Description
Although only a prototype at the outbreak of the Amaris Coup, the Sling still managed to make its way into the hands of the Star League Defense Forces in the fight to retake Terra - and in turn, several of the machines accompanied Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus, finding a place among the nascent forces of Clan Smoke Jaguar during Operation KLONDIKE.

Armament
Meant mostly as a high-speed fire support unit, the minimally-armored Sling was meant to remain out of the way of enemy fire, saturating the target area with its fifteen long-range missile tubes. The standard SLDF procedure was for Slings to only carry Thunder munitions, but pilots assigned to the machines frequently ignored this standard in order to carry at least a ton of standard munitions. The Sling also carried a TAG spotting laser, meaning the 'Mech could serve double duty as a harasser and an artillery spotter.

Variants
* SL-1H - Meant as a more traditional skirmish unit, the SL-1H replaced all three missile launchers with a pair of standard medium lasers and a single medium pulse laser, which allowed for an increase in both the number of heat sinks and the armor protection due to the tonnage freed up by the removed ammunition supplies. The 1H still kept the TAG laser, allowing it to still serve as an artillery spotter.

Related 'Mechs
* Mist Lynx - Clan Smoke Jaguar used the base chassis of the Sling as the starting point for the development of the Mist Lynx OmniMech.
* Duan Gung - The Capellan Confederation used the Sling as the basis for their new light fire support 'Mech.

Good stuff Ice, I remembered the bit about the Duan Gung. Is your description from Operation Klondike?? I'd still like to get Gabe's thought process.

It is a summary from Sarna of the fluff found in Operation Klondike.
And I don't see a difference between this 'Mech and the one appearing in Operation Klondike.

Sorry I did not get to finish adding to the information. Yes It is the mech from Operation Klondike and I will add all the info on it. The reason I put it up was I think this would be a good light mech along with the Royal Falcon FLC-4Nb for the Terran Republic Army. I enjoy using light forces because if you use them enough you can lull the enemy in a false sense of security. Then smack the the Hell out of them with mixed stars of medium and heavy mechs.

Not a problem I just wanted to see your idea behind it. Not sure if the Republic has that many Slings or produces them. Might be that the SLDF took the plans.

BTW I should have a light Mech up for your review soon then Gabe. ;)

No Problem I do remember that Mountain Wolf Battlemechs made the Mech and they still might have some mechs and the blueprints. The Republic could produce their own version.  I will put up one of my Clan Fennec Light Mechs up tomorrow. There is a weapon that it uses that is covered under my house rules. Just wanted to let you know before hand.

I do like the design and i'm sure the Archon will allow the design to be exported to the Terran Republic.

Also a question about the design, as the Duan Gung is based on it was it also built at the factory on Victoria?
