Ok, here is my second entry.. I took inspiration from another person's entry and still not enough time to work on the fluff  :'(  but here it is... The Shadow Crab!  The fluff states that the other three clan's will produce the mech for clan Smoke Jaguar.  Smoke Jaguar gets a percentage of the production.

SHADOW CRAB Omnimech 80 ton Zombie Category

OVERVIEW
With Operation Quicksilver hitting its stride in the R&D for standardizing the omnimechs in all the Clan’s various Toumans, and seeing the economic boom that followed it.  Khan Osis and the senior leadership of Clan Smoke Jaguar seeing the martial honor for the Clan whose mech gets selected and the economic benefit for the Clan(s) that were part of it.  The question was how Clan Smoke Jaguar can benefit from IlKhan Kerensky’s Operation Quicksilver.    The Khan looked over the data for production for Clan Smoke Jaguar and realized that they were at maximum capacity and there simply was no more room for production.  With the Khan, SaKhan and the Galaxy Commanders not sure on how to get more resources without a Trial of Possession.  Which would just negate any possible gain they may get and just cause them more problems with the other Clans.

So they then called in the senior leadership for the merchant and scientist castes to get their non-warrior assessment on how to increase the Clan’s resources to rebuild the touman.  Shocked by this order from the warrior castes.  The merchants and scientist were given an hour to discuss the other options.

The merchant’s and the scientist’s castes came back with an answer to the Khan’s question.  They explained that with inter clan cooperation being in an all-time high, The Khan should allow more of an open trade with the other Clan’s.  The first being to invite other clan’s to help develop the chassis of the War Hawk for the 80 ton Zombie class.   Then the Clan will trade the manufacturing rights to another Clan in exchange for receiving a percentage of the production run of the mech from the Clan producing it.  These mechs can then be issued to the secondary Clan units or be traded to other clan’s for more resources.   Khan Osis and the rest of the senior leadership at first almost had the whole group punished for trying to turn the Clan Smoke Jaguar into the warrior merchants of Clan Diamond Shark.

Once the shock of the suggestion wore off, Khan Osis ordered the group to develop this new 80 ton zombie mech, and to not talk to other Clan castes members.   They were then assigned several solahma warriors that that has survived combat in the inner sphere and now too old and is only good to be assigned into a solahma unit.  These warrior were ordered to help develop this mech and if it wins the Operation Quicksilver.  They will be reassigned to a front line unit back to the innersphere to earn glory and a new omnimech.

Once the design was finalized and a binary of omnimechs were ready for outfitting.  Khan Osis then communicated with several different home Clans to see who would be willing to produce the design in exchange for providing a certain number of finished mechs to Clan Smoke Jaguar.  The Clan’s that answered was Clan Diamond Shark, Goliath Scorpion and Fire Mandrill.
The Khan’s of the other Clans negotiated that if this mech gets selected as the 80 ton Zombie category.  The Clan’s that will produce it will provide 40 percent of each finished omnimech production run to Clan Smoke Jaguar for the next 5 years.  They asked for the name of this new omnimech and Khan Osis told them…. Shadow Crab

CAPABILITIES
The reason Khan Osis chose the name Shadow Crab was because this mech is designed simply to be used by garrison forces.  Its foreseen role is to be able to hide or limit the ability of its enemies to target it and be armored enough to get within firing range to eliminate the enemy.  Most of the models have fixed AMS and ECM Suite.  The base chassis of the War Hawk was modified significantly enough so that it would be tough enough to use MASC and reduce its weight by  half a ton.  The armor is only half a ton less than the War hawk but provides 100 percent coverage.

During the development of this new mech, the biggest obstacle was how to get the standard 320 engine.  The merchant’s and technicians managed to solve the problem by stripping it from the combat salvage sent back to the homeworlds from the invasion corridor.  The Merchant negotiated with the Clan Jade Falcon Merchants for the 320 fusion engines from the salvaged mechs and the technicians salvaged the engines from the various tanks and ancient mechs that were kept in the remaining Jaguar Brian caches.   The technicians deemed that the 320 fusion engine is a simple enough engine to be produced cheaply in the homeworlds.

The engineers discussed with the Jaguar Solahma warriors the best way for this mech to survive combat in the inner sphere.  Installing the AMS is to help it at least initially avoid the LRM missile fire inner sphere forces are fond of using.  The ECM Suite is to help it avoid being targeted by innersphere Targeting and Tracking systems.  This leaves the Shadow Crab with room for 28 tons pod space.  The other most important development of this mech is that weapons mounted be to minimize the need for ammunition or make sure there is enough ammo for a prolonged sustained engagement.  The external appearance of this mech was carefully sculpted to look like a War Hawk to further confuse its enemies.

The Prime version is for long range combat so each arm mounts an ER PPC and ER Med laser and an LRM 20 with Artemis IV is mounted on the left torso with 4 tons of ammo.  This model tends to run hot, even though it has 14 double heatsinks.

The Type A version is more of a medium to short range brawler.  It mounts a Guass Rifle on the LA with 3 tons of ammo for long range attack.  As it gets closer it has a Lg Pulse laser on the RA, and a med pulse lasers mounted in Rt, Ct, Lt torso for a total of 3 for close in combat. This model packs 11 heatsinks to help it handle the heat generated by the lasers.

Type B mimics the Prime model.  This model has the same LRM 20 with Artemis IV.  It replaces the ER PPC’and med pulse lasers for 2 ER Lg Pulse lasers and 5 ER Med lasers.  This model only mounts 12 double strength heatsinks.  The warriors will have to carefully manage its weapons when in combat since its runs hot.

The Type C removes the ECM suite and replaces it with an active probe and targeting computer.  This mech was envisaged to be used as a close range combat, anti-infantry/battlearmor  in urban environments.  Each  arm mounts 2 ER med lasers with 2 SRM 6 with artemis IV, with a total six tons of ammo provided.  A ER Med laser on the Rt and Lt torso is mounted and an ER Lg laser in the center torso for long distance fire.  This model only mounts 10 double heatsinks, so the warrior has to be careful when firing its weapons.

The Type D is for Long range fire support.  Each arm mounts 1 LRM 15 with Artemis IV and a total of six tons of ammo is provided.  And on each arm 3 ER Med lasers are mounted and paired to a targeting computer.  The ECM is mounted in this model.  13 double strength heatsinks is mounted on this model.

The next two types, came about with the request from Clan Goliath Scorpion.  The warriors of the Clan wanted jump jets installed and a targeting computer.  The only major weapon difference between the two is one mounts a Gauss Rifle and the other an LB-20X.
The E1 model mounts the LB-20X on the RA with four tons of ammo and on the left arm mounts a single ER Lg Laser.  The E2 mounts the Guass Rifle on the RA and gives it 4 tons of ammo.  The ER Lg laser is placed on the Ct torso and the AMS was mounted on the Lt Arm.  Thirteen double strength Heatsinks are mounted to keep this mech running cool during jumping and firing of its weapons.

Type F pays homage to the ancient Awesome mech.  This model mounts three ER PPC (RA,LA an Rt Torso)  paired with a targeting computer.  This model mounts 20 double strength heatsinks to help it manage the heat.

Type G is another variant that pays homage to the Rifleman.  Each arm mounts an ER Lg Laser, ER Med Laser and a LB-2X with with a total of six tons ammo provided.  Only 10 double strength heatsinks are mounted.

Type H is designed for long distance fights.  This model packs 17 double strength heatsinks.  On each arm, an ER Lg laser and SRM 6 with a total of two tons is provided.  On the Rt and Lt Torso an additional ER Lg Laser is mounted. The SRM’s are to be use to exploit any damage it caused with its lasers or if its equipped with inferno rounds to cause havoc by setting its targets on fire when it gets to close range. The heat generated by the weapons is extreme enough that the warriors using this model have to be careful in their heat management.

The final model, Type X originally mounted experimental inners sphere style weapons.  But the Solahma warriors convinced them that an all energy design is needed.  This model packs 18 double strength heatsinks and each arm mouns an ER Lg Laser and an ER PPC.

DEPLOYMENT

Once Khan Osis got the agreement from the other Clan’s on the trade and production agreement, he provided each one with a working prototype for their own evaluation.  The remaining two and two of the Solahma warriors were assigned to a Cluster being sent to the innersphere for combat.  There the Khan wants actual combat with the inner sphere surats to see if this mech is worth while for the Jaguars to use.  Or to just be traded away for other resources. The remaining five was sent to the IlKhan Kerensky’s Operation Quicksilver on Stana Mechty for evaluation.

If its selected for the 80 ton zombie category, Clan Smoke Jaguar gets a new omnimech being produced by the other Clans and not have to lose any resources to retooling a factory or to trial of possesion.  For Clan Diamond Shark, Goliath Scorpion and Fire Mandrill they get the production rights to the mech for five years and they only have to retool some of their facilities to produce this mech.  They save resources and money on the R&D.  If the mech is not selected then they don’t have to pay anything to Clan Smoke Jaguar.

Not a bad design but I am not accepting any Smoke Jaguar,  Wolf, Jade Falcon,  or Burrock designs.  They have maxed out their production.

Two solutions.  Radically change the fluff for another Clan or have the Jags coordinate their design with another Clan. This ally could manufacture the Omni on their behalf.

The Warhammer IIC is a well respected machine for its balance of firepower, armour and speed with the main reason it isn't used more extensively by all the clans being the general stigma of it not being an Omni-mech. Clan Diamond Shark scientists planned to change that by basing a new Omnimech on the Warhammer IIC chassis to give the clans a 'Mech the Trueborn warriors would gladly use while cutting down the time and costs of developing a machine from scratch.

The Avalanche as it came to be known uses the same Endo-Steel structure, 320 standard engine and twelve tons of Ferro-Fibrous armour as the standard Battlemech it is based upon, and the scientists even planned on retrofitting existing IIC's with the couplings and pods needed for the avalanche, though whether that is viable or merely a pipe dream is not clear at this time. Only the twelve heat sinks that fit in the engine are fixed to the chassis, giving it Thirty two and a half tons of space for its configurations.

The Prime variant is a very close copy of the standard Warhammer IIC, with a ER PPC in each arm backed up by 4 ER Medium Lasers split between the left and right torsos. Two SRM 6 racks in the right torso give it a final short range punch to finish any foe who gets that close, whilst the flamer in the centre torso dissuades any infantry from getting two close. Finally an ECM and Active Probe were fitted to avoid the ambushes and other Dezgra tactics that were often attempted during Operation Revival. Ten additional heat sinks were fitted, but even these are not enough to handle this mechs heat output, forcing its pilot to watch his fire carefully.

The Alpha configuration is designed for combat in close terrain, with no weapon that reaches beyond 450 metres. It does however mount jump jets giving it a 120 metre jump range allowing it to close quickly. Once it does close its Class 20 Ultra Autocannon enables it to obliterate any mech in just a few salvoes while its four tons of ammunition keep it in the fight beyond the first minute. Four ER Medium lasers split between the arms and two Medium Pulse in the right torso can finish a foe not defeated by the Ultra alone. The ER Small laser in the head is largely to deal with battle armour, but is of limited utility. Four extra heat sinks are added to this configuration, but again this is not enough for a full alpha strike so care must be taken.

If the Alpha variant is a sledgehammer to batter its foes to death, then the Bravo is a scalpel, cutting its opponent down with speed and almost unmatched precision. Four Large Pulse Lasers split between the arms are the bulk of the mechs firepower, giving it incredible long range accuracy and damage without overtaxing the 18 heat sinks too far. Two ER Medium lasers in the centre torso – one of the rear mounted – give the machine something to fight back with should it lose both arms, while the head mounted flamer allow it to deal with any infantry that trouble it.

The Charlie configuration is another long range variant, only this one uses two arm mounted Gauss rifles fed by four tons of ammunition to blast holes in its foes, before closing to finish them with its four ER Medium lasers and ER Small. No addition heat sinks were added to this configuration, as they were deemed unnecessary.

Most clans would believe that the Bravo variant was the one designed to deal with airborne targets, but apparently the Diamond Shark design team thought otherwise with the Delta variant mounting FOUR LB 2-X Autocannons -one each in the arms and side torsos- supported by two ER Large lasers and 4 Machine guns to deal with infantry. The LBX AC's stopping power is anemic, but it is impossible to match the range of these weapons with anything less the artillery allowing the pilot to engage almost any foe he can see, though it may take some time for him to defeat it. An ECM suite was fitted to help keep it hidden from prying eyes.

And finally the Echo configuration, Again mounting twin ER Large lasers -this time in the left arm- as supporting weapons for the trio of LRM 15 racks fitted with Artemis IV and fed by 6 tons of ammunition. Two ER Mediums give additional backup guns should it expend its ammunition before defeating its opponents. The three extra heat sinks do not come close to handling the load of a full alpha strike.

A Joke Entry  8)

Rusher

"Design an Omni-mech that is worthy of Free-Births"  Khan Zalmen commanded his True-Born Scientists. "One that embodies their place in Clans of Kerensky.

With much nodding and agreement the True-born Scientists quickly set out to review old Star League designs for just the right Battlemech to cull ideas from.  Ideas for an almost absolutely useless unit for Free-births to show their worth on the Battlefield.

The Steel Viper design team stumbled across the Charger and from there the Rusher was born.

Putting aside qualms that some Ice Hellions would actually think the Rusher was a good idea (what can one expect from Hellions), the Scientists quickly sprung to work.

Built around the massive Standard 400 Fusion engine the Rusher would charge ahead at speeds over 88 kmh at full speed, and over 50 kmh when walking.   To save some mass the Rusher was built around endo steel, which in turn left plenty of mass for the twelve and half tons of ferro-fibrous armor that clad this fast titan.

Sadly however this left only 4 tons of pod space to play with, an issue the Viper Scientists resolved as ideal.

The Primary Config spreads 8 ER small lasers over the Rusher, emulating its forefather design, and plenty of nasty bite against Infantry.

Alpha Config is actually more useful on the battlefield.   Equipped with an Active Probe, TAG and ECM the Rusher can find, spot, and enable accurate fire by proper Warriors.   A er medium laser is begrudgingly attached to the right arm.

Beta Config with its four jumpjets allows the Free-birth assigned to this Omni-mech the capability of dealing with difficult terrain.  No actual weapons are equipped in Beta Config, leaving Warriors to trust both the armor and their ability to flee from battle.

You're a sick man, fitz. Then again, It's how I expect the Vipers to treat freebirths, though I wouldn't expect them to spend this much.

Well the contest officially closed at midnight Eastern so the Rusher did not quite make it. But I did not make the midnight we are closed pronouncement so I guess I can let the Rusher in as our 13 entry!

That is it folks. We are all done on this challenge. No more entries please. Thank you. I will begin the review process tonight.

The Rushers very much a silly thought I'd share (much like the Charger itself)

True that. That's what the original Hunchback IIC was for. Twin Ultra-20s with no armor and very little ammo

Well for the thirteenth design challenge we had thirteen entries by eight different designers. You guys should really stand up and take a bow because your work keeps getting better and better. Not to mention it is getting harder and harder to pick a winner. I am still focusing on designs based on Clan ‘Mechs already in production for Quicksilver. I feel the development process will be expedited and new machines will find their way into production quicker. The Clans are still struggling to rebuild from Tukayyid and effects of the invasion on the whole so the faster new equipment arrives the better. Designs based on older out of production designs are right there on the second tier with excellent fluff putting some close to contention. Granted these are over generalizations but hey wanted drone on about my decision making process so you can get some insight. Review time!

13. Rusher (fitzgerald)
While a late [joke] entry I was really forced to think how the Clans would actually think of this Charger based entry which was very Steel Viper. Feeling their oats after winning a few Quicksilver Trails this shot across the bow at the ilKhan is highly plausible. The hidebound Vipers would of course insult freebirths with an OmniMech entry just like this. Using the Charger’s original 400 rated Fusion Engine gives this war machine unmatched 5/8 speed for a Zombie. In fact the only real improvements over the old Charger are the EndoSteel chassis and Ferro Fibrous armor. The 12.5 tons of ferro fibrous armor (240 factor) boost the Rusher’s protection incredibly. What makes it a last place finisher here today is the 4 tons of pod space which might be a record low for any entry thus far in Quicksilver. Again I wonder if this marks a change in Clan thinking to include more physical attacks against InnerSphere opponents. Would this design’s most effective tactic be charging at the enemy to engage them in tight physical combat? Punching, kicking, heck even death from above in Configuration B would all be deadly and terrifying assaults. It is not difficult for me to imagine desperate Freebirth or Solhama warriors pushing forward against withering fire almost unarmed much like Soviet troops in World War 2 who were not issued rifles. So while the Rusher is clearly the worst of this bunch it was certainly fun, thought provoking and perhaps inspired. You never know the Vipers or one of their future allies could get desperate enough to try something just like this one day. Great stuff fitzgerald!

12. Shadow Crab (Shadow Wraith)
Well with friends like the Smoke Jaguars who needs enemies? However interesting times produce interesting partnerships. I wish you had been a little more definitive in your pick for a partner. Of the three you named Diamond Shark despite their merchant leanings would not be anxious to work with the Jags and would likely try to sabotage said deal somehow. The Goliath Scorpions and Fire Mandrills are partners I could see the Jags striking a deal with. The Scorpions out of desperation and intimidation but they would not have been friends of the Jags. The Mandrills are perhaps the most plausible given their Crusader stance and there are always Kindraa looking for an advantage. The difficulty in establishing a relationship is a major obstacle and in the future it is important for others who would like to try this type of Quicksilver partnering just keep it to two Clans. A designer without the resources or industrial capacity and a potential manufacturer who can fulfill Quicksilver’s main production goals. Other Clans are welcomed in the story in other ways such as battling for rights or interested in future use but keep it to two main players please. The design is pretty good and I like the Warhawk basis and the 4/6 movement thanks to the 320 Fusion Engine. Adding an integral AMS and ECM to further protect this Zombie is pretty nice even though the Crab is left with 28 tons of pod space. The only thing design wise I did not like was the overage in protection as 13 tons of ferro fibrous (247 factor) leaves armor on the ground. Not to shabby after all my critique just needs some further clean up.

11. Fire Storm (LordGrayson)
Well I have been waiting for someone to use the Hellstorm name and drakensis came the closest so far with his winning Hellfury. I was hoping someone would tie the Hellstorm to the weather phenomenon of Circe which besides animals of Clan space would be another suitable theme for OmniMechs. The Fire Storm from the Blood Spirit and Fire Mandrill alliance is the fast mover of a submitted pair. With a 320 Fusion Engine (4/6 MP) from the Warhammer IIc and a MASC (8 MP) this is the fastest Zombie other than the Rusher in our little contest. It has 12.5 tons of ferro fibrous armor (240 factor) which gives us max protection for the chassis, a nice Zombie. Unfortunately the higher speed costs pod space, only 29 tons available for weapons and equipment. The basis on the Woodsman chassis which would have to be modified would cost extra time. Although parts from the Warhammer IIc ease my concerns here somewhat the up rated structure may take longer than other designs.

10. Horus (Abele)
With a name like the Horus I was really expecting this Cloud Cobra entry to be based on the Phoenix Hawk IIc. I was a little disappointed to find that this OmniMech was instead a Naga – just wanted to convey my expectations. Not a bad choice just different from what was to come and using the 320 Fusion Engine (4/6) from the Warhammer IIc is a good choice. The story of Star Captain Delindo Halstead, trails against Star Adder, and the hawk like appearance of this war machine are pluses. The near max 240 armor factor thanks to 12.5 tons of ferro fibrous is another Zombie positive and 32 tons of pod space is not too shabby. Still I was disappointed for some reason from my own expectations and perhaps that is why I placed this OmniMech here. In truth there are a lot of good designs that also edged the Horus out. Sorry bud!

9. Strike Hawk (drakensis)
This Goliath Scorpion entry based on the Naga OmniMech was a little confusing and a little too desperate. While built around the Naga this design - it is also an homage to the ancient Striker which was a little too much for me. I would have preferred if you picked one. I did like the story even if it wreaked of desperation from the necrosia drunk Scorpions. The old Pitban 320 Fusion Engine provides a nice 4/6 movement rate and combined with 12.5 tons of ferro fibrous armor (240 factor) is pretty solid. With 32 tons of pod space and with some pretty nice configurations (like the ballistic-energy weapons pairing) you got a pretty good design. So it was the fluff that seemed a little muddled to me that cost you here drak.

8. Blood Mantlet (LordGrayson)
This slow mover made by the Fire Mandrill-Blood Spirit alliance is a true Zombie which can take loads of damage while dishing out massive punishment. While the 15.5 tons of standard armor leaves a single point of armor on the ground the 247 max factor suits this mobile wall. With a challenge high 43 tons of pod space this Awesome based design is capable of inflicting tremendous damage. While it only goes 3/5 I real like the concept of the Mantlet which could shield other troops during an advance or be used as a crushing weight against enemy lines. Using the 240 Fusion Engines from the Glass Spider is on the surface a good idea but because of the Iron Spider might not be available. Plus it is a Burrock product and you know how much they love the Blood Spirits. So while I do like this design I have placed it eighth but be sure to read the final review.

7. Shotgun (Shadow Wraith)
I like the name but I am surprised you did not go for a Awesome synonym upon which it is based. This Diamond Shark, Blood Spirit, Goliath Scorpion and Snow Raven project reserves almost half its weight (39 tons) for pod space. The 12.5 tons of ferro fibrous armor (240 factor) provides excellent protection but what I like the most about this 80 tonner was its 3/5/3 movement profile. Thanks to some Pitban 240 Fusion Engines from the Rhino and integral jump jets this war machine can deliver its impressive arsenal across any terrain. All in all a pretty solid entry Shadow Wraith but in my opinion there were six better. I did find this design along with the other Awesome entries to be pretty inspiring so be sure to scan the final results.

6. Avalanche (Smegish)
One of our last entries reminded me a lot of our first. This Diamond Shark design based on the Warhammer IIc is virtual identical to the one drakensis submitted. While the manufacturer and base model is a mirror image there are subtle differences. The 12 tons of ferro fibrous armor (230 factor) is half a ton less than the Glaive but is a direct carry over from the original IIc. I like how the Smegish base model uses 12 integral double heat sinks which can be incorporated into the 320 Fusion Engine (4/6). The 32.5 tons of pod space along with some pretty fine configurations have earned sixth place. I wish you had something more in your background story. The fluff overview (first paragraph) is kind of thin while the capabilities section is strong. I just wanted more. I do love my Warhammer, favorite Mech bar none!

5. Thunder Hawk (fitzgerald)
Based on the Phoenix Hawk IIc I really liked the name of this Steel Viper submission. Not only as a natural competitor of the Jade Falcon but at least in part an homage to the old Star League BattleMech. Maybe it is just me but like the Galahad type name recycling here. Using the 320 Fusion Engine (4/6) from the Goliath Scorpions was a nice choice. I also liked the increase in armor production (12.5 tons of ferro fibrous for a 240 armor factor) in light of the speed reduction from the Phoenix Hawk IIc. The 32 tons of pod space is pretty good and the fluff is not too bad with a Viper-Scorpion relationship highlighting things. I just like four other designs better, sorry fitz!

4. Blood Tiger (masterarminas)
Our lone entry based on the Star League Defense Force’s venerable Thug is another Diamond Shark project with help from the Blood Spirits. My concerns about using the old Thug are alleviated thanks to existing parts in production like the 320 Fusion Engine (4/6) from the Warhammer IIc. The near max 240 armor factor thanks to 12.5 tons of ferro fibrous provides excellent protection for the Tiger. This along with 32 tons of pod space including some nice configurations (like the Clan Royal Thug redo) make for an excellent design. The fluff was superb and I liked the evolution of the design from the Tiger Shark to the Blood Tiger thanks to Spirit involvement. Plus I loved the marketing campaign which included efforts to sell Tigers to Burrock, Cloud Cobra, Fire Mandrill and Goliath Scorpion. Not sure how well the Burrocks would respond after the Blood Spirits got so involved but that is not much of drawback. I just liked three designs better, sorry MA you just missed out on the medals this time around.

3. Triumphant (JPArbiter)
JPArbiter put forward another Awesome entry with the best name and fluff of the bunch, at least in my opinion. I really liked the fluff tinged with Blood Spirit desperation and its mission purpose seemed right on. Its focus on defensive operations and siege warfare is spot on. With 40 tons of pod space (exactly half this war machine’s mass) and some pretty awesome (excuse the attempt at humor) configurations (love the Shogun, Blood Kite, Rifleman II, and a cheaper Naga version) you got a nasty OmniMech here. I was a little surprised you did not use EndoSteel structure or Ferro Fibrous armor but have to admit that doing so would expedite production and further reduce costs. With 14.5 tons of standard armor you get a 232 factor which is nearly full protection. While the 240 Fusion Engine only enables a very slow 3/5 movement rate it is adequate enough for a Clan Assault OmniMech to me. Great job JP, simple and effective heavy weapons platform that earns you a bronze medal here. Also the Awesome entries and the eventual winner convinced me to create an Awesome IIc. I hope to get your input on that design.

2. Leviathan (Abele)
This Goliath Scorpion design comes so damn close to become the first Quad to win a Quicksilver Trail. I like the name which is a good synonym for the Goliath and relates well to an OmniMech successor. Finding a cache of Goliaths near the Temple of the Nine Muses is a nice touch in the fluff which was well done. The smaller 240 Fusion Engine (3/5) makes a lot of sense because of the lesser internal space on Quads. This reduction enables the war machine to fore go EndoSteel structure and Ferro Fibrous. Still 16.5 tons of standard armor (263 factor) takes up a lot of mass. Not sure I like adding a MASC that occupies 3 tons which could have furthered the 35 tons of pod space with more weapons and equipment. Nice job Abele and good enough for silver this time around.

1. Glaive (drakensis)
This Diamond Shark entry which was the first submitted in this challenge set a high bar which was difficult to overcome. The name is a good transition to another medieval weapon and one that says Omni Warhammer IIc to me. The fluff included a nice business model, made plenty of economic sense for the Sharks, ER PPCs from the Cloud Cobras, and even marketing to the Smoke Jaguars. All well done! Stripping most of the heat sinks out of the original gives you an impressive 34 tons of pod space. The configurations which were based on the Warhammer IIc, and the Hammerhands are great. Copying the Gargoyle with so many configurations has got to ease logistics and again makes sense to me. Nicely done. The 320 Fusion Engine (4/6) can be gotten from a lot of different sources and 12.5 tons of ferro fibrous armor (240 factor) gives excellent protection. So congratulations to drakensis, the Diamond Sharks, and the Glaive for winning the thirteenth Quicksilver Trail.

Great job gang! Remember the Awesome IIc (JPArbiter, LordGrayson, & Shadow Wraith) gets the nod as the BattleMech inspired by this contest and will replace the Warhammer IIc which when refitted will enter front line service as the Glaive. Congratulations to the winners and thanks again to everyone who participated. Onto the next contest.
