might want to call it something else, but other then that I like recon platforms with mostly lasers for the fact they can range farther then ones that are ammo critical. I would use these to build a trinary in my cluster if I could.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with an OmniMech which concentrates on energy weapons (ymmv). You might have noticed that each configuration uses different energy weapons. I'm not sure what battle armor you play with but energy weapons work just fine on canon Battle armor. Besides, the design only has 6.5 tons of pod space and there is value in being logistically independent. Although I came up with design before the canon one, you can call mine Shrike II or whatever if you want :)

I'll run that idea through a few different times and see what comes up. The main limitation will be the extremely limited pod space of 6.5 tons. If I use a Streak-6 with 1 ton of ammo, for example, I'll only have 2.5 tons left. There are a number of ammo weapons I could use but the trick is to also come up with an effective design.

Regarding Battle armor killers. I know my battle armor, and you want Missiles and Machine guns or AP Gauss to take them down. in the modern context you can expect to see reflective armor, making them twice as hard to kill for this mech.
the your shrike is almost ten years old? we got our first glimpse of the shrike around 2004 when Mechwarrior: Falcons Prey expansion hit the shelves.

For some reason, I kinda like the Config E with the LRM 15. The odd config out of the bunch is actually D with the Plasma Cannon and SRM. I'm not sure I see the utility of that setup for a Clan OmniMech. Now, if this was being sold by the Sea Foxes to the Inner Sphere...well then the Plasma makes sense if the SRMs were loaded with Inferno rounds. Much more diverse in my opinion. Nice work.

D could actually be used to hunt vehicles (3D6 damage against units that do not track heat? YES PLEASE!) and Battle armor, and the utility of a Plasma Weapon as both a bunker buster and firestarter is fantastic.
the revised configurations show what happens when you think of a battlemech as more then a sledgehammer you use to take down other battlemechs, something particularly important as your play experience evolves.
