Make floating crits the official tourney legal rule for hit location rolls.
Make vector movement the standard for aerospace and "cinematic"
optional.
Give the Federated Suns a culture
Make the Draconis Combine less of a caricature.
Bomb the Lyran Commonwealth and start over.
Melt the Clans into the Inner Sphere like cream into coffee.
Obliterate the Wolf's Dragoons once and for all.

Amen. Factor that as a rule into the Battlespace Starter Box.

These three points really interest me MadCap. In particular how would you give the Suns a culture? They are a French-English combine to me.  ???

The Federated Suns has no real culture.  It has no cuisine.  It has no real holidays or traditions.  It's people share no real identifying character.  How do they live?  How do they celebrate?  Dare I say, what makes them different from the American Midwest?  It's lack of a true identity makes it easy to fill in with what you want as a player, but ultimately it's a bore and that's a crime.

The Draconis Combine needs to stop being a nasty two-dimensional Japanese stereotype full stop.

As for the Lyrans, the longer the game has gone on the deeper my disdain has grown for House Steiner, their self-absorbed politics and the neglect they show the people living in their border regions.   There's a lot of cool aspects within the Lyran Commonwealth, but their leadership and national priorities need a shift pronto, or they need to start suffering more of the obvious consequences.

What is wrong with a culture similar to the American Midwest, where you can litterally find ANYTHING if you look (like the United Hindu Collective worlds still retaining thier cultural pre-suns heritage)

Heck the Draconis march has a strong Mexican Flavor to it, meanwhile the the Cappelan March is this oddball mixture of French Canadian/American spliced with a few Eastern European roots.

FM3085 is hinting at the local flavor of the new Periphery march, making it more akin to the American Southwest and Central America.

the Federated Suns, much like the Free Worlds League has no NATIONAL flavor, but plenty of REGIONAL flavor.

Because it's not unique.  As far as I'm concerned, none of the Great Houses should have a culture that outright parrots an existing one, American or otherwise.

Can't be that strong, because I've completely missed it.  My impression has always been that it's ever-so slightly Jewish, but almost noticeably so, mostly defaulting to Midwestern American, like the rest of the Federated Suns.

The Capellan March's primary culture seems to be reformed Capellan, actually, which makes it the most interesting of the Federated Suns Marches, but still ultimately doesn't do much for the Federated Suns as a whole.

Man, I hope they go deeper and find something unique there.  Now that would be cool.

The FWL has "plenty" of regional flavor.  The Federated Suns just varies what sauce comes standard on your Arby's sandwich from March to March.

I'm worried it'll just be your basic backwoods, hick, rough-and-ready, underdeveloped western expansion, spaghetti western setting. Something gallon hats and six shooters would be disappointing. I don't mind the hard working, carve something from nothing ethos, but a real "Outback" culture would be really cool.

Drifting off topic kids.

The two things I would do would be to bring back WarShips, not massive fleets, but enough to have a bit of fun with and to create a dedicated Succession Wars game with online support for mapping and unit databases.

It would also be tempting to make the Precentor of Lies the Line Developer for a month, just to see what happened...

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

100% behind you bringing back WarShips as a mainstream use, not just to keep the WarShip players interested but to add another dynamic

one of my biggest gripes about the Succession Wars was the Lack of WarShips and the Overlord being described as the closest thing to a WarShip they had.  Big spiny JumpShips with no guns?  Then WarShips returned first described as the "Combat JumpShips" of the Clans then as proper WarShips I had great hopes...

Then the FedCom Civil War and the Jihad happened and I cried every page unfortunately money can't buy the past back and all those WarShips gone.

That said the current developers are helping ease the pain of the Jihad's hate on WarShips and the DA's lack of them with the Historicals which (from reunification which is the only recent one I have) has plenty space battles in it.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Minor nitpick (well, not so minor with me, but ok): do not assume that just because the leading family has a Spanish sounding name that the region has a mexican flavor to it.

MadCapellan called it true: FedSuns culture is bland vanilla, described in sourcebooks as 'homogenous', the only exceptions being a strong jewish presence in the Draconis March (Hebrew is sometimes taught in schools), and Capellan elements in the Capellan March.

The FedSuns get victories, the others get flavor/culture  >:(

1.  Fire Herb.

2.  Hire Irose and Knightmare.

3.  Restart the game in 3025.

4.  Sit back and read.
