I said before, your speed requirements are Bollocks.  you notice every Zombie mech I chuck them out, and by your own admission they tend to outperform other entries on paper, and get rejected on things like names rather  then tactical considerations.

Golden Lion



Overview
The Golden Lion is a heavy-weight OmniMech designed by a collaborative team from Clans Goliath Scorpion and Steel Viper.  The name derives from the SLDF 328th Royal BattleMech Division (The Lion-Hearted) which survives to this day as the Wolf 328th Assault Cluster.

Khan Zalman selected the name not to honor the Wolves, but rather to irritate the ilKhan, whom he blames for the Vipers poor showing at Tukayyid and during the final Wave of Operation Revival.  Zalman has come to believe that the true reason Clan Steel Viper was not assigned their own invasion corridor after being activated was not to supplement Clan Jade Falcon as the ilKhan has insisted, but rather entwine the two bitter enemies in intra-clan conflict while the Wolves remained free to operate without interference from another Clan within THEIR corridor.

The Wolves have taken particular exception to the naming of this OmniMech (as Zalman anticipated) and have fought a Trial of Grievance to force a name change . . . a trial which Clan Wolf narrowly lost when they faced a full Binary of Golden Lion prototypes on Strana Mechty.

Despite the ilKhan's frustration over the name, Khan Zalman believes that the design itself is good enough to serve as the replacement for the first-generation OmniMech, the Woodsman.  Based upon the highly successful Viper-designed Black Python BattleMech, the Golden Lion took just four months to move from concept to prototype, with the only outside assistance being the acquisition of Tokasha 300 standard fusion engines from Clan Goliath Scorpion (taken from the Stone Rhino production lines).

Although slightly slower than most Clan front-line heavy OmniMechs, the use of the standard engine has allowed for excellent armor protection and a VERY large amount of pod-space (34 tons, in fact).  All at a cost in resources of around 42.6% of Clan Wolf's signature Timber Wolf OmniMech.  Khan Zalman trusts that this design will show his fellow Khans that the Vipers are indeed a force to be feared in both the Homeworlds and the Inner Sphere.


Capabilities
Massing 75 tons, the Golden Lion uses a Tokasha 300 standard fusion engine to provide power for weapons, equipment, and movement.  Standard walking speed is 43.2 kilometers per hour with a maximum running speed of 64.8 kph.  No jump jets or MASC were fitted to the base chassis, allowing the Viper design team to maximize the available pod-space.

A modified version of the BP-2 endo-steel chassis used on the Black Python was utilized in the design, along with twelve full tons of Armorweave NK 62 ferro-fibrous plating.  In an unusual move, the Viper scientists did not 'bank' additional double-strength heat sinks in the engine; although this freed up two additional tons for pod-space, it also served to reduce the internal volume when large numbers of DHS are required.  In typical Viper design fashion, the arms were left completely free of fixed internal components; the endo-steel and ferro-fibrous were concentrated in the legs and torsos, although UNLIKE the majority of Viper designs, the Golden Lion is able to mount Omnipods in the center and side torsos (albeit, smaller ones).

Pod-space was left at a hefty 34.0 tons.

The Prime Configuration is an energy-weapon laden beast, featuring twin ER PPCs (right arm and left arm), supported by eight Medium Pulse Lasers (four each in the right and left torso).  Sixteen Double-strength Heat Sinks allow for the use of either the PPC battery or the Medium Pulse Laser battery while remaining heat-neutral or generating only movement heat.

Configuration A is an effort to tweak the nose of Clan Wolf.  This configuration is armed in an identical manner as the Timber Wolf Prime:  each arm carries an ER Large Laser and an ER Medium Laser, supported by two LRM-20 launchers (right torso and left torso), two Machine-Guns (right torso and left torso, fed by a half-ton of ammunition), and a Medium Pulse Laser (left torso). Seventeen DHS are fitted . . . the same as the Timber Wolf Prime.  In fact, the ONLY difference between the two designs is that the Golden Lion A carries four tons of LRM ammunition instead of two, increasing endurance.

Configuration B has been fitted with four jump jets (two each in the right and left torso).  Armament consists of two ER Lasers in the left arm (an ER Large and an ER Medium), supporting a Streak SRM-4 launcher in the left torso (fed by a ton of ammunition) and a massive LB-20X autocannon in the right arm (fed by three tons of ammunition).  Thirteen DHS elminates all but movement heat even when the Streaks lock onto target.  At the insistance of Clan Goliath Scorpion, the Vipers installed a four-ton Targeting Computer in the right torso as well.

Configuration C is the ultimate expression of the ancient Rifleman concept.  Intended for Air Defense of Viper Clusters, the Golden Lion C is armed with twin LB-5X Autocannons (right arm and left arm, fed by four tons of ammunition), twin Large Pulse Lasers (right arm and left arm), and two ER Medium Lasers (right torso and left torso).  Twelve double-strength heat sinks are enough to allow the Golden Lion C to fire the LPLs and LB-5Xs while running and remain heat neutral; at closer ranges, the Warrior may substitute both ER Mediums for a single Large Pulse for the same heat-load.

The Golden Lion D was created in an effort to gain Smoke Jaguar support.  This configuration is armed with an Ultra AC-20 (right arm, with four tons of ammunition), an Ultra AC-10 (left arm, with two tons of ammunition), four ER Medium Lasers (left arm, left torso, right torso, and center torso), and an ECM Suite (right torso).  Eleven DHS do not even BEGIN to deal with the massive levels of heat this war-machine can generate, but when properly used, a skilled Warrior can balance the heat load.

Configuration E once again adds jump jets . . . four again, with two each in the right and left torso.  Based on the SLDF Highlander, the Golden Lion E is armed with a Gauss Rifle (right arm with three tons of ammunition for 24 shots), an LRM-20 in the right torso with four tons of ammunition for 24 salvoes, a Streak SRM-6 in the left torso with a ton of ammunition, and two ER Medium Lasers in the left arm.  Just the base ten DHS are mounted, but the design only overheats on a jumping Alpha Strike when the Streak 6-pack locks on target.

And finally, there is Configuration F . . . another weapons and equipment layout that the Scorpions demanded.  Armament consists of three ER PPCs (right arm, left arm, and left torso), tied into a four ton Targeting Computer (right torso).  Twenty-two double-strength heat sinks allow for a 3-2-3 firing pattern with little effect on the operation of the Golden Lion F, which can constantly and consistently maintain a high volume of long-range firepower few other OmniMechs or BattleMechs can match.

At the upper levels of a weight category like we are at with the 75 tonner now I can see cheating to assault weight. Don't forget the Clans value speed highly and I am not just talking about Ice Hellion. I think with the Quicksilver Zombies we have produced quality war machines with acceptable Clan speeds.

The Inner Sphere has prove time and again that clan values do not always add up to victories, and what victories they have tend to be pyhrric at best.  The Clans should be able to learn from thier experiences, not be chained to tradition, especially since  this is a society that is built not on social tradition but on martial prowess.  1) Does this work?  2) if not what can we do to make it work? 3) if we can't make it work what can work better?

it is a sad state of affairs that the most effective clan culture of all was Wolf's Dragoons.  Professionalism, Integrity, Victory.  your perspective on the clans is to dig them a deeper hole.

No, the Wolves value speed as well. just look at the designs attributed to that Clan. Bears, as well, just so they can get their Elementals into position quicker (if for no other reason)

I think it goes beyond the Hellions, Wolves, and Bears. Clan machines at the time of the invasion push the design maximum in many cases most likely because of their highly refined technology. It is true that the Hellions take it to the extreme but when high speed is the norm what else is considered higher, oh yes extreme.  ;)

Overview:
To make their pitch for the 75 ton category, the Diamond Sharks drew heavily on
their team already working on the Mad Cat Mk II project. Unsurprisingly, their
design owes a great deal both to the under-development assault 'Mech as well as
Clan Wolf's infamously successful Timber Wolf.


Capabilities:
The Maverick is structured almost identically to the Timber Wolf with
ferrofibrous armour wrapped around an endo-steel structure. The engine at the
centre is the ubitquious 300 standard, produced throughout the Clans (and even
by the Inner Sphere). This leaves a full 34 tons space for weapons and other
equipment.

The primary configuration uses the same over-under arrangement of large and
medium lasers as the Timber Wolf or Mad Dog but adds enough heatsinks to make
this sustainable even with support from the LRM racks in the shoulders. Another
laser in the torso remains in reserve for once ammunition runs out.

The Maverick A owes more to the classic Marauder with an energy weapon in each
arm - in this case pulse lasers - and a ballistic weapon in one side-torso. In
addition to the Gauss Rifle, the A has a small SRM rack. Jump-capable, the
Maverick A can handle most terrain.

Perhaps paralleling the Timber Wolf A, the Maverick B pairs Extended Range PPCs
with Streak SRMs. The addition of a targeting computer allows the B to
concentrate PPC fire with ease.

The Maverick C is the missile platform with four artemis-enhanced LRM
launchers, each with two full tons of ammuntion. In the event the missiles run
out, the 'Mech can close in with five medium lasers.

Clearly inspired by the Mad Dog D, the Maverick sports a pair of Gauss Rifles.
Supporting this are four medium lasers, resulting in a heat-efficient long and
medium-range combatant.

Khan Phelan Kell, Despite his partial success with the Allard in the early stages of Quicksilver, still believed in his concept of a Quad Omnimech for Garrison clusters utilizing Turret Technology.  with the Help of his retinue of Rana Wolf and Evanatha Fetladreal, he isolated a few key points that would make the mech much more appealing to the council of Khans.  when he called it "better marketing" it was said that Rana and Evanatha cocked their heads to the side whilst Khan Natasha Kerensky laughed out loud.  when the IlKhan Decreed that Clan Wolf was already providing more then it's fair share of the manufacturing capabilities, Khan Kell gifted the design to Clan Coyote for presentation.  Despite the usual Lupine tendencies Clan Coyote is known for, this mech was named the Lioness as a reflection of it's nature as an omnimech meant for protecting facilities and vital assets.

The Lioness takes  many cues from both the Timber Wolf and the Gargoyle, but as it was a quad, needed an all new chassis.  the frame proposed is based on the Goliath model, but built lower to the ground and utilizing Endo-Steel.  The engine for the prototype itself was removed from a Star League vintage Atlas II that was deployed by Clan Jade Falcon during the battle of Tukkyid and so severely damaged it required a complete rebuild.  The torso armor plating for the Lioness was built to be very tough, but the legs suffered as a result of requiring a quad chassis.  while though enough to make any marauder pilot jealous, some clan critics may find it lacking.

The Primary Configuration of the Lioness ins constructed from the Gargoyle A Configuration that is most favored by Clan Wolf forces expected to face Primarily Battlemech opposition.  twin ERPPCs and a Large Pulse laser provide extended reach and devastating damage to opposition, and the turret allows a 360 degree firing arc.  when coupled with the Lioness going hull down behind cover, the mech can effectively become a standoff weapon that prohibits any counterfire.  to protect the mechs legs from infantry swarms, an A Pod was mounted in each limb.  submitted with this was plans for a more robust "Anti Elemental Pod" that could be applied in future configurations if the development is approved.

Alternate Configuration A should be very familiar to Warriors who piloted Timber Wolves.  the Turret houses an all energy array once again, ER Large over ER Medium lasers, whle the left torso houses two vertical launch LRM 15 racks borrowed from Mars Assault Tanks  A Pods again reinforce the legs against conventional infantry swarms, and a pod mounted supercharger allows a little extra burst of speed without risking leg actuator damage MASC is so famous for.

Alternate B is designed for heavy duty anti vehicle and anti aircraft work.  Twin 88mm dual purpose cannons dominate the right torso turret, providing a hazard to overhead aerospace fighters. ground armor and Elementals need to fear the weapons just as much when not pointed skyward.  for ground defense a quartet of ER Medium lasers are mounted in the legs, with rear legs having rear facing lasers, making flanking at best a tricky proposition.

Alternate configuration Ci is designed for close up warfare, preferably in a city.  a single large pulse laser is the only weapon for stand off engagements, while two medium pulse lasers and a staggering four SRM 6 packs provide close in firepower.  the lasers are supplemented with a targeting computer to make faster enemies tremble, while an ECM and active probe levels the electronic battlefield.

Finally Alternate D is designed to provide Defensive Artillery Support.  the Arrow IV Launcher is so bulky that the turret system is completely removed and four tons of missiles feed the system.  an anti Missile system covers each leg, neutering Battle Armor counter attacks as well as LRM bombardment by mechs like the Valkyrie or Hitman.  for "long range self defense" an ER PPC and ER Large laser are mounted in the torso and head, making the Lioness far from defenseless when guarding her den.

Overview:

Drawing on their earlier submission of the Iron Golem in the 60-ton category,
Steel Viper engineers thought that they would be able to do more with the same
basic design but with an extra 15 t0ns of mass to play with. Using the standard
weight saving materials, endo steel chassis and ferro-fibrous armor, the
engineers were able squeeze an extra 10 tons of pod space over the original
Iron Golem. The Iron Golem II's appearance has changed somewhat drastically and
is very reminiscent of the Awesome and is a big and bulky machine meant to
instill fear in the enemy through it's grim, utilitarian visage.

The engineers were limited in the number of powerplants they had a available to
build prototypes as they could only acquire four GM 300 engines from ancient
Marauders that were found in one of their scrapyards. Ten double heat sinks are
fitted to the engine to provide the base of amount of heat dissipation needed
for operations. Twelve tons of ferro-fibrous armor provide for excellent armor
coverage, nearly maximum that a 75-ton chassis can bear.

Configuration:

Five configurations came out of the design process to survive as theinital
loadouts for the Iron Golem II. The Prime configuration comes equipped the
Steel Viper's pride and joy, the U;tra-20 autocannon, This fed by an oversized
ammunition bay carrying four tons of ammunition. The other main weapon is the
ubiquitous ER PPC, used at long-range until the Ultra can be brought to bear. A
fifteem-tube LRM launcher provides additional long-range support, while a pair
of medium pulse laser and an ER small laser provide additonal close quarters
support. Two added heat sinks provide little support in the dissipation of the
waste that can be generated by this variant.

The second configuration is fitted with three fifteen-tube LRM-15 each fed by a
two-ton ammunition bin. The primary backup weapon is a LB 10-X autocannon with
thirty salvoes available to it. Tertiary support is provded by a pair of ER
medium laser and a lone ER small laser. Two heat sinks help get the heat fairly
manageable.

The third configuration is the killer in a hunter killer group featuring a pair
of ER PPCs matche with three medium pulse lasers. Missile support comes form a
six-tube SRM launcher and a ten-tube LRM launcher both fitted the Artemis IV
fire control system. Ammo supply is minimal due to the additon of eight double
heat sinks that a re still insufficient to kee the C configuration cool.
However, a smart Mechwarrior will be able to contro the heat through
disciplined bracket firing.

The fourth configuration features the all powerful Gauss Rifle matched with a
pair of ER sarge lasers. A long-range slugger, it can stay on the battlefield
by its range on the enemy. A six-tube Stream SRM launcher and a pair of small
pulse lasers provide the necessary close support. Five added heat sinks keep
this Mech very cool on the battlefield with a chance of overheating being
nearly impossible, exceptin an alpha strike by a desperate pilot.

The final configuration is variation where the Ultra auotcannon is swapped out
with a Class 20 LB-X autocannon and ER PPC is replaced by a large pulse laser.
The two medium pulse lasers are replaced by ER medium lasers, while the ER
small laser is replaced by an anti-missile system. This model is much more heat
efficient than the Prime due to the weapons changes and a total of three added
heat sinks.
