Katana Tormark would have had to screw them horribly then. the Khans eyes in Heretics faith went wide and her reaction for Katana's request for just under half the clan's fighting force (implying 6 to 7 total galaxies) went from "Are you kidding?" to "Do you want a fourth galaxy?"

I'll have to read that again I was under the impression they had 3 galaxies and she wanted most of them. The Nova Cats did seem to have an ace up their sleeve but Katana had 2 aces and so they helped her.

7 galaxies would rival the Clan even at its strongest so I'd be surprised if they had that many but as I said need to read it again

I also admit I am a few years removed from Heritics faith as well. but I seem to remember that it the fraction citd was half or thereabouts.

Finished re-reading Heretic's Faith recently, and it does seem to imply that 2 galaxies would be most of their strength, which is why they send one in the end. I'd guess that they have 3 understrength (numerically), though very well equipped, galaxies of troops.

the Nova Cats in the Combine rebuild Alpha Delta, and Tau Galaxies in the interim, and use them in the invasion of the former Diereon District with Gusto. they may not have warships, but they are resurgent, and possibly ascendant.

boy I can not believe how wrong I was here. ;D

Back to the IlClan, I have three theories, one that is "Smart Money" one that is "spoiler" and one that is "Bat-Shit Crazy"

Smart Money will be clan Wolf under Alaric and Anastasia's Leadership will keep the momentum going. this will neither be a bad nor a good thing, as Clan Wolf is one of the least crazy/most fair clans in existence. then again it seems all of the crazy or brutal clans were killed off, soooooo yeah.

The Spoiler theory is a Resurgent Clan Smoke Jaguar, Vis a Vie the Fidelus. these would not be your old school smoke Jags but a new Generation that is much more humble, and much more respectful of Civilians, a clan that actually has LEARNED SOMETHING after contact with the inner sphere. they would also be in a position to become the IlClan much more quickly through thier already established integration with the Republic of the Sphere...

the Bat Shit Crazy Theory is Clan Wolverine, also Resurgant, in a manner that smashes all pre concieved notions about them. doing so would answer ALL of the questions about the Weenies, and de mystify one of the greatest ongoing tales we have had in the franchise. I would also put the likely hood of this at less then 1%

I still think the smart money is on Clan Mantis Shrimp.

As posted by jimdigris over on the official BT forums:

Quote
The Gencon listing for this year's cannon event describes it as "Play in the conclusion of this year's story arc featuring the Fall of Terra: a massive fracas finds the Republic challenged by Alaric Ward and his Clan Wolf forces."

I can't say I'd be overly excited about the idea of the Wolves becoming ilClan (if that's what this ends up leading to); but we'll see what happens when the time comes.

(I would have thought the events post-3145 would have been kept under wraps for longer, though.)

That would actually be quite the turn, having Clan Wolf come so close and fall hard. it the wolves manage to reunite with thier exiled bretheren andabsorb the Jade Falcons before hand (I STILL hold there is a reckoning coming between them) then they might have a good shot.

Nah. The Republic owns.

Alaric gets his due. A guy that BAMF earns what his blood deserves.

A few comments about the "Fall of Terra" event from the first BattlChat of the month:

Quote
GenCon:

[18:02] <Nerroth> On the GenCon event schedule, there's a listing for this: "Play in the conclusion of this year's story arc featuring the Fall of Terra: a massive fracas finds the Republic challenged by Alaric Ward and his Clan Wolf forces." Will that event include preview Record Sheets for some of the new Wolf Empire and Republic of the Sphere units from TRO:3145?
[18:03] <Nerroth> Or to be more specific, the PDF releases for TRO:3145 Clans and Republic.
[18:05] <@Habeas2> Nerroth - Yes. Or at least, it should. As long as it doesn't get hung up in the concurrent production of the TRO itself.
[18:05] <Nerroth> Are there any units in particular that one might expect to see, like the Warwolf or one of the Colossi; or is that still to be decided?
[18:07] <@Habeas2> Nerroth - Again, most likely, but cannot guarantee it absolutely.
[18:10] <@Habeas2> Nerroth - Still to be decided. One key factor we need to consider is that we'd need miniatures for said units ready in time for GenCon. That's really iffy.

[18:59] <Nerroth> One last question for now: Will the outcome of the "Fall of Terra" event at GenCon have an impact on the storyline to be presented in the ilClan sourcebook?
[19:00] <@Habeas2> Nerroth - Yup.

So, if the RAF pull this one off, I wonder how that might benefit them in their attempt to ride out the storm... or would they simply be handing the ilClanship over to another would-be contender?

I am more interested in the fact that Levin either orders the walls brought down, or Alaric and the Wolf Scientists figure out how to breach it.

The Implications are sexy either way.

What I think may happen is if the RAF pull it off another Clan jumps in and seals it

The ilClan storyline seems set I just bet there's a back up Clan to ruin the IS day

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

I asked about the "Fall of Terra" event in the second BattleChat:

Quote
GenCon/Fall of Terra Event:

[02:05] When it comes to the "Fall of Terra" event at GenCon, I was wondering... without giving too much away, what kind of stakes will those on the side of the Republic have to fight for? With talk of the ilClan approaching, one wonders just how much of a benefit there would be to the RotS even if that side manages to win against the Wolves at the convention.
[02:08] <@Habeas2> Nerroth - The outcome of the "Fall of Terra" GenCon event will not be allowed to greatly impact the metaplot. That would put way too much power in the chance for a dice roll to alter the course of years of planned BattleTech product, especially an event that would only be played by those fortunate enough to make it to GenCon and get tickets to the event.

Listen, the ilClan is none other than a legitimized and rebranded Clan Wolverine, risen from the ashes of Malvina's Golden Horde with WoB backing.

There, I said it.
