==Overview:==
In 3021 as part of a complex deal with Defiance Industries that involved export of several existing production lines to Canopian space, the Magistracy of Canopus obtained access to the schematics of the Sentinel, which Defiance had discontinued production of only seven years before. In desperate need for more Battlemechs, the MAF commissioned a new variant replacing unavailable components with those from designs they did have access to.
==Capabilities:==
The new Sentinel was redesigned in line with the existing SHD-2C that had debuted the previous year. Replacing the autocannon with a PPC was hardly unknown as a refit and freed enough tonnage to increase the size of the missile launcher.
Some analysts have compared the Sentinel to the well-regarded Panther: certainly it has a similar weapon payload but the new Sentinel remains less well armoured and lacks jumpjets, substituting it's excellent speed. The first shipments have gone to the Canopian Light Horse whose fast moving tactics have adjusted well to it.
