Sorry for the lack of fluff, but I am completely slammed at work. Our GM was fired, then our AGM walked out without notice and we have no management on site for a week now. The inmates are currently running the asylum as the saying goes. I've worked 11 days in a row now and I am spent. I get one day off tomorrow and then back to the grind.

No worries Abele, i understand real life wins out over Battletech fluff. It happens to me too. Hopefully everything will reslove itself for you and Abele will be back to fluffing it up around here.

Well folks i just want you to know that I have reviewed this contest and it was another good one. We had 48 different entries from five designers squaring off against 6 established canon variants. Breaking every submission into separate concepts is my usual MO and it produced 17 individual champs which i ground down to just 10. The most significant factor for me here came down to superior range because of the Thors armor which isn't max. I really wanted a fast highly mobile design which could hunt down just about anything. As i am in Hawaii your gonna get this review peice meal when ever i get a chance so stay tuned for more here soon.

Thanks bud, I am!

First off to the fluff review which i love to do. While Abele understandably did not render any and drakensis was a bit thin there were three excellent write ups to choose from. Don't get me wrong drak sometimes not to much works with the right delvery but i didn't think that was the case here. Surprisingly enough to me finishing in third place fluff wise was Bradshaw with a very emotional touching tribute. I also really liked the mention of a possible upgraded design on the way and would recommend this step again. While i liked it there was a nitpick or two like the fact an InnerSphere bondsman was so in the Quicksilver Upgrade at all. Plus i wasn't sure if ur main character was a designer or a warrior. Still a bunch of good stuff and i know it came from the heart bud so hit was hard to pass. Ultimately i thought Ice Hellion and marauder648 both had the best fluff especially their overview so it came down to other sections such as deployment. By a very narrow margin marauder648 ecked it out over Ice for the first point here in this contest. So point to marauder648!

specifically said was the lead engineer for the old Thunderbolt production team on site prior to the Clan takeover. Its all good figured I'd use his name as a nod at the time. I didn't use deployment as I feel these designs are just coming off assembly lines so at most they are fighting in mock or very limited roles as trial runs. True these are just are configuration alterations but didn't go that way this time. Only mentioned him mainly for the ultimate thing at the end with the khan trying to use him as a counterpoint to the wolves use of IS warriors so boastfully.

Congrats for Fluff win Marauder

Congratulations Marauder648!

Takiro, I think we really need some more info on the different Clans to improve our fluff.

I am always lost regarding the Khans or the strength/location of the Touman... This is why my Battle History sections are always a bit generic.

Khans, troop strength, and recent alternate events. I am working on it Ice but don't be afraid to take chances. Might lead to epic failure but could be a colossal success for u to.

Now back to review 1st of 10 new configs, enjoy!

For the Primary Weapon Configuration of the Summoner I wanted to stay true to the weapon which makes the Thor, the Thor. I mean you need an ER PPC to bring the lightning, so all the entries I considered everything which featured a single ER PPC. That gave me seven contenders to choose from including two canon, Primary and M. While I like Nikolai Malthus shorter range version with Streak SRM-6 and ER Small better than the original canon variant marauder648 Prime combines them both to create the best possible LB 10-X combo. However, there were three other ER PPC combos to consider too including drak Prime's Ultra/AC 10 and smaller LRM-10 as well as Ice Hellion I which featured eight SRM-4s and an ER Large. Ultimately the ones I thought best entries removed the bulky ballistic weapon and replaced it with a Large Pulse Laser. You have the same approximate range, damage and a bonus to hit even though these versions generate more heat. Plus they are not as ammunition dependent which is the big complaint of the canon version.  While Ice Hellion Prime is good it's dual Streak SRM missile pack changes the overall range of the configuration downward and unlike marauder648 Prime (2nd place here) it fails to account for all the heat generated. Bradshaw Prime however, retains the LRM-15 adds an Artemis as well as another ton of ammo for 24 total salvos. Most impressively it accounts for almost all of its heat even when jumping (jumping alpha strike generates 35 heat) thanks to additional Double Heat Sinks (34 cooled). Don't worry everyone you'll see a few of these unsuccessful entries here later but now design point one goes to Bradshaw!
