Ajax LAM
« on: November 01, 2019, 02:27:42 PM »

was just re-reading "the Spider and the Wolf" for the first time in .... er...25 years?  And realized in the opening battle, there was a Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross Lockheed VFH-10 Auroran AGACS (Robotech Ajax) portrayed in 3 panels.

Couldn't find any mention for it. Figured I'd thrown together a design for it and I found a nice updated image of the design on the web that fits more with todays style of drawings.

The Ajax was going to be the next gen LAM for the Star League. The Ajax had a less extensive transformation process compared to conventional LAM fighters allowing the design to have a quicker transformation sequence. All its weapons were mounted in gun or missile pods making it easy to switch and maintain. The Ajax proved to be a highly successful design though it suffered from the fact it was designed just as the Amaris Civil War began causing it to never go into major production.

The only working prototype to exist was abandoned on Calloway VI by the Test Pilot and his flight engineer team as the Civil War broke out and they were unable to return to Terran space. Fearing the design being seized by a hostile Free Worlds League military the design was buried an hoped to be recovered at a later date. The test pilot and his teams fate has never been uncovered, but the Ajax was found itself in 3014 but it and its history was not revealed until it was sold for scrap to the local Comstar facility and its serial numbers were run through the ROM databanks.

Cool drawing bud. Too bad BattleTech has gone away from the LAM even though the Charger II makes me wish they never endorsed the concept in the first place. ;)
