Overview:
Looking for ways to bolster the defenses of their homeworld, which remains exposed to Jade Falcon and Steel Viper raids, Coventry Metal Works appealed to Duke Bradford for support in repairing their long out of service Dervish production line. Calling on his close friendship with Melissa Steiner-Davion through her mother, the Duke pushed the request and with technical support from Achernar (the Inner Sphere's one remaining manufacturer of the design) and NAIS, full production is due to resume shortly.


Capabilities:
Rather than retain the classic mixed missile load, CMW decided to optimise their payload uncompromisingly for close quarters missile attacks. Four SRM racks leave it comparatively little firepower, but the real core of the DV-7S are the twin NARC launchers, which can be used to mark up to a dozen enemy 'Mechs both for its own missiles and for compatible missiles in other units.

The chassis is very similar to that of Achernar's own prototypes with advanced materials throughout, but CMW decided that the close ranges likely required additional armour plating. Between this, the advanced ammunition storage and the standard reactor, the Dervish is surprisingly survivable so long as mechwarriors remember their role is to hit and then run.


Battle History:
During training exercises against a company of the 8th Deneb Light Cavalry, the Coventry Militia deployed the first prototype alongside three older Dervishes loaded with compatible LRMs. Not realising what they were fighting, a Deneb Light Lance tried to get inside the lance's LRM range only to find themselves marked with beacons as the older Dervishes scattered, each firing not on their own attackers but those stalking their brethren. The exercise ended with both lances forced to retire - not a bad result for a planetary militia up against a frontline command.


Deployment:
While the Coventry militia got the first use of the 'Mech, it's also been shipped to nearby regiments facing the Occupation Zone. Mercenary units in the area have also placed orders, with the Northwind Highlanders requesting a full company. This is likely because mercs feel it's cheaper to buy one or two Dervishes to spot and supply their fire support units with Narc-compatible missiles than it is to upgrade their entire forces. In addition, parts for the Dervish should be readily available even its more advanced aspects, given it's in wide use by the AFFC.

Perhaps there are more variants that are undocumented Bradshaw or maybe the original configuration fit a niche so well that it never changed.

with this information being what is thought, the refit yards on   provided a number of changes for the Dervish. They started with changing the chassis from normal to endo steel, which freed up weight for an increase in fire power. The next change was swapping the regular engine with a XL  engine which freed up much more weight. The LRM 10 were replaced with LRM 5s, which allows for the missile to be doubled, with the same amount of reloads. This allowed for the maximum amount of armor and CASE, allowing for these battlemechs to last longer. With three medium lasers added the new Dervish could and would provide the march militia units with great firepower. With the changing of were the medium lasers to the arms this allowed for hands to be added which improved the battlemechs abilities.

Overview:
As a result of the Succession Wars, the Capellan Confederation fields a number of Dervishes obtained as salvage from the AFFS. Parts production wasn't difficult as the design had been widely licensed between 2520 and 2700. In particular, the StarCorps Industries facility on Menke had been set up during the early Succession Wars, shipping the production from the exposed main plant on Fletcher (providentially, since the Fletcher site was destroyed during the First Succession War).

Among the benefits of Romano Liao's attendance of the Outreach Conference of 3051 was access to advanced technology and the refit of Dervishes was seen as a low-cost way of putting some of it to the test.


Capabilities:
The refit Dervish gives up the jumpjets in favour of a major torso refit that expands the size of the missile launchers and the ammunition bins, providing long range firepower equal to a Catapult while boasting twice the battlefield endurance. The larger missiles are an older Hollis design originally used in the Age of War, a weapon that had been put back into production after the Fourth Succession War to try to make good lost factories in the Sarna Commonality.

The armour around the missile launchers has been improved with the use of improved materials and CASE reduces the risk of an ammunition explosion gutting the lightly protected 'Mech. Additional armour plating has been fitted around the cockpit as well.

Unable to easily replicate the original missile launchers, StarCorps removed them in favour of manipulators that give the Dervish far more dexterity than the original paddles. Medium lasers are still fitted outboard of the forearms, but as standard the refits use Capellan-built CeresArms models


Deployment:
McCarron's Armoured Cavalry, being based on Menke, got first access to the refits which the rest of the CCAF largely accepted since the design is mostly associated with the hated House Davion. However, as Catapults are pulled aside to be refitted as Arrow-IV platforms, Dervishes are replacing them in fire support lances. The new Chancellor is in talks with StarCorps about expanding the refit line to full production of new Dervishes going forwards.

Achernar Battlemechs used every bit of recovered they had at their disposal when it came to redesignin the Dervish. Their ultimate goal was to make the it a more well-rounded Mech. With better armor protection and better combat effectiveness at shorter ranges. With the application an endo-steel chassis and a new extra-light engine, one of the LRM10 launchers is replaced by an LRM15 launcher while the other is replaced by a trio of Streak SRM-2 launchers. Matched pairs of standard and pulsed medium lasers are located in each arm with an anti-missile system mounted in the head. Three extra tons of armor have been added for increased protection. In field testing, some mechwarriors replaced one ton of SRM ammo with another ton of anti-missile ammo.

As an ally (and protectorate) of the Federated Suns, the St.Ives Compact was a buffer state between itsw ally and it former ruler, the Capellan Confederation and it needed every weapon it could get its collective hands on. Lacking a Mech that was a true LRM carrier, the commanding Senior Colonels petitioned the St. Ives Military Command (SIMC) to ask their ally (an protector) for access to the plans for the DV-6M Dervish to fill this strategic gap in their inventory.
After some intense negotiations, a deal was worked out that see Ceres Metals produce the Dervish with any, if it existed, excess production being made available to the AFFS at cost.

One of the first things that Ceres Metal did when the contents of the Helm Core were made available to them was to begin an upgrade program for the Dervish. The first changes made were the additions of an endo-steel chassis and 275-series extra-light engine. This freed up enough weight to replace the LRM10 launchers with LRM15 launchers with two tons of ammunition for each launcher. The SRM launchers were stripped away and replaced with two medium pulse laser, two medium lasers and a small pulse laser. With the remaining weight savings two tons of armor were added to the Dervish's chassis for a 27% increase in armor protection. Production levels for the standard Dervish have remained low due to the need to produce more Marauder battlemechs to help replace the losses to the AFFS and LCAF following the Clan invasion. Should this new model be approved, it is expected that production levels will increase to fill orders from the SIMC, AFFS and the LCAF.

Another creation of Achernar Battlemechs. this time from their small facility on Cahokia. This creation is a mobile anti-aircraft battlemech that features a pair of Mydron 2 AC/2s in place of the LRM systems with a ton of ammo for each gun. It uses the Garrett D2j targeting system found on the Rifleman and the guns elevate from -8° to +75° giving the guns excellent vertical range and with a quick turning torso it can track fast movers very well. Secondary weaponry consists of a pair Streak SRM2 launchers and a quartet of ChisComp small and medium lasers.

Based on the new DV-7D Dervish designed by Achernar Battlemechs, the DV-7B removes all the short-range missile racks, AMS and the medium pulse lasers. In their place are a pair of small pulse lasers, an extra double heat sink and more armor. The main addition is the new Binary Laser Cannon developed by Johnston Industries called the BlazeFire DoubleShot. The Blazer is a very deadly weapon that has killing power superior to the standard PPC, but is burdened with high heat production. While the heat sink dissipation is less than effective in an alpha strike, it is more than adequate when heat discipline and bracket fire are used properly.

Overview:
This lone prototype of a close quarter combat variant of the Dervish designed
and built by Dr. Svein Gudmundsun and his team at a top secret Comstar facility
in the late 3040s. Using some of the technologies recovered from the Helm core
and those that have been long hidden by Comstar. All weapons are considered
short-range and includes a quartet of Streak SRM-2s and a sextet of medium
lasers. However, the two most important improvements are the pair of
retractable blades and the application of triple-strength myomers throughout
the chassis.


There are no jump jets on this Dervish, but maximum ground speed has been
increased by 40% and can reach speeds of nearly 120 kph.This is allows for a
certain amount of tactical mobility not found in the original model.


Upon completion of this project, Dr. Gudmundsun was re-assigned to Dr. Devon
Courtland's secret Omnitechnolgy project using recovered Clan technology
slavaged from Tukayyid.
