Clan Homeworlds Update
Following the revelation that elements of the Society had reached the Periphery with the dezgra Serpents faction and were still surviving in the dezgra Sphinx Raptor faction of the Rim Collection this report has been written at the command of the Loremaster of the Clans and of the Tukayyid High Council and it details what we know of what remains in Clan Homeworlds.
The Burrocks
Interrogations of former warriors and civilians of the Serpents faction confirm that the only “Clan†faction remaining in the Homeworlds were Clan Burrock which had been absorbed into Clan Star Adder before the rise of the Society and their release where the Burrocks became shock-troops against the other Clans. The Burrocks were responsible for the destruction of Clan Goliath Scorpion and the last Jade Falcon remnants in the Homeworlds. It appears that the Hell’s Horses Galaxy that remained in the Homeworlds was completely absorbed by the Burrocks while the last Sea Fox merchants were executed publically outside the burnt out remains of the Hall of the Khans on Strana Mechty. To describe Clan Burrock as a “Clan†is to do so only in the broadest terms. By the time of the Serpents withdrawal from Clan space the Burrocks were led by Scientist General Tivon Nasir by order of the Society faction and their “Capital†is in the Tanis System. For any Clan warrior caste to be ruled by a Scientist is a final defiant act against the teachings of Nicholas Kerensky and for any of those dezgra to claim that they are Clan Warriors is truly a joke beyond all others and once our Toumans are given permission we will show them how The Clans deal with these honourless surats.
When the Serpents left the Homeworlds the Burrock faction had a grand total of six Galaxies of warriors and each was organized into six Clusters. Reports on naval assets have not been fully confirmed but it is suspected from the scattered reports on Serpents survivors that the Burrocks have twenty active WarShips. This number does not take into account the nearly three dozen known WarShip wrecks that are floating around in the remaining Homeworlds systems.
Due to the ruling nature of the Society it is unknown if the Burrocks are still independent of the Society or not since the elimination of the last Clan resistance it is possible that the Society have completely absorbed the remaining Burrocks.
The Society
Alongside the Burrocks are the Society’s own armed forces distinguishing between the two is, according to the former Serpents, a more and more difficult proposition as the Society moves more and more on the Burrock faction. The origins of the Society are hidden in shadow however it believes that members of several Clans’ Scientist Caste worked together against the ideals of The Founder the majority of these Scientists is believed to have come from the faction of Clan Coyote that remained in the Homeworlds and The Society’s headquarters is believed to be under the nuclear wastes of Tameron. According to our Serpents bondsmen the Society does not follow Clan organisation methods instead organising under what they describe as a Prime system. The “Un†which is the smallest Society unit size is a single unit one Mech, three aerospace fighters, three ProtoMechs, seven vehicles, three battle armour troopers or three infantry platoons. The next unit is a Trey which is three Un sized units while a Sept is two Trey sized units with a command unit. The Society mix their units as combined armes throughout with not a single observed homogeneous unit in all of their armed forces. It is unknown how they organize their naval units.
Combat Tactics
According to the Serpents survivors that the Society’s troops are elite to the core but that they are deployed primarily as command units behind the Burrocks instead of as assault units. The Society’s armed units are also responsible for selecting citizens of the Homeworlds for the Society’s experiments. Each of the Burrocks and Society’s ground forces are linked to the other by advanced electronics known as the Nova CEWS which acts like an advanced C3 system not unlike the C3i system employed by the Word of Blake and ComStar.
The Society has been known to use nuclear, biological and chemical weapons to weaken an enemy and orbital bombardment in support of ground assaults. It is known that several planets have been devastated by the fighting that took place before the Serpents retreated from the homeworlds by these tactics and that several are not habitable. The Society has also been known to employ genetic viruses to specifically destroy certain Bloodlines like the Crow and Tseng Bloodhouses.
The Remains
The Society’s rise in the Homeworlds was the most traumatic experience that the worlds we called home had ever experienced. It is known that Eden, Circe, Lum, York, Shadow, Delios, Albion, Atreus, Ironhold and Vinton have all been made completely uninhabitable to human life and abandoned. Tameron, the Society’s capital, was devastated in a naval attack employing nuclear weapons launched by The Serpents before they abandoned the Clan Homeworlds. It is believed that the Society still hold this world as their capital despite its condition.
The manufacturing capabilities of the Homeworlds are the great unknown. According to the surviving Serpents the leaders of the Serpents destroyed all ground factories once controlled by the Star Adder, Cloud Cobra and Steel Viper Clans before their evacuation it is also believed that the shipyard that built the Perigrad Zalman was also destroyed by the Serpents. During the nuclear attack on Tameron the surface based factories and shipyards there were obliterated by naval and nuclear weapons fire. It is believed that there are still factories under the surface of Tameron producing equipment for the Society. Elsewhere in the Kerensky Cluster and in the region around it the Society is rebuilding factories and research facilities to further their goals.
Beyond the Homeworlds
The rise of the Society saw many rebel factions rise against the ideals of The Founder some of these are known to have been wiped out by the Burrocks in an effort to bring order to the region however others are known to have fled into the surrounding Periphery or gone into hiding. It is rumoured that there are elements of some of the Clans still hidden in the Homeworlds still resisting against the Burrocks and against the Society fighting a guerrilla campaign. Once our Clans return to the Homeworlds these “Resistance Clans†may be as alien to us as the Society.
