According to fluff, the Summoner is the favorite heavy-weight OmniMech of Clan Jade Falcon . . . and one can understand why. It's seventy tons of lethal alloys with a good heat curve in most configurations; it is just as fast (or faster) as the vast majority of Clan heavy-weight designs; it is mobile with five fixed jump jets allowing for the Warrior to make a quick attack (or retreat) over rough terrain.
But it has its flaws. The armor is thin (although not quite Hellbringer thin!) and many configurations are over-sinked with the fourteen fixed DHS. The design lacks endo-steel, so the available pod space is a meager 22.5 tons.
We can do better.
Our Summoner (AISHB) uses endo-steel and reduces the fixed internal heat sinks to twelve in total. That saved enough tonnage for us to increase the armor from 9.5 to 11 tons of ferro-fibrous, for a total 97.23% of maximum armor coverage on a 70-ton frame. AND, it provided for a four ton increase in available pod-space, from 22.5 tons to 26.5 tons. This is the really good thing, because SO FRACKING MANY of the canon configurations would have been superb with just one or two tons more room for ammunition.
The Prime has two versions, both of which carries only three weapons, just like canon: an ER PPC in the right arm, an LB-10X autocannon in the left arm, and an LRM-15 launcher in the left torso is the armament of the Prime-1. The Prime-2 replaces the LB-10X with an Ultra AC-10. Heat production on a full jumping alpha strike is just +3 with the base twelve DHS . . . good enough (the Prime-2 runs hotter, but still maxes out at +7 on a full jumping Alpha Strike with Double Tap). BUT, that extra four tons allowed us to carry a third ton of LRM ammo (24 salvoes), two more tons of LB-10X (or UAC-10) ammo (a total of 30 bursts; 20 slug and 10 cluster comes standard), and add Artemis IV to the LRMs. NOW, the Summoner (AISHB) Prime can last through more than brief skirmish AND it will consistently put more missiles on target.
Configuration A is much like the original as well. The main weapon is a Gauss Rifle in the left arm (but with THREE tons of ammo for 24 shots, instead of just eight) with a Large Pulse Laser in the right arm. We kept the SRM-6 launcher in the left torso, but converted one of the two tons of ammunition into Artemis IV. Finally, we added a Medium Pulse Laser. The Summoner (AISHB) A is perfectly heat neutral even on a jumping alpha with the fixed dozen DHS . . . and it can bring the PAIN.
Configuration B is . . . strange for a Clan OmniMech. Each arm carries an LRM-20 with Artemis IV with a total of six tons of ammunition (18 salvoes!). In addition, the right and left torso both carry an SRM-6 launcher with Artemis IV and a ton of ammunition apiece (15 salvoes!). The remaining ton and a half was spent on an Anti-Missile System (with a ton of ammo for 24 bursts). This variant carries NO energy or ballistic weapons, but it can put some missiles down range! Maximum heat is 26 when it can dissipate 24 . . . so once again, we are GOOD.
I divided the canon C configuration into two models . . . differing only in the autocannon mounted. The C-1 carries an Ultra AC-20 with four tons of ammunition (20 single shots or 10 double-taps; twice as much as the original!), backed up by an ER Large Laser in the right arm, a Flamer in the right torso, and two Streak SRM-4 launchers that share a single ton of ammo. A thirteenth DHS helps deal with the heat, but on an alpha strike with a double tap from the that UAC-20, the Summoner (AISHB) C1 generates a LOT of excess overheat (+14 on a jumping alpha).
The C2 replaces the UAC-20 with an LB-20X and three tons of ammunition (typically one of cluster and two of slug) and an ECM Suite in the right torso. Overheat isn't QUITE the concern of the C1, but max damage is lower.
The Summoner (AISHB) D configuration is BASED on the canon D config . . . but not identical. This version carries THREE ER Large Lasers (right arm, left arm, and left torso), backed up by an ER Medium Laser and an AMS system with 24 bursts. All four lasers are tied into a three-ton Targeting Computer in the right torso for maximum accuracy and precision . . . while an additional nine DHS (for a total of TWENTY-ONE) deals with most (not all) of the heat production. Max overheat is +5 on a jumping alpha strike when the AMS engages . . . so it's manageable.
I've added three more configurations. Configuration E is an artillery unit. The design carries an Arrow IV launcher in the left arm with three tons of artillery rockets (fifteen in total). This is balanced with an ER PPC (right arm), Medium Pulse Laser (right torso), and SRM-6 with Artemis IV (right torso with one ton of ammo) for self-defense. Just the twelve base DHS are provided, but since you shouldn't be using the Arrow IV and your own guns at the same time, this is more than sufficient.
Configuration F is a dedicated air-defense configuration. Each arm carries an LB-5X autocannon (with both guns being provided with two tons of ammo each, for a total of 40 shots apiece!) and an underslung ER Medium Laser. The left torso carries an ER Large Laser, while the right has an AMS with 24 bursts and a thirteenth DHS. The Summoner (AISHB) F isn't all that well liked among the Warrior caste, but it fills a vital role in the toumen. And it is better than being assigned to an Artillery unit!
Finally, we have the Summoner (AISHB) G. This one was basically an experiment on my part to see how many SRMs I could cram on a Summoner frame. Turns out, the answer is A HECK OF A LOT. The main gun is a Large Pulse Laser on the right arm . . . but in close it is the NARC launcher in the left torso (with two tons of homing beacons for 12 in total) that is the major damage dealer. That and the FIVE SRM-6 launcher carries in the left arm. Four tons of NARC homing ammo provides for twelve salvoes against any opponent tagged . . . and a FIFTH ton of Inferno ammunition makes the Summoner (AISHB) G hell-on-two-legs (heh) against vehicles and infantry. I added four more DHS, which mostly deals with the heat load. Mostly.
