the uniform.
So instead of just copying the uniform verbatum (and ending out looking like something from Battle of the Planets, how about incorperating the 'jasper cape' and having it be an over the shoulders cape with the three falcon claw things atop that.
I think it would look a bit better stylisically and avoids just copying the original design.
Any thoughts?

Go for the aesthetical approach.

So I assume you mean the proper cape rather than the Battle of the Planets affair?

I think he means go for the option that looks the most pleasing to your eyes.
As for what you see, I agree, it appears that the cloak is permanently attached. But this also appears intentional, looking at the front of the dress uniform, the yellow outlines a beak and a pair of claws invoking the image of a bird of prey in a catching dive. I imagine the cloak attaching to the back of all three points - the back of the claws and beak.

Oh good point and yeah, I always assumed the claws were the shoulder clasps, but i'll speak with my artist friend and see what she can come up with and what looks better either the BoP one or the 'Garnet Cloak' style.
