And since some might think that Challenge #1 is a little TOO easy (being a heavier clone of the Fire Moth), I'm giving ya'll a second one this week as well:
My version of the Hellion. Also 30-tons in overall weight, this little sucker moves at 9/14/0 (18), has 100% armor protection for a 30-ton design, and features 8.5 tons of pod-space!
Contest ends at the stroke of Midnight on February 20th. I will be judging for fluff text and configuration effectiveness as well as how it FITS into the Clan Ice Hellion doctrine and philosophy.

Overview
Clan Ice Hellion has an unique approach to warfare with a focus on swift attack and agile response, named wrongly by some (including among Clan Ice Hellion) Blitzkrieg.
Before his death and following the success of the Arctic Fox, Khan Wick launched a review of what would be needed to make Clan Ice Hellion once more a feared Clan among its peers and the answer was simple yet difficult, “practice our way like it should be and not like we do it.â€
In his last will, he ordered the creation of a ‘Mech that would be everything that an Ice Hellion was: speedy, tough and dangerous.
Capabilities
At 30 tons, the Hellion is almost at the maximum of the Light ‘Mech class but this was seen as being the best choice to mix the needed speed, armour and firepower. Any other tonnage would have led to unbalancing the whole design.
Taking lessons from the Arctic Fox, it was decided to lower the speed a little bit to free room for more weapons. However at nearly 200 kph (thanks to the use of a MASC), the Hellion can still outrun most opponents and go where it is needed or where it needs to go.
Thanks to the use of advanced weight-savings material like a XL Engine, Endo-Steel and Ferro-Fibrous armour, the Hellion still has the maximal amount of armour that can be carried by its chassis combined with 8.5 tons of pod space available, almost a third more than the newest Arctic Fox.
Configuration Prime is another jack-of-all-trades Configuration able to deal with all situations and be efficient. An ER Medium Laser and a LRM-10 provide the long-range punch while a SRM-4 is there for the closer ranges firepower and two Small Pulse Lasers to deal with Elementals or infantry.
Configuration Prime Second is a later update taking advantage of the latest technology available to replace both launchers by 2 ATM-3 with two tons of ammo to allow the use of specialised ammunitions depending on the battlefield situation.
Configuration A is a pure fire-support ‘Mech with two torso-mounted LRM-10 and 3 tons of ammo. The only non ammo fed weapon is an ER Small Laser but the speed of the Hellion makes this lack of secondary weapon a non problem.
Configuration A Second puts 4 ATM-3 instead of the twin LRM-10 with two tons of ammo. This Configuration lacks any real endurance on the battlefield but is suited for specific operations or Trials.
Configuration B is modelled after one of the most powerful IIC Light ‘Mech in terms of raw firepower, the Commando IIC. It has the same strengths and weaknesses with more armour and more speed, thus improving its survival potential against bigger targets.
Configuration C is designed around a torso-mounted ER PPC and an Anti-Missile System to deal with incoming enemies. A Small Pulse Laser in the Left Arm is the only secondary weapon but it is there mostly to deal with Elementals and infantry that might come too close to it.
Configuration D is another result of the original simulation data acquired from the Star Adders. Its purpose is to deal with unarmoured infantry and all kinds of vehicles. To achieve its goal, it packs an Active Probe to detect hidden enemies, 1 Medium Pulse Laser, 2 Small Pulse ones and 4 SRM-2 with one ton of ammo (and the capacity to use Inferno rounds). Even if all this firepower is not up to more specialised ‘Mechs, it is able to obliterate whole units in mere seconds.
Configuration D Second replaces the 2 Small Pulse Lasers with 3 of the newest AP Gauss Rifles increasing the range and thus the efficiency of this Configuration to deal with its natural targets before the Hellion comes into their firing range.
Configuration E is a sort of experiment to make a harassing ‘Mech that can outrange almost anything and then get back quickly to its supply depot if needed to rearm. An UAC/2 and an ATM-3, both in the torsos, are the perfect weapons to do that and even if they are not dealing a lot of damage, they can make any opponent lose their nerves, making mistakes and enabling the quicker to react and adapt Ice Hellion forces to take advantage of it.
Configuration F is designed to go head-to-head with bigger opponents and to bring them down thanks to the training of the Clan Warriors. Mixing a Heavy Large Laser, 3 Heavy Medium Lasers and a Heavy Small Laser, This peculiar mix of weapons is obviously aimed at Warriors able to select the best firing options to maximise the damage dealt while keeping an eye on the heat level.
Configuration G is designed to remove specific targets in Trials. With an ATM-6 and two tons of ammo in one torso, 2 AP Gauss Rifles in the other and one ER Medium Laser in the Left Arm, it can deal with any targets it has in sight.
Configuration H is seen as semi honourable by some Warriors as it aims at disabling another ‘Mech by making it run hot thanks to its Plasma Cannon in the Left Arm, guided thanks to a Micro Pulse Laser (another lesson learned from the Arctic Fox). Once it is shut down or unable to use its firepower, the Hellion can close the distance and finish its job with its 3 Heavy Medium Lasers.
Battle History
The only action on a larger scale by the Hellion so far have been training sessions planned by Clan Star Adder and Clan Goliath Scorpion to conduct mock battles against future Inner Sphere opponents. While described by some as a “tool to teach dezgra tactics to honourable Warriorsâ€, Clan Ice Hellion send nonetheless a Cluster to them with their new Hellions at its forefront.
Even if the global performance of the Ice Hellion unit was not up to its Clan expectations, the Hellion performed well outperforming most other ‘Mechs in the same weight category and managing to be sometimes on par with heavier designs.
Deployment
The Hellion is being produced as fast as possible and being sent to all Galaxies first as a reward and as soon as more become available, they will become the standard Ice Hellion Light ‘Mech.
Notable ‘MechWarriors
Warrior Seth is a Freeborn in the 200th Attack Cluster of Beta Galaxy. Following the destruction of his Mist Lynx during the digging of trenches to divert the lava flows from a volcano burst on Hector, he was granted one of the first produced Hellions as a reward for “putting the pack above himself.â€

From my fluff point of view, one was an experiment while the second was THE 'Mech (in other words, the totem one).

Both will be in service at the same time. Of course, it all depends on the fluff as to which is the more common. So write away!

Ignore that. The Arctic Fox enters production in 3004. The Hellion a year later in 3005.

Overview:
The engineers and technicians in the Red Sector A design bureau at the Hector
Mechworks Facility Alpha had been in the middle design phase of their Clan's
new totem OmniMech, the Hellion, when the specifics had been revised, No
longer was it going to be jump-capable Mech capableof reach sppeds of nearly
120kph. Now it was going to be a strictly ground-based Mech capable of reaching
speeds in excess of 180kph when the MASC unit was engaged.
While they were neary to assemble the first protoypes, there was sufficient
time to amke the needed changes and acquire new powerplants. They already had
five distinct configurations prepard for their original designs. However with
the new changes they were going to have chave three tons of weapons and
ammunition from each in order tsqueeze. The chief engineer wante to keep the
new cofigurations as close to the originals as he possibly.
The orignal Prime featured an LRM10, three Streak SRM2s and four ER medium
lasers and was quite the well armed war machine. Thy retained the LRM10 and one
of the Streak SRM-2s. Three of the four original medium lasers were also
retained. Medium-ranged firepower was reduced by nearly a third, but the staff
believed that the speed woud overcome that issue.
The A configuration originslly featured a trio of LRM10 launchers bcked up by a
single ER medium laser. The new design removed one of the launchers and its
ammo and added a ER small laser for added protection.
The B configuration is very similar to the original in that feature an ER large
laser backed up three, instead of four, ER medium lasers and a single ER small
laser, There ar now two additional heat sinks in place of the original's three.
The original C configuration featured paired Streak missile launchers and a
quartet of ER medium lasers tied into an advanced targeting computer. With the
weight loss the SRM launcher was switched to single standard SRM6 while another
ER medium aser was added.
The original D configuration was scratched altogether as it was yet another
platformbased on the LRM launcher. The new D configuration is straight
huntr=kiler version armed with an ER PPC backed up by a pair of ER medium asers
and a flamer.
A half century later would see the advent of new technologies and weaponry.
This would lead to two new confiurations. The E configuration ses the first
jump capable version of the Hellion that is fitted with six jumpjets.
Weapons include two heavy medium asers and three-tube ATM launcher with ER and
HE ammo feeing the launcher.
The F configuration is fitted a heavy large laser and a trio of ER medium
lasers and an ER small laser. An additional Heat sink has been added to hep
with heat buildup.

Okay, I pulled something together from the stray sentences to continue the story of the 'Hellion Surge'. I just used the configs given by the OP, given I couldn't spend a lot of time on it, but some of them have had minor changes due to incorrect tonnages, etc. I tried to keep the flavor of the original fluff, but changed it slightly to fit the fluff background.
I also moved up the attempt by Norizuchi to the IS and changed the Galaxy-sized Trial to single combat to explain the ability to continue with the Surge fluff. If you feel its too big a change to canon, you could always change it to an attempt to regain the Surge momentum in the wake of massive losses to Norizuchi's failed attempt to invade. So, the Hellion.

Overview
Sensitive to the currents of power in the Clan homeworlds, the Ice Hellions were quick to take advantage of the brief advantage given to them by the introduction of the Arctic Fox prototypes. Every Warrior knew the surprise of its stunning speed and efficient configurations would be momentary, and the first units constructed with modern technology were in action before their existence became common knowledge as Clans Wolf and Star Adder kept their failure to defeat the normally unsuccessful Ice Hellions secret. Buoyed with a surge of popularity and general enthusiasm, Khan Norizuchi began planning to defy the Grand Council and lead the Ice Hellions in an invasion of the Inner Sphere by themselves. Wick begged her to reconsider, saying it would result in the Annihilation of their Clan, but she refused to hear his pleas and began preparations for the assault. Assembling the entire Arctic Fox line in Alpha Galaxy, Norizuchi and Wick came to blows over her attempt to lead the Clan back to the Inner Sphere alone, and Wick was forced to kill her in a Trial of Refusal before the assembled Warriors of Alpha and Beta Galaxies.
Seeking to regain the momentum gained from the introduction of the Arctic Fox, Khan Wick authorized a series of modifications to the Clan’s Incubus battlemechs. Common in the Hellion Touman, the Incubus was chosen by the Scientist Caste for further emphasis based on the same research leading to the successful Arctic Fox but was passed over to concentrate on assembling the materials for the Arctic Fox prototypes. Ordering a series of new configurations to the standard battlemechs with MASC installed as standard equipment, a series of Trials for the resources to begin develop of a new Omnimech design based on the Incubus to prove the validity of the concept was approved, christened the Hellion Surge.
Capabilities

Designed to deal with all situations and be efficient, an ER Medium Laser and a LRM-10 provide the long-range punch while a SRM-4 and two small pulse lasers offer short-range firepower to deal with Elementals or infantry.
*A derivative of the Prime, the Prime (2) is a later update taking advantage of the latest technology available to replace both launchers by 2 ATM-3 with two tons of ammo to allow the use of specialised ammunitions depending on the situation.

A pure fire-support ‘Mech with two torso-mounted LRM-10 and 3 tons of ammo the only ammunition independent weapon is an ER Small Laser, as confident Warriors declined to install more energy weapons in favor of the heaviest throw weight possible, trusting the speed of the new design to rather than more secondary weapons.
*Configuration A (2) mounts 4 ATM-3 instead of the twin LRM-10, with two tons of ammo. This Configuration lacks any real endurance on the battlefield but is well-suited for specific roles or Trials.
(B)
Configuration B is modelled after the Commando IIC, a successful update of the ancient design by the Goliath Scorpions. Identified by the same study that resulted in the Arctic Fox and rare outside the Scorpion Touman it has the same strengths and weaknesses with more armour and speed, thus improving its survival potential against bigger targets. Armed with a pair of ER-MLs, SRM-6, and a trio of SRM-4s (both equipped with a single ton of ammunition), Warriors assigned to the modified Incubus reported great success with the heavily armed configuration before the limited ammunition ran out, a serious weakness mitigated by the increased speed and armor.

Configuration C is designed around a torso-mounted ER PPC and an Anti-Missile System to deal with incoming enemies. A Small Pulse Laser in the Left Arm is the only secondary weapon but is there mostly to deal with Elementals and infantry that might come too close to it.
(D)
Configuration D is another result of the original simulation data, inspired by the growing numbers of vehicle and Infantry Trinaries (referred to as, ‘Flurries’) within the Hellion Touman. Designed to cope with Infantry and armored vehicles it packs an Active Probe to detect hidden enemies in time for five SRM-2s fed with Inferno rounds to quickly eliminate them before taking damage. A mix of medium and small pulse lasers provides unlimited endurance and allows it to capitalize on its speed with snap shots even at low probabilities of a successful attack.
*Configuration D (2) replaces the 2 Small Pulse Lasers with two of the new AP Gauss Rifles and a ton of ammunition, increasing the range and thus the efficiency of this Configuration to deal with its natural targets before the Hellion comes into their firing range.
(E)
Configuration E is an experimental design that can outrange almost anything and then get back quickly to its supply depot if necessary. A torso-mounted UAC/2 and ATM-3 (each with a single ton of ammunition) are the perfect weapons to do that, sniping at range and prompting enemy units to lose their nerves, making mistakes and enabling the rest of the Hellion force to take advantage of it.
(F)
Configuration F is designed to go head-to-head with bigger opponents and to bring them down, mixing a Heavy Large Laser and three Heavy Medium Lasers bolstered by the addition of a single heat sink, forcing the pilot to fire the Heavy large laser individually before closing the range to bring the mediums to bear. A flamer was added to assist in overheating enemy units, setting fires to break line-of-sight, and fulfill the anti-personnel role.

Configuration G is designed to remove specific targets in Trials. With an ATM-6 and two tons of ammo in one torso, 2 AP Gauss Rifles in the other (fed by a single ton of ammo) and one ER Medium Laser in the Left Arm, it can deal with any targets it has in sight.
(H)
Configuration H is seen as only semi-honourable by some Warriors as it aims at disabling another ‘Mech by making it run hot thanks to its Plasma Cannon in the Left Arm (fed by two tons of ammunition), guided thanks to a Micro Pulse Laser (another lesson learned from the Arctic Fox). Once it is shut down or unable to use its firepower, the Hellion can close the distance and finish its job with its 3 Heavy Medium Lasers.

Assigned to assist the movement of BA across the battlefield, the Hellion can cross up to 240 meters in the air while searching for signs of hidden ambushers with the assistance of its active probe. The configuration carries three of the standard ER small lasers in each arm to support the Infantry at close range, with a flamer added to distort line of sight from enemy support units.
Deployment
With the conversion to new weapons suites, the revamped Incubus has become extremely popular with the Hellion Warrior Caste, rivaling even the Arctic Fox. Successfully deployed against several Clans in the ‘Hellion Surge’ campaign to assist gathering the resources necessary to begin upgrading the design to Omnitechnology, the preliminary design has been renamed the Hellion, representing the speed and ferocity of the Clan’s totem and the new philosophy behind the Arctic Fox and Hellion designs entering the Touman.
These designs have attracted the interest of several Clans, with the Arctic Fox and Hellion becoming the center of trade agreements designed to finance the expansion of the program to redesign several of the weakest designs prevalent in the Hellion Touman. Never ones to delay action in favor of extended thought, Khan Wick has quietly approached several Clans with proposals to assist the Hellion Scientist Caste as the project begins to move rapidly to the design phase for several new concepts and designs.

OVERVIEW
Moving rapidly to build on their new manufacturing initiative the Ice Hellions looked to the past to help build their future. Stephan Cage who founded and shaped the Clan piloted a Star League Royal Hussar which would still be a good fit for the Hellion Touman. Designers quickly set to work on updating the nearly four-hundred-year old ‘Mech to modern day Clan front line standards. No expense was spared in creating this new flagship product which the whole of the Clan could take pride in. Scientists unveiled the war machine to the Khans just after the completion of the Battlefly. Impressed with its performance and recognizing its potential impact they named the new OmniMech the Cagefighter which recognized a nickname of Stephan Cage allegedly bestowed on him by General Aleksandr Kerensky.
CAPABILITIES
Designers remained failthful to the look of their founder’s ‘Mech which looks identical to the Star League model. Painstakingly copy the classis Benztrov 40 chassis to create the new Hussar II EndoSteel chassis was probably the most difficult task engineers had. Other components like the Light Force 270 XL Engine from the Incubus BattleMech were readily available to the Clan. Using five and a half tons of Compound H17 Ferro-Fibrous also taken from the Incubus the Cagefighter boasts full armor protection for its size. This was easily the single biggest improvement for this new Clan model as the original Hussar only had a mere twenty five percent armor coverage that its precursor enjoyed. Copying the original also made it easy for technicians to work on it as a known commodity and the interior was quite roomy despite the use of bulky weight saving materials.
The Primary Weapon Configuration mirrors the old Royal Hussar with a Series 7J Extended Range Large Laser taken from the Donar Assault Helicopter serving as its primary weapon. An Extended Range Medium Laser and Flamer were also added for supplementary firepower. Of course, this all energy weapon armament allows the BattleMech to remain in the field for extended operations. A substantial electronics package which includes a Targeting Computer, an Active Probe and an ECM Suite was included creating a war machine that could serve as a light command sniping element.
DEPLOYMENT
The importance of the Cagefighter to the Ice Hellion Clan cannot be underestimated as the new OmniMech has taken on special roles. Much like the Orion IIC to the Wolves these machines are presented to ristars who are expected to advance quickly in the Clan Touman. They also serve at Hellion Blood Chapels as ceremonial guards which is a great honor for any Mechwarrior. For actual combat duty these new OmniMechs have been grouped into Sniper Stars which can decapitate almost any opponent.
While some Clans have coitized the Hellions for overusing large Extra Light Engines on Light OmniMechs others quickly recognized its value. Burrock and Nova Cat were among the most interested Clans who moved quickly to acquire some for their own Touman. Blood Spirit was at the extreme decrying it as a waste of resources while moving forward with their own so-called Zombie OmniMechs.

OVERVIEW
Moving rapidly to build on their new manufacturing initiative the Ice Hellions looked to the past to help build their future. Stephan Cage who founded and shaped the Clan piloted a Star League Royal Hussar which would still be a good fit for the Hellion Touman. Designers quickly set to work on updating the nearly four-hundred-year old ‘Mech to modern day Clan front line standards. No expense was spared in creating this new flagship product which the whole of the Clan could take pride in. Scientists unveiled the war machine to the Khans just after the completion of the Arctic Fox. Impressed with its performance and recognizing its potential impact they named the new OmniMech the Hellion in honor of Stephen Cage and Nicholas Kerensky both.
CAPABILITIES
Designers attempted to remain failthful to the look of their founder’s ‘Mech which looks almost identical to the Star League model. Painstakingly copy the classis Benztrov 40 chassis to create the new Hussar II EndoSteel chassis was probably the most difficult task engineers had. Other components like the Light Force 270 XL Engine from the Incubus BattleMech were readily available to the Clan. Using five and a half tons of Compound H17 Ferro-Fibrous also taken from the Incubus the Hellion boasts full armor protection for its size. This was easily the single biggest improvement for this new Clan model as the original Hussar only had a mere twenty five percent armor coverage that its precursor enjoyed. Copying the original also made it easy for technicians to work on it as a known commodity and the interior was quite roomy despite the use of bulky weight saving materials.
The incorporation of weight-saving technology into the design left Clan Ice Hellion Warriors and Scientists with 8.5 tons of available pod-space for weapons, ammunition, and equipment.
CONFIGURATIONS
The Prime Configuration is a superb recon unit and fast-moving scout. Mounting an Active Probe and an ECM Suite, the design is armed with an ER Large Laser, an ER Medium Laser, and a Flamer. Both of the lasers are tied into a one-ton Targeting Computer for maximum accuracy at range.
Configuration A instead carries just two offensive weapon systems. A Small Pulse Laser for self-defense against infantry and an Extended-Range PPC to deal with all other threats. An Anti-Missile System (with a magazine containing 24 bursts of fire) provides additional defenses to the design.
Configuration B seeks maximum possible accuracy. Weaponry consists of a Large Pulse Laser and two Small Pulse Lasers, in addition to a Flamer.
The C Configuration features an LRM-10 launcher (with 12 flights of missiles), an SRM-4 launcher (with 25 missile flights), two ER Medium Lasers, and a Small Pulse Laser.
Configuration D increases long-range missile firepower at the expense of closer-in weapon systems. Two LRM-10 launchers are carried (with a total of 24 missile flights), along with an ER Medium Laser and an ER Small Laser.
Finally, Configuration E is a short-range infighter second to none in its weight class. Relying on its speed to enter weapons range, the primary (and longest-ranged weapon systems!) are a trio of SRM-6 launchers (with a total of 30 missile flights). In closer ranges still, four Extended Range Small Lasers only add to the carnage that the Hellion E is capable of inflicting.
DEPLOYMENT
The importance of the Hellion to the Ice Hellion Clan cannot be underestimated as the new OmniMech has taken on special roles. Much like the Orion IIC to the Wolves these machines are presented to ristars who are expected to advance quickly in the Clan Touman. They also serve at Hellion Blood Chapels as ceremonial guards which is a great honor for any Mechwarrior. For actual combat duty these new OmniMechs have been grouped into Sniper Stars which can decapitate almost any opponent.
While some Clans have criticized the Hellions for overusing large Extra Light Engines on Light OmniMechs others quickly recognized its value. Burrock,Hell's Horses, and Nova Cat were among the most interested Clans who moved quickly to acquire some for their own Touman. Blood Spirit was at the extreme decrying it as a waste of resources while moving forward with their own so-called Zombie OmniMechs.
ADDENDUM
Clan Hell's Horses was the first Clan to successfully win a Trial of Possession for the rights to produce the Hellion for their own Clan. Intended to replace their existing Fire Moth OmniMechs, the Horse Khans chose to compete for the Hellion rather than the Arctic Fox because this design nicely matched the Epona Hover Tank in speed. Not to mention, it also carried a heavier weapons payload. Used primarily as an Elemental Carrier, the Hellion is rapidly becoming an integral part of the Horse Touman.
Clan Nova Cat, as well, bid well and won their fight to acquire this light OmniMech for their own use. Serving as a fast strike element in their light Stars, it has won the praise of many Cat Warriors.
Clan Burrock lost two Trials of Possession for the design (against the Ice Hellions and then the Horses as well), but finally succeeded in 3037 in narrowly achieving a victory over Clan Nova Cat for limited production rights.
No other Clan has yet to win the right to build this design, but examples obtained through trade or captured as isorla have made their way into most of the other Clans. Two noted exceptions are Clan Blood Spirit (who consider the design too expensive for even front-line use) and Clan Goliath Scorpion (whose regimented Touman has no place for the role this OmniMech is designed to fill).
