Oh very good, a low tech King Crab. Not only that but you keep with the true 'Crab' spirit in an all energy load out. Nice stuff!

I did see the article Gio and would love to do a InnerSphere version along with a IIC. My favorite is the ComGuard Clanbuster seen on Tukayyid. Wonder if I can further optimize something for future conflicts against the Clans. As for a IIC variant part of me wants to see what twin Ultra AC/20s could do.

Hopefully I will get the time to find out.  ;)

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

King Crab IIC

KING CRAB IIC

Mass: 100 tons
Chassis: Hollis Mark II
Power Plant: Vlar 300
Cruising Speed: 32 kph
Maximum Speed: 54 kph
Jump Jets: None
   Jump Capacity: None
Armor: Compound Zeta Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
   2 Devastator Ultra Autocannon/20s
1 Type XX “Great Bow” LRM-20 Launcher with Artemis IV FCS
1 Series 7J Extended Range Large Laser
Manufacturer: Clan Field Refit
Primary Factory: N/A
Communications System: Dalban Commline
Targeting and Tracking System: Dalban HiRez-B

Overview:
During the Quicksilver Trials the Clans sought ways to improve their combat efficiency for front line and second line units. Mechwarrior Annabell of the Fifth Garrison Trinary (Nega Cluster of Epsilon Galaxy) used the opportunity to try to improve her vintage King Crab. On Tukayyid she had witnessed the impressive performance of ComStar’s ‘Clanbuster’ which helped gain them victory over the Clans. Convinced such a technological upgrade was relatively straight forward and feasible she began to campaign for one. Unfortunately, most Wolf Clan officers thought such a project was a wasteful use of resources. Unable to receive any official endorsements she embarked on an unusual series of Trials to win the necessary items to outfit her own BattleMech. Annabell was aided by her Tech, Brennen, who was able to retrofit her King Crab with Clan technology taken from Vehicles in many cases.

Capabilities:
Luckily the Clan refit of the Star League King Crab retained most of the ‘Mechs core equipment. Leaving the chassis, myomers, power plant, and electronics intact simplified the entire process. Stripping off the original Aldis X Ferro-Fibrous armor along with and its twin torso CASEs was step one. This plating would be replaced by sixteen tons of Compound Zeta Ferro-Fibrous complete with integral CASE protection taken from a Mars Assault Tank. With its armor maximized and its standard fusion engine the King Crab IIC became one of the toughest ‘Mechs to defeat. Heat Sinks were also augmented with sixteen Clan Double models which facilitated far better dissipation rates then it’s predecessors. The massive Deathgiver Autocannon/20s were swapped for two Devastator Ultra Autocannon/20s taken from the Hunchback IIC. Their ammunition stores increased by four tons allowing for better staying power even with their higher rate of fire. A Type XX “Great Bow” LRM-20 Launcher with Artemis IV FCS from a Hachiman was exchanged for the vintage Simpson-15 LRM Launcher while it’s ammo supply was increased by two tons as well. Finally, a Series 7J Extended Range Large Laser was substituted for the Star League era ExoStar Large Laser. This long reaching energy weapon placed in the center torso does not require ammunition and allows the King Crab IIC to remain a threat until it is utterly destroyed.

Deployment:
Faced with an immediate challenge to her new found isorla Mechwarrior Annabell made short work of her opponents in a successful Trial of Refusal. The Wolves were impressed by her tenacity and the quality of the new King Crab IIC which paid tribute to the Great Father’s design. Her newfound acclaim also earned Annabell a Trial of Position which she again passed thanks in part to her BattleMech. Rising to Star Captain and second in command of Nega Cluster her field refit has spread to other Clans in rapid fashion. While all seventeen have adopted the King Crab IIC it is those who have ‘Foresaken’ Vehicles in their Touman who have embraced the refit most quickly. Burrock, Smoke Jaguar, and certain Fire Mandrill Kindraa found repurposing weaponry and armor from scrapped Vehicles extremely productive.

Gauss Rifles or AC/10 should be the way to go  ;)

Gauss would be an easy enough change to my IIC and make it into a true long range fighter. Thought it would be too similar to the Clanbuster King Crab though.
