Free Rasalhague Republic 3050
« on: January 15, 2011, 10:24:39 PM »

Another subject of thought for me today was the Free Rasalhague Republic of the post Succession Wars - pre Clan Invasion. This new interstellar nation must have been an interesting mess of three very different peoples. You've got the proto-Rasalhague people of the north who were conquered by the Draconis Combine who must I assume become the ruling class of the new nation. Next you got Draconians who moved into the area after the conquest or whose worlds, few and far between I would think, got sawed off and deposited in this new state. They would likely be on the short end of the stick after all those years of rulership under Lord Kurita. Add to this a significant number of Lyran worlds in the south that were conquered by the Dragon during the Succession Wars only to be gifted to Rasalhague instead of being returned to the Commonwealth. I would think these people might help the new government but wouldn't they want to be returned to Lyran rule? Ironically after the Clan invasion the only FRR worlds are these old Lyran worlds not true Rasalhague planets. Pretty screwed up place??

Considering it could well have been concieved as a landing pad for the Clans, any social angst was not going to have much impact compared to what the writers had coming...

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

They had the potential for a nasty civil war or internal political struggle for dominance between two very different social groups and cultures

Oh I hear ya Blacknova but we shouldn't look ahead like that. The state itself was originally created as a buffer for the Combine and had to carefully walk the line between Kurita and Steiner. That would have bound up some Drac hatred as any overt prejudice might have lead to a reconquest and partition.

Or they could have become a new nice melting-pot like their army.

i don't understand why they only had 15? line regiments and a minimum of 3 militia regiments on most planets with Rasalhague scenario showing 2 militia battlemech regiments and 5 armor(hover and tracked), 8 regiments of infantry(regular and mechanized), Radstad scenario had 2 Militai Battlemech regiments, 6 regiments of armor, 15 regiments of mechanized armor.
the line unit seem way to small to secure it's borders.
