AWS-10KM2 the three heavy PPC Awesome.
« on: December 03, 2013, 11:36:48 AM »

Irian Battlemechs had a problem in the 32nd century, and that problem was the Hellstar.  despite the Awesome being the leader in siege platformassault mechs since the days of the Star League, the AWS could only compete with the Horses monstrosity in terms of overall cost efficiency.  Irian's last great gamble before being shuttered by the Republic of the Sphere's Senate was the AWS-11M, and even that machine had to rely on clan made heat sinks to work properly.  after that point the Horses and Sea Foxes were willing to sell the Hellstar to whomever could pay.

upon being reactivated in 3138, Irian Battlemechs Unlimited began rexamining the Awesome platform for sale to the Free Worlds League.  the end result for thier KM2 was a bizarre amalgamation of the classic 9M engine, and the 10KM's Gyro and weapons.  by sacrificing some heat sinks, they were able to add a Radical heat sink system, boosting cooling efficiency over the short term.  this allowed the dream of three heavy PPCs to be mounted on the AWS frame to finally be realized...

response from the field has been extremely positive, though many suspect that may be more due to the lack of Hellstars among FWLM forces, as well as the depletion of Clan Wolf's own stockpiles.  many suspect as the War Time economy continues to rev up from it's half century slumber that the 10KM 2 will become a flash in the pan as clan technology continues to become cheaper and cheaper.

What are Radical Heat Sinks?

3 Heavy PPCs sounds nasty. Be nice if you could put a PPC Capacitor on them.  ;)

Radical Heat Sinks are pretty much a MASC system for the Heat Sinks.

You can flush the heat sinks of a Mech like a Coolant Pod but which I get the impression wipes the heat off the Mech but each time you do it it causes more and more problems.

I thought there was a Trip HPPC version of the Awesome already

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

when it works it works well effectively subtracting another 1 heat per heat sink.  it has the SAME failure rate as MASC, and if it fails it will increase movement heat by +1 and weapons fire gets a +1 heat as well. (I am not sure if this is per weapon or cumulative...)
