...Seems to me there's a program called "Solaris"-something.  Free, but I don't know where to find it, and it might be easier to try to fix what's wrong with your system.

Why not post the problem and ask for help here, or on the official site, and see if you can get somebody with computer expertise to help?

Only three program groups that I can think of off the top of my head that would be worth looking into:
     Heavy Metal (very outdated)
     Solaris Werks (Mechs done, Vehicles started)
     MegaMekLab (haven't tried this one yet, looks to have Mechs and Vehicles done)

As for your problems with SSW and Java, have you tried downloading and installing a fresh JRE?

Yeah, I have uninstalled and reinstalled java twice at both the rte level as well as the development kits from v6 that they use on ssw and v7 that its highly suggested you start using as they are no longer updating 6.

I'm going to try a fresh install of ssw tonight if I have the te.  My issue with hmpro is I have had a couple of computers since I bought it, and have lost the programs.  I bought it long enough ago that they don't have my info on it anymore(at least 6 years now)

As for vees and aerospace, I don have any of the newfangled vooks(I haven't actually played bt in years.  Again at least 5 or 6.  So I am missing all of the core books from tw etc.  I still have my 3e compendium and many other sourcebooks, but again all is outdated.  I have no clue as to the rules for all of this 3085 stuff:(.   I'm not an old fan, just an old school fan.   That and since I stopped playing, I honestly have really delved only into universe fluff and story.  It's been so long since I've had a mini on a table, but I was hooked on story and background, never by actual play.

Gotta try some of these.
