Clan Question
« on: July 30, 2012, 01:19:08 AM »

I am creating a new cluster for Clan Stone Lion after the War of Reaving. I have a pretty good idea what it is going to be in the unit. My question is can a clan cluster have a mix of omnimech star and battlemech star in the cluster?

First off let me say welcome aboard andrewstffn!

Normally I'd say no to your question as the distinction between OmniMechs (Front Line) and BattleMechs (Second Line) is pretty clear. However your talking about assembling a unit (presumably ad hoc) after the devastating of the War of Reaving in a new Clan trying to simply survive. You got to use whatever you can at this point so its an acceptable premise for me. This is temporary though because as time goes on your unit will go one way (become front line) or the other (second line) according to Clan tradition.

Indeed welcome

I'd say definently in regards to the Stone Lions Reaving hurt the Clans maybe even a few stars of vehicles as well considering the stone lion origin

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

it is explcitly stated that Clan Stone Lion Follows the Horses general organizational docterine

From Field Manual Crusader Clans, a "textbook" Horses Cluster contains three Supernova Trinaries where Alpha and Beta Stars of each trinary contain a star of Battle Armor along side thier mechs, while Gamma Star is Mech Only.

4th Trinary is all Aerospace

Fifth Trinary is a Star of ten vehicles and a Star of conventional infantry (read 5 platoons) to act as a supplement.  Standard Armor Trinaries tend to be all tracked while Cavalry Trinaries tend to be two Hover Stars and 1 VTOL star.

Thank you for your answers. Yes, the cluster is a ad hoc and the cluster will grow to be a front-line cluster. JPArbiter, I am aware of the template Clan Stone Lion use but, this cluster will grow to the standard template.

Normally I'd say no to your question as the distinction between OmniMechs (Front Line) and BattleMechs (Second Line) is pretty clear.

But this was before Operation Revival and I am sure you can find somewhere Omni and Second Line Stars mixed in units.

I do appreciate the guideline JPArbiter. I know the Golden Century there was units with battlemechs and early omnimechs mixed together.
