XTRO:1945
« on: April 01, 2013, 04:47:08 PM »

This year's April Fool PDF for BT is Experimental Technical Readout: 1945, which takes things all the way back to Terra's Second World War.

(And while we're at it, the Shadowrun spoof file includes a BattleTech cameo of its own.)

this is probably one of the funniest April Fools in a while, (Clan Spaniel takes the cake though, IMHO).

I admit a certain fear of Munchkins who will try to exploit the holy bejesus out of this SOMEHOW!

I think, over the years, the April Fools products have lost their luster for me. I realize production time isn't exceptionally high for these, but I keep thinking of all the products mentioned in various stages of preparation. Selfish, perhaps, but I tend to think "Couldn't this time have been spent on those other for profit projects?"

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

This may be an "april fools joke", but IMO it is a decent TRO, that can easily let you play mechs in WW2.

And the funny thing is, mechs in WW2 would be extremely powerful, so much so they actually make sense to field, where in the BTU vehicles can actually hold their own, in WW2 they'd die en masse.

Take IndustrialMechs from the DA and you'd still rule Bad_Syntax although it would be a lot closer.

I really enjoyed it, as something they've literally just thrown together for nothing I really can see no reason to complain.  And there all legal :)

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

I may have to knuckle under and register over at Battleshop to get this.  I always did like lo-tech.

It's also listed on DriveThruRPG, if you want to get it there.

It might be an idea to check the registration pages for both sites, and deciding which options you feel more comfortable with.

(If you have an interest in any non-Catalyst-related game systems, DTRPG supports a wider variety of product lines, whereas BattleShop is for CGL stuff only. But on the other hand, you need to go through the BattleShop if you ever want to take out a BattleCorps subscription.)
