Do we know when were 'Mechs introduced in the Magistracy? And if so which ones?
And last but not least, when did the Magistracy start their own production?

According to the Ostwar entry in XTRO:Primitives Vol. 1 the Magistracy was importing from the Lyrans pre Reunification war so whats the betting they bought there first battlemech plans from them as well, i'm also wondering if the Taurians and Outworlds did the same?

The Wasp, as Takiro says and according to the entry in TechManual which lists the first locally built battlemech.

The Ostwar is part of the Ost series Ice with the Ostscout and the Ostroc. Not native Canopian but Terran originally I believe.

I'm more surprised by the lack of imagination by the Battletech writers....

And I'm amazed that the MOC some how managed to establish it's first battlemech factory during the Reunification War- which of the IS powers was dealing under the table with them to provide the info- since the MOC's policy seems to buy what they need, not develop it on their own.

Yep, looks like they were selling Terran design's though as the MoC never built any Lyran ones.
