Probably some major production lines as well, if they can get them working again.

Sorry bud. Those were reduced to radioactive slag, or worse. No salvaging there, unless you're salvaging for cancer.

Bugger!

Was hoping to find a way to get the Celestial's back :'(

One of the old Rim Worlds bases from ISP3 Blakists used it for training maintenance and construction, you stumble over it welcome back  ;)

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Not me. They introduced an aesthetic that I'm still not getting over and likely never will. Combine that with the loathing I have for the WoB in general and the MD specifically, there's no reason for me to ever see those Mechs ever come back.

Abele you really don't want to see the Republics new toys then inspired by 'ComStar' but look more like Celestials

I have seen them and I'm no pleased. In general, I'm not a fan of the post-Jihad artwork. The new direction that the art has taken has, basically, no appeal to me whatsoever. It started with the Celestials and, for me, has stayed on the course of visually unappealing designs since. There are very few exceptions. So few, in fact, I can't think of a new design that I like artistically. As for the actual game of these designs, themselves, I will keep my mouth shut or, in this case, my fingers motionless.

Hi,

For what it's worth, it was pretty much the plan that the WoB Celestials and other machines intended for the elite MD forces were meant to only cater to the aesthetic of Jihad-era Word of Blake, when the idea was to instill fear as much as to destroy all in their path. The unique visuals of those machines was thus supposed to be the kind of thing nobody wanted to see ever again, like the black jackboots and skull insignias used by the SS in WWII. Any post-Jihad faction embracing that "style" would be the ones to look askance at. These were the weapons of a faction that had gone
"full evil", and they weren't meant to ever survive the era.

Were it still up to me, I'd not see them return at all--at least not in the current storyline.

I don't disagree with that Herb it's the Republic DA era 'ComStar' machines that jumped at me there design isn't that far off the Celestial one it surprised me the Republic would adopt them

Then again the shock factor of Celestial-esque designs might be enough of an edge to help the Republic at least initially so maybe psychologically it makes sense - answering my own point typical lol

Well, keep in mind the Republic (post-Fortress) is in a bit of a pickle when it comes to war material, so the use of Blessed Order designs was out of necessity, not desire. The fact that they fit into the RAF's Fortress Plans (i.e. raids) was just one more reason to utilize the design. That said, I wouldn't expect the Com Guard ’Mechs to see long term production if the Republic's position improved. Again, even these Celestial-inspired designs aren't long for the universe.

Some players also call the Regulan Sarath "The Seventh Celestial" as well.  there is also the Yao Lein deployed by the Cappelans

I am actually a little surprised that sockpiled Word mechs, if not celestials then other distinctly toaster machines like the Legacy, lightray or Initiate, have not been used en masse for out of fortress raids.

Not much of a stockpile left when the Word was basically gutted by the end of the Jihad, and many of the factories that built those designs were either damaged, destroyed or soon tasked with building new material for a growing RAF. WoB-inspired designs would have been tossed by necessity and preference. Even by 3120 you wouldn't find a strategic reserve of Legacies, Lightrays or Initiates sitting in storage.

The Republic caught a lucky break with the captured Com Guard designs.

Except in FM 3145 it was explicitly stated that a lot of computer data was captured including full schematics for many Blakist machines manufactured on Terra up to and includiing Celestials.  Bhul's Blessed order copied the Data (giving rise to the Kehpher and Ureaus) but it was implied they did not steal the hardware it was on nore delete it once copied.

the Republic Should have the capability to build Word Designs and are not.

you do not need much of a stockpile anyway, a Legqacy here, a Toyama there, and Vanquisher over there. is all it would take to make people freak.

the very least it would make the Bears and Regulans get all murdery and do a lot of work for the Republic.

Mind you other powers could have small stockpiles of Word designs and undertake missions along the lines you propose, for instance Davion raiding the Bears or Regulus and making it look like they came from the Kuritians or Liaos would help them no end.

True, they did have the schematics, but it was a matter of time and resources. One of the reasons why the RAF continued the production of the Com Guard machines wasn't just because they were new designs, or not exactly Blakist, but because the NETC was already setup to build a proven design.

The Republic does have the capability to build Word of Blake designs, but going through the motions of retooling factories to build an unpopular ’Mech design is incredibly inefficient when you're back is against the proverbial wall. The moment the Republic enacted the Fortress Protocols it knew it was living on borrowed time and had to rebuild accordingly.

True, but they're unnecessary thanks to the Com Guard machines. They're clearly Blakist-inspired, and given the +60 years since the Jihad, would lend even more credence or realism to a potential resurgent WoB.
