I've discovered an error in my own design. I apparently forgot to account for the Jump Jets.

How embarrassing!

Working on the correction along with some other modifications. Anyone else working on Javelins??

Okay folks my 11S is all fixed and I still have two more (one Draconis and one Marik) to go.

That is cool Bradshaw but I was asking if masterarminas, Ice Hellion, David CGB, or anyone else is jumping in with the Javelin. ;)

The JVN-11NAIS Javelin is a prototype design for the Federated Suns produced at the New Avalon Institute of Science.  Borrowing the newly developed 180XL extra-light fusion engine from the Lyran Commonwealth Hatchetman production line, the NAIS engineers managed to save three-and-a-half tons.  The chassis was slightly redesigned to add CASE (Celluar Ammunition Storage Equipment) to both the right and left torso as well as a Medium Laser to the right arm (providing the new Javelin with a non-ammunition dependent weapon system).  The final ton was used to boost the armor protection to 5.5 tons--but all of that armor was newly developed Ferro-Fibrous plating (giving the 30-ton BattleMech more than 93% of maximum possible armor coverage for a bipedal design).  Finally, the 10 standard heat sinks were replaced with 10 double-strength heat sinks, allowing the new Javelin to jump and fire without generating any excess overheat.

Speed and maneuverability remained the same, but the new Javelin possessed great firepower, was better protected, no longer had issues with overheat production, and no longer feared an ammunition explosion from killing the MechWarrior assigned to the 'Mech.  The price tag was quite a bit higher than standard JVN-10N Javelins, the NAIS and AFFS/AFFC evaluators acknowledged.  But all in all, they agreed the new components were well worth the added expense.

While criticized in the Lyran Commonwealth as an oversized Commando, the AFFS showed great interest in the design.  Plans are underway on New Avalon for a limited production run of this war-machine for combat testing in the field.

Very good masterarminas!

I am currently posting a Kurita reseen (story to follow) version while working on a Robinson variant and a Free Worlds League Border Protectorate Javelin (think NARC). None of mine sadly hit the scout theme of the original fluff though.

YR-2K YARI

Mass: 30 tons
Chassis: Duralyte 246
Power Plant: GM 180
Cruising Speed: 64 kph
Maximum Speed: 97 kph
Jump Jets: Rawlings 45
Jump Capacity: 180 meters
Armor: Mitchell Argon Ferro-Fibrous
Armament: 5 Diverse Optics 20 Medium Lasers
Manufacturer: Diverse Optics, Inc.
   Primary Factory: Kessel
Communications System: Garret T-10B
Targeting and Tracking System: Dynatec 128C

OVERVIEW
The Clan Invasion left the Dieron Military District bereft of defenders as its most vaunted Regulars were repositioned to help halt their advance. While salvaged Mechs like the Javelin were available for new units thanks to generations of salvage and the close proximity of Caph many Draconis Mechwarriors were not pleased piloting this traditional Davion design. So even though the Combine possessed the most Javelins outside the Federated Commonwealth many sat unused. It was Isoroku Kurita who decided to make this Mech a true Kurita war machine and ordered it upgraded with a more Kuritan look. This Japanification of the Javelin helped overcome any lingering resistance to the BattleMech in the Arm of the Dragon and greatly pleased the Coordinator who dubbed it the Yari.

CAPABILITIES
Essentially a Javelin with a neo-samurai appearance the Yari was based on the original JVN-10 F or Fire variant. Extensive refurbishment of this BattleMech was carried out on Kessel by Diverse Optics whose Type 20 Medium Lasers armed the new machine. To the heat from these five mid-sized energy weapons and any maneuvering including repeated jumping Double Heat Sinks were incorporated. A C3 Slave was also added to the Yari allowing it to link its fire with lance mates or even a company if so equipped. Finally, six tons of Mitchell Argon Ferro-Fibrous provided maximum protection for this thirty tonner as well as a completely new look. Not surprisingly it now resembles a mini Hatamoto-Chi from which it draws this new advanced armor. Other than that, much remains unchanged from the Javelin including its chassis, power plant, jump jets, and basic electronics.

DEPLOYMENT
The end product has thus far proven to be a highly reliable BattleMech in the DCMS which unsurprisingly serves mostly in the Dieron Regulars. The Yari has already seen limited combat with raiders from the Draconis March ironically armed with the JVN-10D. Not surprisingly a rivalry has sprung up between this historical enemies with each claiming their model is better. Other Kurita units like Ryuken and the Sohei have begun to take notice of the Yari as well requesting new machines for their own use.

Home sick, just finished a new variant with the 11S which is the 11D and completed the Yari. Gonna work on two more. The 10D which is a relatively low tech lostech version (Double Heat Sinks and Ferro-Fibrous) fielded by the Draconis March (Robinson) and the speedy but not jumping 11M from the Free Worlds League Border Protectorate which is a NARC version.

The JVN-11J is a proposal submitted by Defiance Industries facility on Furillo. The facility has spent the better part of the past two decades reverse engineering the Javelin for use as a scout Mech in the Lyran Lightning Companies. Success was achieved in the late 3040s with advent of recovered technologies such as double heat sinks and ferro-fibrous armor. Using the GM 180 found in the Hatchetman and re-designed it to mount double heat sinks. The JVN-11J is based on the JVN-10F and uses some design elements of the JVN-10N. The JVN-11J mounts a pair of standard medium lasers and a pair of Streak SRM2s that share a ton of ammunition. A flamer is mounted in the right arm as anti-infantry/Battle Armor defense. Armor protection is provided by five tons of ferro-fibrous armor with a light decrease in protection from the base JVN-10F on which this model is based.

Very nice Abele, here is the next one from me and I had to go back to fix the Yari which should be fine now.

JVN-10D JAVELIN

Mass: 30 tons
Chassis: Duralyte 246
Power Plant: GM 180
Cruising Speed: 64 kph
Maximum Speed: 97 kph
Jump Jets: Rawlings 45
Jump Capacity: 180 meters
Armor: Valiant Scutum Ferro-Fibrous
Armament: 6 ChisComp 39 Medium Lasers
Manufacturer: Robinson Standard BattleWorks
   Primary Factory: Robinson
Communications System: Garret T-10B
Targeting and Tracking System: Dynatec 128C

OVERVIEW
The reassignment of thirty-seven BattleMech regiments to the Clan front left the Draconis March with only twenty six percent of its defenders. James Sandoval sought for ways to augment his existing forces but faced many obstacles. His March lacked direct access to lostech products because of still rebuilding industries from the Succession Wars. It also didn’t help that units on the Clan front had clear priority from the FedCom logistics chain. While these difficulties did somewhat impede modernization efforts of Draconis March forces a simple but effective number of refits were implemented. Using an old school approach many traditional Davion design like the Javelin could be improved on.

CAPABILITIES
Engineers on Robinson relying on Double Heat Sinks and Ferro-Fibrous as their only available lostech upgrades used the Fire Javelin approach to create the JVN-10D. Removing the dual SRM-6s and their ammunition designers first addressed the BattleMechs armored protection. Six tons of Valiant Scutum Ferro-Fibrous from nearby Valiant Systems maximized the Javelin’s defenses. With the armor optimized technicians turned to arsenal and were able to mounted six ChisComp 39 Medium Lasers from another BattleMech design soon to be revealed from Robinson BattleWorks. The heat generated by these weapons combined with running is cooled perfectly by Double Heat Sinks. Jumping can result in overheating but pilots should be able to mitigate any ill effects by alternating movement or rate of fire. Since this is familiar to the old Javelin designs many Mechwarriors don’t mind especially given the fact that these energy weapons generate twenty percent more firepower than its predecessors two SRM packs.

DEPLOYMENT
An excellent raider capable of long-term independent missions many Davion Mechwarriors on extended patrols have raved about the performance of the new JVN-10D. While not as high tech as the 11S from New Avalon or the 11D from New Syrtis many die hard pilots actually prefer this model. It should also be noted that a fierce rivalry has already emerged between the JVN-10D and the Draconis Yari. Officially referred to as the JVN-10K by Davion Mechwarriors this remarkably similar rip off has already tangled with the 10D.

Last Javelin for me folks. Only one more day left for any more entries!

JVN-11M JAVELIN

Mass: 30 tons
Chassis: Duralyte 246
Power Plant: Hermes 240 XL
Cruising Speed: 86.4 kph
Maximum Speed: 129.6 kph
Jump Jets: None
Jump Capacity: None
Armor: Kallon FWL Special Ferro-Fibrous
Armament: 1 Octagon Missile Magnet Narc Missile Launcher
   1 Arrowlite SRM 6 Rack
1 Magna Mk II Medium Laser
Manufacturer: Golem Industries
   Primary Factory: Zion
Communications System: Garret T-10B
Targeting and Tracking System: Dynatec 128C

OVERVIEW
The Marik propensity for missile boats paired with NARC Beacon carriers grew rapidly during the Civil War. No less than five manufacturers made these targeting aides which enabled their lances to carry large groups of small missile racks (LRM-5s) which could perform more efficiently than the bigger cousins. The coreward provinces of the League searched for their own NARC deliverer and thanks to salvaged Javelins soon launched a variant for their use.

CAPABILITIES
With the bulk of the Marik Javelins being found in the Border Protectorate and the relative ease of switching one of its SRM-6 packs for a NARC Launcher the project began there with a new comer, Golem Industries. Associated with the Zion Defenders whose equipment mostly came from Rasalhague and the Federated Commonwealth this new Mech refurbishment company proposed a deal. Using the Hermes 240 XL Engine which had quickly proliferated the InnerSphere thanks to the lostech Rifleman refit and Kallon FWL Special Ferro-Fibrous both imported from Thermopolis they could enhance the Javelin’s speed while maximizing the armor. Along with the Octagon Missile Magnet Narc Missile Launcher and Magna Mk II Medium Laser from Kalidasa which help add punch to the war machine’s arsenal they could create a potent new upgrade. Thankfully all three players agreed for a share of the refitted production. Unfortunately, the Jump Jets had to be removed and no CASE could be included raising some questions about pilot safety. However, a Javelin that moves as fast as a Locust to deliver its NARC payload was to good to pass up for these minor concerns.

DEPLOYMENT
The JVN-11M has appeared in the provincial forces of the Border Protectorate, ThermoStar League, and Silver Hawks Coalition earning derision from traditional Marik troops as a foreign design. No doubt its performance against these very same forces went far in establishing this native prejudice.

Type: JVN-11M Javelin

Overview
Faced with the reposting of most forces in the Draconis March to the Clan front, Duke James Sandoval feared that his forces would be unable to fight against the true mortal enemy of House Davion: House Kurita.
This is why he sponsored with his own funds an upgrade program designed to make the most of the rear-guard units he was left with as the Clan Juggernaut brought down regiment after regiment of the AFFC.
Knowing that Jalastar Aerospace was planning (with the benediction of the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth) to build a ‘Mech factory, he offered them to invest at their side in order to get the new plant working as fast as possible. In exchange, he would be offered the possibility to select the first ‘Mechs produced and get production batches at half the price.
Remembering the fight on Marduk years ago, he selected an icon of the former Armed Forces of the Federated Suns: the Javelin.

Capabilities
Learning from centuries of combat, the engineers at Jalastar Aerospace helped by the experience of Kommandant David Albion have tried to improve the traditional Javelin, creating the JVN-11C.
The first part was to improve the protection thanks to 4 tons of Ferro-Fibrous armour (an increase f 16% of the original protection) coupled with the use of CASE and of a Guardian ECM Suite to make the Javelin live up to the sentence “sneaky as a Javelin.”
The firepower provided by the twin SRM-6 was deemed sufficient but two tons of Narc compatible warheads were selected to improve their efficiency. As a back-up and inspired by the Fire Javelin, one Medium Laser was put in each arm. Thanks to its generous supplies of Martel Medium Lasers for the Sparrowhawk, Jalastar Aerospace had no need to open a new line for these weapons.
With 10 Double Heat Sinks is running cool enough to alpha strike and even jump up to 120 meters that its 4 Jump Jets allows it. This decrease in mobility was one of the needed sacrifices made to improve both its offensive and defensive capacities. The other sacrifice was the increased vulnerability of a 180 XL Engine, provided by the newest Johnston Industries factory. This was only made possible thanks to the personal intervention of Duke Sandoval.

Battle History
The first blood drawn by the new Javelin was during one of the multiple skirmishes fought by the Raman Draconis March Militia. In a repetition of the battle of Marduk, a Light Lance engaged and destroyed an armour company of the DCMS. Using the mobility, their improved stealthiness and their increased firepower, a mixed Lance of 3 JVN-11-C and 1 JVN-10-Q managed to ambush and quickly destroy a column of tanks in a canyon.
Duke James Sandoval was so pleased that he wanted to give a medal to the members of this Lance. However because of the non aggression state between the Draconis Combine and the Federated Commonwealth, the AFFC has made it clear that this was a no-go and the Duke didn’t dare to begin a struggle with the High Command.

Deployment
Due to the origins of the funding that helped Jalastar Aerospace to develop their ‘Mech production lines, the lion share of the new Javelin has been assigned to the forces in the Draconis March with the 10th Deneb Light Cavalry receiving the first production run for “further tests and development of new tactics” while the 2nd Robinson Rangers, a light-weight unit, had enough faith in the new Javelin to upgrade all of them to the new JVN-10-Q standards creating mixed units.

Variants
Jalastar Aerospace has begun the production of a retrofit pack that brings classical Javelin to a new standard, the JVN-10-Q. Designed to work with the 11-C, it packs the same mobility and protection, with a Guardian ECM, a Narc Launcher with two tons of ammo and two Medium Lasers. This “sneaky” Javelin is intended to work together with units of 11-C or other Narc equipped launchers, improving their efficiency.

Notable ‘MechWarriors
Kommandant David Albion is a specialist in the use of the Javelin since the War of 3039 and as part of his duties, he was awarded the first  JVN-11-C by to develop new ways of making it the AFFC more efficient against both the Kuritan forces and the new Clan opponents.
