As Gomer Pyle always used to say, "Surprise, surprise, surprise!"
What I see for this OmniMech is simple. In reaction to the introduction of the new Scorpion and Hellion OmniMechs, as well as the release of the Shadow Cat, Adder, and Dire Wolf . . . and with other Clans appearing to consider designing new OmniMechs to replace those in use, the Jaguars decided to jump onboard with all four paws!
Intent on replacing the Mist Lynx, the Arctic Cheetah comes about because of the Hellion Surge design program. Star Captain Josh Kyle (from a minor Hellion blood-line that has not been exceptional through the years) had argued that it wasn't raw speed that the Hellions needed, but mobility.
His design (the basis of which would become the 30-ton Arctic Cheetah) was not exceptional in speed, nor did it mount MASC. But it did mount the maximum number of fixed jump jets available to the chassis and engine.
But the design was rejected by the Khans and the Warrior Caste. And, in a moment of rage and pique, Star Captain Kyle sought out others who might be more willing to consider his ideas. Having already recognized the similarities between his design and the Mist Lynx, the disgruntled Warrior turned to Clan Smoke Jaguar . . . and offered both himself and the design as abtakha and isorla if they would declare a Trial of Possession.
The Jaguar Galaxy Commander he approached (Lucien Moon) was amused by this . . . and while he thought that the design would amount to nothing and that no Hellion would ever survive to become a Jaguar Warrior, he was also keenly aware of just how annoyed the Hellion leadership would be at the Jaguars "stealing" one of their designs . . . and a blood-named Warrior!
The Trial was hard-fought, one Star of light Hellion OmniMechs (older models) against a mixed force of Jaguar OmniMechs and Elementals . . . but in the end, the Jaguars won and took possession of both Bondsman Kyle and his Arctic Cheetah design.
Having amused himself, Moon turned both the Bondsman and the data over to the Khans . . . who after examining the schematics and simulations were . . . grudgingly . . . impressed.
In 3010, a Trinary of prototypes were produced and assigned to Alpha and Beta Galaxies for field testing by expert Warriors. Less than four months later, the reports that filled the desks of the Khan and saKhan and Scientist General were overwhelmingly in favor of the new design. Just as fast as the Mist Lynx, able to jump farther, having the same fixed Active Probe and one more ton of pod-space, as well as more than 43% greater armor protection (and more fixed internal structure) . . . the Arctic Cheetah was just what the Jaguars needed for their Light OmniMech Stars.
By 3011, the design was in full production. And Star Captain Josh Kyle was given a Jaguar Trinary of his own to lead after being declared abtakha and restored to the Warrior caste.
Anyway. Let's see what ya'll can do with this one!

Ah the Mist Lynx as it should have been. ;)
-
I'll get to work on this one too :)

Here's me lobbing my hat in for the Arctic Cheetah :)
Prime – Designed to fit the Jaguar’s preference for close in assaults and short-range engagements the Prime is based on the Mist Lynx A and mirrors its weapon choice of a pair of SRM-6s and ER Medium lasers as its primary armament whilst an ER Small laser fills out the final tonnage available. Whilst identical to the Mist Lynx A, the Arctic Cheetah is far more survivable. The Mist Lynx was far too fragile and easily destroyed, this was not so with the Arctic Cheetah Prime that was massively more survivable for the kind of fighting its weapons load emphasised.

A – An exceptionally simple but dangerously effective armament of four Medium pulse lasers let the Alfa config rip through hostile Mech’s in short order. The A quickly became a fearsome scout hunter and was a terror of Inner Sphere light and Medium Mech’s due to the combination of speed and agility.

B – Another close quarters brawler the Bravo initially served as a Battle Armour hunter but it was quickly adopted by Warriors who favoured the potent firepower the Bravo could bring to bear at close quarters. In tight quarters the fast Arctic Cheetah was a fearsome backstabber and ambusher. Built around a sextuplet of ER small lasers and a pair of ER medium lasers, all of which are tied into a targeting computer the Bravo can quickly thin out Elemental Points whilst supporting friendly Elemental forces. Unfortunately this generates a great deal of heat and the Bravo can easily overheat if a Warrior is not careful.

C – Filling out the role of a traditional scout the Charlie config’s electronics include a TAG and ECM whilst firepower comes from a pair of ER medium lasers and a Streak SRM-6. This config originated outside the Jaguars as that Clan saw little use for scouting due to their preferred way of fighting Trials where they would just line up and engage. Indeed the C config first emerged in the Horses and Falcons Tourmans before being reluctantly accepted by the Jaguars as a necessity during REVIVAL.

D – Appearing with Clan Ice Hellion first the Delta was, as to be expected built to engage at long range and was armed with an ER large laser and a LRM-10. Although not overly hard hitting, it was a good harasser and was exceptionally difficult to pin down in battle. During REVIVAL the firepower of a Puma and Valkyrie on a platform as fast and mobile in the jump as a Spider was a fearsome combination for Inner Sphere MechWarrior’s to face.

E – Rare and unpopular due to its limited punch the Echo was a Clan Snow Raven design and was unique to them until REVIVAL when the need to counter VTOL’s was more urgently needed. Armed with a LB-2 pattern autocannon and 2-tons of ammunition the Echo could harass and snipe at targets from extreme range whilst providing some anti-aircraft firepower. An ER medium laser and ER small laser rounded its armament off but the weight of the cannon and its ammunition were not liked by most Warriors and its deployment was seen as an unwelcome necessity by most.

F – A simple weapons swap of the Echo that replaced the LB-2 autocannon with an LRM-20 and 2-tons of ammunition was far more popular despite having less battlefield endurance. Used in large numbers by the Falcons, Wolves and Bears during REVIVAL as all three Clans valued the increased firepower it brought to a Light Star during a battle.
