A Warhammer for every house
« on: October 25, 2012, 11:31:51 PM »

Inspired as I was by the Kurita Warhammer from Era report 2750, I decided to have some fun with the concept.  sooooooooo.  lets review with the Warhammer 6Rk.

Code: [Select]
Warhammer WHM-6Rk

Battle Value: 1,621

Chassis: StarCorps 100 Standard
Power Plant: VOX 350 Fusion XL Engine
Walking Speed: 54.0 km/h
Maximum Speed: 86.4 km/h
Jump Jets: None
    Jump Capacity: 0 meters
Armor: Leviathon Plus Standard Armor
Armament:
    2 Donal PPCs
    1  SRM-6
    2 Martell Medium Lasers
    2 Magna Small Lasers
    2 SperryBrowning Machine Guns
Manufacturer: StarCorps Industries, Olivetti Weaponry, Vandenberg Mechanized Industries, Taurus Territorial Industries
Primary Factory: Emris IV (StarCorps), Sudeten (Olivetti), Pinard (VMI), Taurus (TTI)
Communications System: O/P 3000 COMSET
Targeting and Tracking System: O/P 1500 ARB

Deployment:
First deployed in 2515, the Warhammer has served
admirably in every major action in the Inner Sphere and
beyond, from the liberation of Terra from Stefan Amaris to
the bloody fi elds of Marduk in 3039. Every Successor State
military makes use of the design, and it is held in high regard
by mercenaries and Periphery nations.
The Warhammer is produced in several factories, most
notably in the Free Worlds League and Lyran Commonwealth.
Surprisingly, two small facilities exist in the Taurian
Concordat, slowly bringing new ’Mechs to that faraway
Periphery nation. No manufacturer has ever scaled back
production of this ’Mech, as demand has always increased
with each new battle report.

My FWL Warhammer dispenses with the traditional weapons to mount large lasers, and Multiple LRM 5s, both weapons the FWL Favors.  the 6Rf also shares the 6Rk's speed.

I always pictured the Cappelans being masters of warfare around difficult terrain.  Jump jets allow broken terrain mobility, pulse lasers make up for the jumping, and the machine guns where kept for anti infantry defense.  it is a major heat hog, make no mistakes, the secondary weapons are STRICTLY to keep the mech cool and rate of fire up.

House Steiner's is a command platform.  slower, but with longer reach and cooler running.  the expanded cockpit keeps the battalion operating smoothly, the ECM protects against the SLDFs advanced electronic warfare and the maximized armor makes this the toughest of the era hammers

House Davion knew the Warhammer was designed to take out other mechs, after all they designed the Hammerhands (and many conisder the older platform superior)
AFFS Planners saw the threat of the SLDFs single platform companies particularly when under threat of fire support companies of archers, longbows, and whitworths. so dropping the machine guns in favor of Anti Missile Systems and maximizing armor made sense to AFFS Planners.

No manufacturer has ever scaled back
production of this ’Mech, as demand has always increased
with each new battle report.

the Rin Worlds Warhammer tries to split the difference and improve on the SLDF Royal 6Rb while minimizing exotic technology use.using 15 double heat sinks allows armor to be increased so that any single location can recieve a hit from an assault autocannon.  the small caliber weapons were replaced with additional medium lasers, and CASE was added to the SRM rack, making the platform much more survivable

Inspired as I was by the Kurita Warhammer from Era report 3062, I decided to have some fun with the concept.

I must have missed that quote. I assume it has something to do with the SL era?

I have to say JP this is very impressive work. Love the concept and the limited modifications that put an elegant spin on my favorite Mech. ;)

It is so good I'd love permission to use this for BT Shattered Dawn for the Houses.

Nice job!

for the record I meant era report 2750, I had all three extant era reports open on my computer when I was doing this and 3062 was on the top of the stack at the time.  my apologies.

Always!

I was surprised your Davion version didn't go more Hammerhands like using AC/10s, an XL engine and EndoSteel to maintain the 4/6 speed with a cooler arsenal that reduces the amount of heat sinks needed. A full crossover of both Mechs. How is this? No jump jets from the Hammerhands but I managed to pack on everything else including max armor and anti missile systems.

I did not consider that route cause the hammerhands is the symbol of heavy mech perfection in my mind.

The line that u used in the Davion Warhammer fluff was the inspiration. Im sure the AFFS does consider the Hammerhands better so why not combine the old and the new.
