Out of story, this was one I was REALLY looking forward to, as two of my favorite assault mechs are in this bracket (the Battlemaster and Rampage)
In Story
the Clans as a whole were appalled by the actions of Clan Smoke Jaguar during the invasion. While Nicholas Kerensky saw value in have a clan who could and would engage in warfare in the style of urban street gangs, seeing first hand the consequences in the Draconis Combine brought many Clans Warriors pause. None were more appalled however then newly minted Ghost Bear Khan Alethea Kabrinski. The Bears own value system saw the whole sale slaughter of Turtle Bay as the deepest anathema, and she converted her great work the "systematic erasure of One of the Great Father's most grievous errors in judgment." Her first target was to systematically remove the Jaguar's ability to contribute the the Clans war fighting capability, starting with what she felt was their most effective home designed mech, the Warhawk.
She called for an omnimech to be designed that could outmaneuver and outfight the Masakari in the Inner Sphere and beyond. the focus on frontal assaults was abandoned, and instead the Razorclaw was built to dive head long into the fray and engage threats on multiple levels. Aletha named this mech "Razorclaw" after the name she gave the Ghost Bear she hunted when she went on her clawing.
The Primary configuration of the Razor Claw emphasizes the Multi Threat Warfare role. the Primary Weapons are an 88mm Autocannon taken from standard Omnimech stocks, twin Artimes guided LRM 10 racks, and a Large Pulse laser. each of these weapons provides reach, heavy firepower, and the ability to saturate both battlemech and conventional assets. twin medium pulse lasers and a Streak SRM 6 pack back up these weapons for more close in punch and exploiting damaged units. for Defensive capabilites the Prme also sports an Active Probe, Anti Missile System and Anti Personnel Flamer.
Alternate Configuration A is a mech Destroyer inspiried by Clan Jade Falcons Wakazashi. a Gauss Rifle, LB-20X Autocannon and ERPPC make up the offensive weaponry, providing overwhelming firepower on target and the speed to bring the massive autocannon to bear. a pair of medium lasers back up the heavy weapon array and an anti missile system makes counter fire difficult.
Alternate B and C Are direct Stab at "Anything you can do I can do better", Mimicking the Warhawk B and C almost perfectly. Target Assisted Large Pusle lasers and ERPPCs in the arms make up the sole weaponry of this variant, with nine additional heat sinks to keep heat marginally under control. the Other utulizes an LB-10x cannon, LRM 15 and SRM 6 with targeting assistence and a pair of large lasers. a Streak system for the SRM was foregone infavor of being able to carry Inferno ammunition, again as a drect response to Inner Sphere Warfare.
Alternate Configuration D is a LRM Saturation mech inspired by the Falcons Night Gyr. Four LRM 20 racks with enough ammunition for 90 seconds of sustained fire dominate the mechs firepower, with a Large and Medium Pulse Laser for self defense.
Alternate Configuration D is a take on a famous Star League Design, the Devastator. Twin Gauss Rifles occupy the arms with a four ton ammunition bin split between them. a Pair of ER Large lasers are mounted in a very well protected Center torso and paired ER Medium lasers provide additional point blank firepower. that the E perfectly matches the forward firepower of the 100 ton monster of the SLDF is a source of pride for bear scientists.
Alternate Configuration F is a take on the SLDF Victor. Jump Jets enhance the already impressive maneuverability of the Razorclaw, and an Ultra 20 Autocannon with deep ammunition bins make the mech able to keep up the fight for protreacted city fighting. Two ER large lasers permit the Razorclaw to keep up the fight outside of built up terrain, and a Streak Six and full electronics suite make the F a force multipier.
Finally there is the configuration Khan Kabrinski has chosen for herself. Giving up her traditional firemoth, she has taken the first completed Razorclaw off the lineand had it outfitted after the BLR-1Gb model Battlemaster. twin large pulse lasers and a Centerline PPC provide the bulk of the firepower, with a quartet of medium pulse lasers to add to the alpha strike at point blank range, or provide withering fire against elementals and fast movers. all these weapons are given targeting assistance and 7 additional heat sinks make combat manageable, provided one uses thier weapons wisely.
Khan Kabrinski's first order of business with this new mech was to travel to Huntress with Alpha and Omega Galaxies and issue a Trial of Posession for the Warhawk Factory, with the intention of dismantling it.
