Despite being so new to the SLDF the panther was already back on the drawing board for an SLDF Royal upgrade. Regular army and territorial state powers all stated the same thing, that on an individual basis the Panther was too slow for a machine it's size. while nominally not an issue for the SLDF and it's mass deployment stratagem, the point was conceded enough that a 175 XL engine was installed in new model panthers (Complete with a Double Heat Sink upgrade) the weight savings brought about by the engine and Ferro Fibrous armor were used to increase the Panthers Utility as a fire support platform for reconnisance regiments, rather then firepower.
the Royal Panther sadly never made it into production, with only a handful upgraded by hand, and those upgrades falling to the RWA rather then the SLDF. like many upgrades they know how to produce the mech was lost with the collapse of the Star league.
