more durable then the Naga and better able to defend itself at range, but the Naga is significantly fatser, allowing rapid redeployment and preventing the Mech from getting pinned down easily...

not sure the tradeoff is worth it.

An artillery mech that I have used in game has been the Huntress Class Battlemech. I used a lance of these mechs to wear down defenders and attackers. Not very quick but DEADLY.

Like most things, it probably depends upon the battlefield situation. One thing this design has going for it is its ammunition endurance which, in my opinion, tends to be lacking in virtually every other canon Artillery 'Mech. Even if your battles don't normally last nearly as long as it ammunition supply, at a bear minimum you can have more variable ammunition at your disposal. Besides, the Clans generally don't like to withdraw and can have a reckless regard for support units, so this design might do well...

then again with the exception of the Wolves and the Horses who would deploy an artillery mech as a regular part of the Touman?

Clan Fennec also uses them. A Trinary's worth in our Frontline units and a Cluster in our Secondary units. The new Hollader lll  could be used as an artillery mech.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.
