Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Read this earlier today. Liked the disclosure of several different directions that are or were under consideration.

Meh.

Its interesting they feel the anxiety needs a response, but it didn't come out and actually do something about it, if you ask me.  Probably the most significant part of it to me was the first question.  As long as I have stats for my regular game, I can live with it.  Otherwise, there's going to be heck to pay.

I think we're going to see more along those lines if honest as things go on.  I think it took a week for about 10 discussion threads to appear regarding the time jump - I'm not sure if even Herb thought it would be of that much interest considering its way over a year away and there's still the DA to consider.

Seeing the reactions I think they've realized that this jump is as big as deal as when the Clans were introduced it knocks everything on its head in terms of news.

It's interesting to see what was considered.  I'm glad they are avoiding the total reboot idea THAT I think would have killed the game.  Restarting an alternate timeline would have royally pissed me off - AUs are for us (the fans and players) leave them to OBT  ;D lol

it isn't anxiety that they are experiencing so much as it is acknowledging "Hey, things are going to be changing now that we are completely unshackled by prior companies work."

Considering Battletech Sales have grown, despite several nut punches Catalyst has gotten from other parties, there really is no reason to panic at all.

'Anxiety' is not 'change'.  Ben Rome is involved - I am prepared to have the fluff knock my socks off.  I guess I should clarify, that since according to the little note dashed off by Randall (?), the 3250 box set will have rules more in line with Battleforce.

...And what about a 'nut punch' from, say, embezzelement?

the embezzelment from 2010 (FACTS ARE CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF), the retake the unseen disaster, the loss of Doug Chaffee, Hiccups with the Box Set thanks to the Chinese Government's control over manufacturing and printing... there are quite a few things CGL has had to endure...

The blog is damage control from the screw up they brought to themselves by their own actions. It said that they are ready scurry to any direction whenever wind blows. Its real implication is that whenever anything is leaked or implied they can rewrite it or drop it or change it as soon as possible if fan base does not like it.

Pretty much, they have seen the reactions on the forums and likely at games - everyone is asking the same question.  After the DA where are we going?

If it's anything like the stuff leaked in Free Taiw... St. Ives I'll probably be turned off at least initially I don't like the look of the 3rd Gen stuff they are talking about.  But you never know it could turn out well like the Jihad did.

Side note no-one commented on the thread name :(

"The Future.... the Undiscovered Country" where we're heading :) oh well back to the drawing board ;D

For me it is an exciting time to be a Btech fan, simply cause we know NOTHING about what will happen from here on in in terms of plot.

...Possible.  Certainly been done elsewhere before.

...Never occurred to me.  If you had called it, "The Undiscovered Country", I would have caught it.  And it was a terrible movie - bad omen, there.

Basing anything on a project where Herb gives me a few ideas and says 'make it funny and somewhat playable' is really going to do nothing but give you nothing but issues. My biggest concern was making sure Ben was burning hooks and a Dutchman was kidnapping children, all in the name of a greater good. The emphases on badminton was just a bonus.
