Lyran's Real Secret of Survival
« on: March 22, 2007, 03:16:52 PM » Quote Modify Remove Split Topic
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exerpt from the Introduction to Senior NCO Developement Course 11-2988, Tharkad Training Depot
"I'm here to tell ya lads, it ain't them high an' mighty nobles, it ain't the cartels, it ain't all them assault 'mechs (though they help!) and it ain't even the Tambiqui Dark!
Its the backbone of the LCAF: you!
When that damn Oberst has gotten his Zeus atomized and his battalions in a twist, you are gonna be the ones who pull it out!
When the officers are paying more attention to the Social Register and not the welfare of their troops, you are gonna keep the companies in fighting shape!
When the Estates General come up short on the funding, you are gonna be the ones who figure out how to stretch it!
Welcome to the toughest damn job you'll ever love!"
OK yeah it was a bit of IC there, but after years of being embroiled in the Battletech Universe that is my only conclusion as to how the Lyran State has managed to survive basically unchanged until c.3039. I really think that if anyone wants to assemble a 'Mech outfit with members from the various Successor states, pick whoever you want as officers, whatever mechs, etc etc, but grab your senior NCO's from the LCAF.
And by the way, HI! First post here. Nice Site!!

lol ive always said the best Lyran is an ExLyran, because it always seemed in our roleplaying endeavors you would always run into retired or kicked out lyrans that were actually really good at their job but didnt fit in with the social clique of command.
And yea welcome aboard Top seen you around alot when i actually posted over on CBT.

Well I'm certainly no Ex Lyran.
In fact I am a Katrina Loyalist, but since she's off becoming a Mechwarrior with Clan Wolf I will now be supporting Adam Steiner as soon as he takes over. (I haven't forgotten her of course, and if she ever comes back I'll be like the Scots who supported Bonnie Prince Charlie.)
And thanks for the warm welcome!
I'll be poking around, seeing what mischief I can get into, and trying to keep this Lyran board alive.
Is it cool to post images of minis? And Unseens ok?

Top,
Great to have you here!
Have you considered writing for the UNR? I don't know if you've seen Takiro's posts on CBT regarding this challenge/contest. We could certianly use the help!
I look forward to seeing your minis. I have a large stash of minis that contains a lot of Unseens, but most are not painted after all these years.

The UNR is "Universal News and Reports" over on the Star League Core
http://www.thestarleaguecore.com/comnex/(looks like Takiro beat me to it) I'm sure Takiro can explain it better than I. It's a place where we publish articles and stories regarding our little universe of Takiro's creation. Check out the site, and if you're interested, contact Takrio regarding article submissions.
NICE minis!

I'm also with bradshaw along lines of thinking when it comes to Lyrans adn I do mean well.
Not the biggest fan of Katherine and all I remember about Adam Steiner is that he was the most irratating charecter
on the Battletech Cartoon.
