Ordinarily I would skip right to either a Vampire (Assailant) or Werewolf (Speedster) after doing so many Zombie designs in a row but I will save that for next time. For now I would like to call for another Zombie, this time massing 80 tons with an assault weight design minimum speed of 3/5. Rather than warn you about the Clan bias on Zombies yet again I want to double down with the coming of the Quads. Since our first Quicksilver Design Contest beginning on June 8th we have been creeping toward the day when the Clans would field a frontline Quad. Yes, it is heresy to some but it marks a logical step in the evolution of the Clans and the new Zombie trend.

Drakensis was the first to drop the Quad bomb with his Bone Lion (Hyena) by the Steel Vipers who have gone onto to issue other such entries after this Bronze medal winning initial performance. Design Contest 2 saw Drakensis try again with the Lionheart by Clan Ice Hellion and Abele introduces the Caracal by the Goliath Scorpions but neither placed in the top three. The third challenge saw what was perhaps the best quad competitor yet as JPArbiter put forward the innovative Allard by the Wolves. Not to be outdone masterarminas entered the Red Death by the Blood Spirit alliance but barely failed to medal.

Drakensis was back at it again in contest four with the Desert Jackal by the Cloud Cobras and was joined by Abele who put forth the Gila Monster by the Steel Vipers which eventually finished second. The fifth challenge saw our most advanced quad entries by Abele who forwarded the aptly named the Blur by the Ice Hellions and Drakensis with the Loupe Garou by the Wolves. While both insanely fast designs failed to qualify for the official review they got the ball rolling on Level 3 designing. There was only one quad entry for Quicksilver 6 which saw Abele enter the Dust Devil for the Goliath Scorpions and Cloud Cobras.

Once more it was Drakensis who put forward the mixed tech Dagger Claw from Clan Diamond Shark for the seventh contest. Three quads were put forward for Quicksilver 8 which saw Abele withdraw his Black Widow by the Cloud Cobras, masterarminas enter the Thunder Hound by the Cloud Cobras, and JPArbiter earn a bronze with the Snake Eater by Blood Spirit. Challenge number nine saw the start of a Hell’s Horses run with two quads; the Hellcat (Dragon Cat) and Thunder Cat (Abele). The Raging Bull was another Hell’s Horses quad by Abele which managed to medal in design contest ten while the Tomb Scarab by masterarminas managed to bronze for the Horses.

Both the Lioness (JPArbiter) by the Coyotes and the Monitor (Abele) by the Steel Vipers came very close to winning our last contest and managed to win bronze and silver respectively. Altogether there have been 20 quad designs spread over a dozen contests, I ran some numbers below.

Now that we are into the assault weight OmniMechs we could be looking at our best chance for a Clan front line Quad. There are several canon inspirations from the Goliath (80 tons), to the Iron Stallion (85 tons), and the Xanathos (100 tons). You have seen several existing Quicksilver storylines and there is still no OmniMech for the Goliath Scorpions. But hey with the Scorpion being a Quad and a Goliath being a Quad who knows maybe this is there spot? Also there is the Coyote’s loss of the Woodsman and Lupus which has reduced them to just a single spot, the Savage Coyote. However, is this what they wanted? Do they intend to dominate the assault category and become  the Lyrans of the Clans? I can not wait to find out!

Again I like to hear about Clan components already in use, like the engines, which have been included in the design to lower costs and speed development. Also remember that Zombies are looked down on by some Clanners. Many refuse to use them or at best will place them in second line service often placing these relics into reserve rather than use them. However these cheap, endurance based designs can be easily manufactured by poorer Clans.

While you are picking a designing Clan keep in mind that another major point in the submission process, the name. The name of your entry is a big deal as more then one designer has found out. Accepted naming conventions for the Quicksilver Program include two major criteria from this point forward. Star League Standard English is a must at this point in Clan history for your presentation. They take great pride in their language and will not pollute it with contractions or foreign ‘Mech names. Also do not name your design after a Clan. I personally dislike the whole totem Mech idea and for the united Quicksilver Program such pomp pomps will be bounced by the ilKhan.

The winning entry will be featured in my FedCom Forever universe which is outlined in my Clarion Call fanfic. Technical Readout 3054: Quicksilver Program is really shaping up thanks to your participation. It will feature all the contest winners, some other notables, and tell us what the Clans of this alternate universe are up to. With every contest we get closer and closer to a finished product.

I still prefer that entries are presented in some kind of design program as it makes things easier on me. Overview:
In looking for resources to rebuild the touman of Clan Diamond Shark, saKhan
Barbara Sennet granted almost unheard of powers to Merchant Factor Angus Labov.
The Quicksilver programmes importance for these purposes could hardly be
understated but even saKhan Sennet was surprised when the Merchant Factor
suggested updating a century-old design to become one of the Diamond Shark's
flagship designs.

Despite this, Labov made a compelling case. The Warhammer IIC had been fielded
at one time or another by every Clan and many still made regular use of it in
secondline formations. The Warhammer had dominated battlefields for over half a
millenium for a reason and the Clan's version was well-regarded as stalwart
design. Putting it back into production would be relatively simple and if some
components weren't immediately available, equipment from caches could be used
to fill the gaps.

As an example Labov had ordered one of the Diamond Sharks' Warhammer IICs
refitted with the Pitban engine from a cached Thug in place of the - currently
out of production - Type 10 Standard originally used. Not only did the 'Mech
function perfectly but it continued to do so when the elderly Mk XVII ER PPCs
were replaced with Type DDS 'Kingston' PPCs freshly acquired from Clan Cloud
Cobra. Even Khan Ian Hawker - essentially stripped of authority within the Clan
but still a warrior of deadly expertise - was forced to respect the design and
in rare accord both Diamond Shark Khans approved development of the Glaive.


Capabilities:
Since the Diamond Sharks were still building SFX-80 endosteel frames to repair
damaged Warhammers, the Glaive uses one as standard. The Type 10 standard
reactor still hasn't re-entered production so Glaives thus far use the Pitban
320 which can be found in any number of caches in Clan space. One of the test
'Mechs even uses a reactor salvaged from a captured DCMS Hatamoto-chi. Although
the reactor can usually be fitted with twelve heatsinks, the designers opted to
strip it back to ten in order to give

Armour was readily available as Forging ZM15 was, like the internal structure,
still in production for repairs. The designers resculpted the 'Mech's visage
into a new and distinctive shape - one that layers another half-ton of
protection across the front.

The Glaive has four weapon bays, large but not quite as large as some
Mechwarriors would like. They're more than ample for plenty of heatsinks and
most configurations use this.

The Glaive Prime and Glaive A are simple, mimicking the Warhammer IIC and its
most common variant. Clan Smoke Jaguar, who developed the latter variant, were
invited to observe tests of the Glaive A in a blatant marketing ploy - albeit
one well received as the Jaguars touman is in dire need of new 'Mechs.

The Glaive B moves over to imitate a predecessor to the Warhammer, the AFFS
Hammerhands. With jumpjets and an active probe, the B configuration is geared
for urban combat. Firepower comes with a pair of autocannon and four lasers.

Finally the Glaive moves over and copies from the Gargoyle A and B with the C
and D configurations. The Glaive C is pure energy with two PPCs in one arm and
a laser array in the other, likely to be favoured by the Goliath Scorpions and
other Clans who favour precision firepower. The Glaive D adopts the familiar
heavy autocannon and medium lasers, mixing pulse and extended range technology.
However, it uses LB-X rather than Ultra, to conserve ammunition over lengthy
battles.

Here's yet another quad for me, courtesy of the Goliath Scorpions. I know I'm stepping into MA's favorite Clan, but they need a design in the worst way. I've got a standard biped, too, but it's not much different from Drak's mechanically.

Overview:
Through the first twelve Trials the Clan had come close to having one of their
designs going into production, but had fallen short. With only five
opportunities left to get an OmniMech of their own into production of one of
the new OmniMechs, the Clan was becoming more desperate. It was Loremaster
Kyrie Ben-Shimon who discovered a number of ancient Goliath battlemechs in a
cache near the Temple of the Nine Muses. These dozen Goliaths would form the
basis of a new design to be submitted for the IlKhan's approval. Loremaster
Ben-Shimon had only three criteria for the new design parameters, it must have
maximum armor protection, it must be wll armed and it must be done in an
efficient manner, meaning cheaply.

When Master Scientist Leopold Kalashnikov received his orders from the
Loremaster, he knew the first thing he needed was to mount a smaller powerplant
than the original Goliath's and, thusly, settled on the 240 series engine. This
saved a total of eleven tons in mass. Another seven tons were save when making
the switch from the antiquated single heats to double heat sinks. With all of
this weight saving, Kalashnikov made a controversial decision by adding a MASC
system. While this took up weight and much needed internal space, it did help
the newly named Leviathan maintain the maximum speed of the Goliath, if only
for short bursts at a time. To meet another of the Loremaster's criteria, he
added two tons of armor with most of it going to the legs, which could resist
two hits from an ER PPC and still maintain integrity.

Even with all of these additions to the base chassis the Leviathan still had
thirty-five tons of available pod space. With this amount of space, Master
Scientist Kalashnikov and his team set to the task of arming the Leviathan with
the most powerful weapons available to the Clan.

As befitting the name of Prime, the first configuration was to be the best
armed of the four configurations to be submitted to IlKhan and his selection
committee. A brace of Gauss Rifles are the main weapons with each being fed by
three tons of ammunition. A sextet of ER lasers act as the secondary weapons
for the Gauss Rifles. There are four mediums mounted forwarward and two smalls
fitted to cover the rear arcs.

The Alpha features a trio of a highly accurate large pulse lasers which are
backed up by a pair of six-tube Streak SRM launchers. An ER medium laser and a
pair of small pulse lasers serve as additional support weapons. To handle the
high heat build up of the laser weaponry, an additonal six heat sinks have been
added.

The Beta also features a trio of lasers, but his time they are ER large lasers.
Instead of the missile launchers, a Class 10 LB-X auticannon acts as heavy
backup to the lasers. It comes with a three-ton ammo supply. An ER medium laser
and small pulse laser are the only other backup weapons. Due to the high heat
of the ER large lasers, an additional eight heat sinks had to be mounted.

The final configuration is the short range brawler of the Leviathan chassis.
The main weapon is a Class 20 LB-X autocannon fed by a four-ton ammunition bay.
As this is a shrot-ranged weapon, a long-range was needed to help get the
Leviathan get close enough to the enemy. The ER PPC was the weapon of choice
and had yet to grace any of the three previous configurations. A six-tube
Streak SRM launcher and trio of pulser laser back up these two powerful
weapons. Three added heat sinks help mitigate the heat burden of the Gamma's
weapons.

Two additional configurations based on the Beta were rejected for submission. The first
of the two due its reliance on a pair of large LRM missile launchers, a weapon that the
Goliath Scorpions find anathema to their way of fighting as the replacement for the Beta's
autocannon. Two rear-facing machineguns replace the ER medium laser and a small pulse
laser. Should any future user choose to rely on missiles as a primary weapon then this
configuration should meet their requirements.

The second unsubmitted configuration swapped the large lasers for a trio of ER PPCs
backed up by a Class 2 LB-X autocannon. A pair of small pulse laser are the remaining
back up weapons. Kalashnikov's main fear was that the additional nine heat sinks were
insufficient to keep the Leviathan in combat. It was removed due to this fear. Again,
should any future user wish to run the risk of too much this may be an acceptable alternative.

Here is the my submission for the 80 ton Zombie Omnimech.  The Shotgun....


Overview   

This mech was proposed by the same team that had submitted the Jaeger Arachnid.  This time their budget was further cut and was told to go through the Brian Cache of all the clan’s.  They were at least given access to the four participating clan’s remaining Brian Cache and utilized the warriors assigned to them to Trial for possession on access to other Clan’s Brian Caches.  The engineering team was still lead by Clan Diamond Shark, Blood Spirit, Goliath Scorpion and Snow Ravens. (The group started calling themselves the Four Failing Engineering team, since none of their have been choses.  If they win they can change it to the Four Fantastic Engineering Team)

   Since this was another Zombie mech and at a 80 ton range.  The mission of the mech was going to be used as a second line omnimech by the larger/first tier clan’s and as a front line omnimech by the second and third tier clans.  The name Shotgun for the mech was chosen to represent the durability and the long lasting use its namesake has had since the invention of the gunpowder.  The staff of the engineering team then went through some of the salvage that sent back to the home worlds from the invasion of the inner sphere.  They found several chassis of the venerable Awesome.  After a thorough investigation of the Chassis and a review of the computer records.  They were able to find ten chassis that could be repaired and updated.  Since the chassis were standard, the redesigning of it to an omnimech went easier than using Endo steel. 

   The standard fusion engine at first problematic since they could not justify the XL version of it on a Zombie class mech and only version available was for use in an Aerospace Fighter.   Luckily at the time they had arrived at a Hells Horses Brian Cache and the Warriors of the Engineering team trialed the defenders for the right to look at the inventory of the cache.  In Clan fashion it was a short and quick.  The warriors of the engineer team defeated the defending Hells Horses in a game of Baseball.  It was decided that if access is what they want then a simple sports game will do and not waste anymore Clan resources.  But if the engineering team wanted anything from the Brian Cache then another sports match will be for it. 
   
   Inside the Brian Cache it was mainly filled with the Star League era vehicles and parts.  Going over the inventory they found the stash of ancient Rhinos tanks and several spare Pitban 240 fusion engines.  This time the warriors of the joint engineer team decided to use the sport of Kick boxing, but using mechs.  The warriors on both sides agreed that the first team to have all their mechs disabled and laying on the ground wins.  In this physical combat of Mechs, it showed that the piloting skills of the engineering team was far superior to the defending Hells Horses warriors. 

   Once it was complete the rest of the parts came from present Clan inventories, The Armor was Ferro fibrous and it was traded from Clan Hells Horses.  The Jump Jets were taken from the Executioners omnimechs that was awaiting repairs on Strana Mechty.  The communication, Targeting and Tracking systems were also off the shelf from omnimechs awaiting repairs in Strana Mechty.

Capabilities

   The Shotgun has a cruising speed of 39 kph and a max speed of 60 kph.  The Jump Jets gives this mech a 90 meter range to increase its mobility. It carries 12.5 tons of Ferro Fibrous armor that provides 97% coverage.  This provides the omnimech a 39 ton pod/space.   The prime version was designed for long to medium range engagement.  Two LRM 20’s with Artemis IV and four tons of ammo. Each LRM 20 is mounted on each arms.  Then a pair of ER PPC was added, one on each right and left torso.  For secondary weapons three ER Med laser were mounted on the Right, center, left torsos.  Four additional double heatsinks were added to help deal with the excess heat generated.  The warriors have to be careful when firing weapons the mech’s weapons and using the jump jets.

   The Type A is to be used for medium to short range engagements. On each arm, a LB-10X with three tons of ammo. The ammo can be mixed from solid or cluster rounds. An ER Lg Laser on the right torso is used for long range attacks.  A Lg pulse laser is placed on the left torso and ER med laser on the right is for the medium to short range use.  This mech has 12 double heatsinks to help it manage its heat during combat.

   The type B is designed as a long range fire fight and as a direct fire support.  On each arm, a Guasse Rifle is placed and three tons of ammo is supplied to each weapon.  On the Rt/Lt torso an ER Lg Laser is installed.  For close in anti-infantry work, a flamer is attached to each arm.

   The type C was conceived as a general purpose brawler mech.  For Long range combat.  On the Rt Arm, an ER PPC was mounted.  Then on the RT Torso an LRM 15 with an Artemis IV with four tons of ammo.  At medium range an Lg Pulse Laser on the left torso is mounted and an AMS is on the center torso.  For Close in combat a LB-20X is mounted on the left arm with four tons of ammo.  This model mounts eleven double heatsinks to help it deal with the heat.

   The Type D is designed for use in difficult terrain and city environments and for use in hunting lighter mechs, armor, battle armor and infantry.  Also to be minimally dependent on ammo.  On each arm, an ER Lg laser, a Med Pulse Laser, a flamer and a Heavy MG with a ton of ammo for each is mounted.  An ECM (Lt torso) to help it avoid being detected and an Active probe (rt torso) to help it detect hidden units. On the RT and Lt torso a Med Pulse laser and a Streak SRM 6 with two tons of ammo.  On the center torso a fifth Med Pulse laser is mounted.  This model mounts 15 double heatsinks to help it manage the heat generated.

   The Type Ex was created to be a highly mobile AA mech. MASC was installed to help it with a burst of speed to get to a location where it needs to be.  One LB-5X with three tons of ammo and an ER Lg Laser is mounted on each arms.  It copies the layout of the ancient rifleman.  An AMS is mounted on the center torso to fight any incoming missiles.  Three ER Small lasers are mounted (2 Rt and 1 Lt) for close in defense.  A Targeting computer was added, since the Goliath Scorpions have a fondness for the system.

   The Type Ex 1 kept the additions of the MASC, AMS and Targeting Computer and this was designed as another general purpose brawler.  It mounts a Gauss Rifle on the RA with four tons of ammo.  On the LA an Lg Pulse laser is mounted.  A single SRM 6 with two tons of ammo and three ER Med lasers are mounted on the torso.

   The final model the Type F was designed for artillery fire support is needed.  A single Arrow IV was mounted on the Rt Arm/torso with six tons of ammo for use.  A single Gauss Rifle with four tons of ammo on the left arm and five ER Med lasers are spread throughout the torso area for close in work.

Deployment

   Once all the chassis were completed and the testing and diagnostics were done, There was ten mechs available.  A Star’s worth of Mech was submitted to the IlKhan Kerensky’s Operation Quicksilver for evaluation.  The remaining Star of mechs, each participating clan was given a mech to test just like before and the fifth remaining mech was gifted to Clan Hells Horses to test since the Fusion engines came from their cache.

 It was decided that the mech if chosen will be produced by the Blood Spirits and Goliath Scorpions. While the Snow Raven will help it transport the resources and  finished mechs to the units that would use it for a price of being able to transport it all the way to the inner sphere on their ships.  The Diamond Sharks will be collecting a percentage of cost for each new mech sold.
(On a side note, there is an agreement between the engineering team the the Hells Horses unit that defended the Brian Cache, that if the mech is selected or not.  The engineering team will provide a Star’s worth of Shotgun Type Ex series Omni mech for that Hells Horses unit to use.)

Overview:
 The Blood Spirit and Fire Mandrill design staff came up with two theories of
clan combat and how to design a mech that supported one of the two methods. The
first was the mobile combat that most clans used even the Ghost Bears known for
the heavy mechs preferred mobile and quick mechs and there for usually
outfitted thier machines with large engines allowing calvary tactic's.


 The second style was old school slow moving warfare largly forgotten by the
clans in general because it just isn't used in there combat style but in the
Inner Sphere it is used very much and was one of the reason for a number of
defeats by clan forces not a custom to this warfare style. The need for the
mech to stay effective even as it takes massive damage isn't known by many clan
onmi mechs due largly to the use of large XL engines.


 With this in mind the design team though split on what type of engine at first
some wanting a faster mech outfitted the 320 engine and a MASC system figuring
many clans would welcome the faster mech with a decent amount of pod space. The
others wanted a slower mech that could be the ancher of a star thats slowing
moving forward or becoming a shield to withstand that onslaught of enemy
attacks well giving heavy fire in return.


 With the two idea's formed the team once more split into two sides with those
wanting a faster assault mech building a proto type and calling it Fire Storm
for the speed it has arriving onto the battlefield with around thirrty tons of
pod space.


  The other team settled first on a 240 standard engine supplied by Clan Hell
Horses Merchants from excess production of the Glass Spider mech. The standard
armor came from Kindraa Mick-Kreese factorys well the elctronics came blood
spirit stock piles. The frame choosen for the mech was the tried and true
Technicron Type G chassis of the awesome battlemech which was modifed to allow
the more advanced design parts to be added to it. The hardest part was getting
the endo steel frame to match the Type G. Once this was done the team named
there machine the Blood Mantlet for the mech was to be a large heavy shield for
other mechs and troops of its star and of its clans.


 With both teams finished they readied both designs to be shown to thier Khans.
The khans where surprized by the effictivness of both designs but only having
resources for one the two khans choose two blood named warriors to pilot both
machines and engage in combat to see who would win and be choosen as the mech
for the quicksilver trails from thier respected clan's.


Capabilities:
 The Blood Mantlet is build tough with the max armor its endo steel frame can
handle. This left a unheard amount of pod space for a eighty ton mech of forty
three tons over half its wieght is in pod space. The design team challenged
themselfs to come up with a large number of weapon loadouts that would allow
warriors assigned to the machine to have a extremly huge number of choices or
to customize it to thier own wishes.


 Prime


 The prime a fire support loadout that well giving massive firepower requires
the pilot to watch his heat levels. The machine also mounts a TAG and a ECM to
enhance its abiltes if its four LRM 20's and two large lasers arn't enough.


 Alpha


 Is simple with three ac 10's and a ppc but again the pilot has to watch how he
fires.


 Beta


 Is a eighty ton version of the pillager with its twin GR backed by a large
laser and medium pulse and non pulse lasers. The addition of ninty meters of
jumping ability allows it to be fairly mobile.


 Gamma


 The Gamma keeps the jump jets but goes for more ammo independence with two
heavy hitting ppc' and a LB-X 10 autocannon tied to a targeting computer. The
added ECM, TAG and active probe allows it to act in heavy recon star's and with
increased heat sinks it is rather cool running well fighting.


 Delta


 The Delta loadout is ment for upclose and urban engagements with its jump jets
and carefull use of its weapon systems. The six SRM 6's backed by two large
lasers and a ER PPC as its main weapons allows the pilot to pick his poison to
use but he most be carefull of the machines heat levels. The machine carries
four small pulse lasers to help it deal with mass infantry formations found to
be common in the IS.


 Epsilon


  Epsilon brings the return of massive autocannons with two massive monsters
one a Ultra 20 and the other a LB-X 20 both with decent amounts of ammo binds.
Theses two weapons are backed three lasers one large and two mediums and the
ability to jump ninty meters.


The design team attempted to copy a number of weapon outfits to some common
mechs used by the SLDF.


AWESOME

 Improved with three clan PPC's and SSRM 4's in the place of the small laser
and tied all to the targeting computer and with the ability to jump ninty
meters.


Stalker


 A attempt to capture the essence of the feared 85ton monster.

Nice job Shadow Wraith and Lord Grayson.  So far each design brings something different to the table. Gonna be hard to pick a winner again.

Clan Blood Spirit needed a victory. Nearly two centuries of isolationism has worn down on many in the clans leadership, and though none were willing to directly speak out against either their leadership nor tradition in fear of damaging esprit de corps, the fact was that many command level officers in the Spirit Touman were weary and war ragged and feared for the long term future of their clan.

Star Captain Emmet Vargas was one such officer, who spent the majority of his career in a mildy upgraded AWS-8Q Awesome during his tenure in Sigma Provisional Galaxy.  Despite official word from the Khan that the Spirits were not to participate in the Quicksilver program, lest they be tainted by the process, Vargas felt the need to create a mech to give his clan a source of pride.  silently working with Kindra Sainze personell his cluster were exercising against, his AWS-8Q became the prototype for the Triumphant, an assault class Battlemech meant for defensive operations and siege warfare, two operations the Spirits would spend centuries perfecting.

The Triumphant is built around the awesome chassis well.  half a ton of armor and all the heat sinks were removed to maximize pod space, and provide 50% of the mechs mass to weapons and space.

Star Captain Vargas original Awesome replaced the cooling system with double heat sinks and used ER Large Lasers.  With the Triumphant upgrade he was able to restore the PPC Armament of the classic Awesome.  following reports of an Inner Sphere upgrade to the Awesome, he added identical secondary weapons to match the reported 9Q configuration.  an advanced targeting system was added in lieu of enough heat sinks to keep the design heat neutral for greater offensive capability.

Alternate Configuration A is built for city combat and defense.  a massive 120mm dual purpose cannon occupies the entirety of the right torso, while twin streak SRM 6 packs are mounted in the left in an over/under arraingment.  combined these weaposn can decimate vehicles and elementals, or cripple battlemechs.  for energy armament an ER Large, ER Small and Small pulse laser provide some endurance to the design.  if the four a pods are curious the Retractable blade, a weapon issued to battlemechs in SLDF CAAN and Pathfinder units, is down right strange.  while physical combat is anathema to the clans, the non combat utility of the blade possibly appeals to the spirits utilitarian nature.

The B Configuration is modeled after the Shogun C, but utilizes the Blood Spirits "Holy Trinity" of weaponry.  two LRM 15s and a single ER Large laser provide the bulk of the firepower.  once the range closes a quartet of SRM fours provide a hailstorm of firepower.  for counter electronics protection, particularly the Adders favored Warhawks, an ECM provides protection  from advanced targeting systems.

the C Configuration is based on the Blood Kite Battlemech, with plans to provide replacements and provide an incentive for more warriors to support the design.

Alternate Configuration D is based on the Star Leagues RFL-3N-2 Rifleman II, another Inner Sphere Mech of some prominence in Spirit Garrison clusters.  Large pulse lasers provide effective long range fire while Dual purpose 88mm Cannons can cover the skies or eliminate non battlemech ground forces.

Configuration E is a deep binned Arrow IV Platform designed to compete with the Naga.  while the Naga has great tactical speed, the Triumphant is still fast enough to get out of the way of counter battery fire.  to do so with significantly less strain on resources is all the more important.

The final configuration, Configuration F is based on a failed SLDF platform called the rising Star.  the LB-10X Autocannons are replaced with Ultra 20s to provide absolutely crippling damage, any remainin weapons are purely for defense.

Scientists Generals Addendum: IlKhan, several designs used similar podspace, and I would reccomend evaluating thier configurations in this particular wide open chassis as well, as many of them would enhance the utility of this chassis.

Another Awesome entry! ;D Sorry I could not resist that joke, very punny. ::) Seriously that is three designs in a row that focus on the Awesome as a basis and the Blood Spirits involved in everyone. I would like to ask all those designers, why? Just curious. Nothing bad. Inquiring minds need to know.

 ;D Clan Blood Spirit was chosen because for me they were a Clan that could have been Great! Only if their founders and follow on Khan's did not act like the "spoiled know it all little child that did not get their way and will therefore ignore everyone else" 
For this competition and your AU, I imagined them to be more on the reapproachment with other Clan's to help them improve their standing in the Grand Council and to be able to expand their mercantile activities with the help of the Diamond Sharks, help maintain their warships with assistance with Clan Snow Raven and increase their tactical flexibility training with Clan Goliath Scorpion.

Those are my reasons for using the same theme on my submissions.   ;D

For me when I thinking of 80ton mechs its usually a split between a Victor or a Awesome as the mech I'm going to pilot. On the clan part I'm Clan Blood Spirit when it comes to the clans and I think I done almost all the challenges as Blood Spirit might be wrong :) . And after finding the 240 engine on the glass spider battle mech and the mech reportly in production with a large number of clan's it went the Awesome for the win on a note the Awesome variant in the Omni is just mean :)

it is a case I believe of not having much choice.  you practically demand that all of these designs be based on Star Leauge relics rather then new and innovative frames and engines (see my previous entries).  Frankly you over penalize anyone who does not fit that paradigm and so I felt the Awesome was the only choice I had.

The Awesome is a Star Leauge design that was comparatively low cost, and is also one of the most enduring designs out there that would fit within your paradigm;  the Zeus premiered best case very late in the Amaris Coup and was a Lyran Exclusive, the Charger is over engined, and the Goliath was a flop with the SDLF.  the Thug and Victor would do better likewise int he Assailant Category.
