Notes:
Colonel Hansen designed the Mech, after watching a detachment of Lyran Hatchetmen, that were assigned to the RoughRiders during the Serven Campaign. The RoughRiders were quite impressed with the little Mechs urban combat ability. Massing only 45 tons the Hatchetman was too light and lightly armoured for general service with the RoughRiders. His original design called for a fast Assault Mech with a Hatchet , two SRM-6 racks, AC/20, four medium lasers, two small rear firing lasers. The new Triple Strength Myomers, being tested by NAIS, to enhance its hand to hand capability. He foresaw the design with enough armour to ensure it's survival during toe-to-toe combat, the Hansen's RoughRiders were famous for. RoughRider purchasing agents spent over six years trying to locate a Mechwork willing to produce the RoughRider Mech for them. Lt.Colonel Wolfgang Hansen was able to work out a deal with Thomas Calderon, Protector of the Taurian Concordat. The deal Lt.Colonel Hansen made was not for Mech, his father had designed, but basically a extensive refit on a old Star league-era Mech, the WarHammer. The large Star Corp 100 frame is manufactured at two MechWorks in the Taurian Concordat, at a steady pace. By refitting a existing and save millions. The first prototype RoughRider walked off the assemble line, less than one year later. The first few prototypes had heavily beefed up chariot type II arms, these suffered problems due to myomer incompatibility, and tented to freeze up during hot activities and was changed in later production runs. The standard Star Corp 100 torso is modified to carrier the smaller 280 Vlar fusion power plant, allowing the cockpit to be mounted lower in the center torso. The right torso baffle was removed for the correct placement of two internal Shannon six-shooter missile pods. Due to weight limitations the big Pontiac 100 autocannon could not be fitted, and had to be replaced with a Sunglow type 2 large laser. It kept the two rear firing Magna small lasers, that his father wanted. Rounding out the RoughRider's laser armament are two Diverse Optics type 18 medium laser, both in the left torso. To handle the heat generated by all this weaponry the Mech is equipped with sixteen heat sinks. Allowing the RoughRider Mech to fire all it's forward firing weapons, with only moderate heat buildup and effects. Star Corp 100 shoulder and upper arm actuators were finely mated to EarthWerk Archer heavy battle fists, giving the Mech a considerable punch. The RoughRiders Mech carries the massive four meter Hatchet in it's right manipulative hand. In emergencies, it can disengage the deadly hatchet in order to have both hands free. The cheaper more easily construed EarthWerk Archer lower leg and foot assembly is used over the more expensive Star Corp 100 models. The RoughRider Mech uses components from almost every factory in the Taurian Concordat. Missile pods from Illiushin, Engine and Chassie from Taurus, Hands and feet from New Vandenburg, lasers of Sterope, Armour from Pinard, Electrions from Brinton, and assembled at the Taurus Territorial Industries on Taurus. Serveral RoughRiders production runs were fitted with the defective Triple Strength Myomers, stolen from the Capellians. Colonel Wolfgang Hansen pilots such a Mech. The RoughRider Mech is mainly equipped with short range weapons, so it must rely on other Mechs for long range support. Allowing the Mech to close to point blank range and slug it out. The RoughRider Mech really shines in urban combat, just like it's predecessor the Hatchetman.

3055, the first upgraded RoughRiders appear, using major refit kits the Hansen's RoughRiders are able to upgrade two RoughRiders per year. The major change is the use of a Endo Steel chassie from Olivetti Weaponry factory. The placement of double heat sinks, allows the it to dissipate even more heat, making it possible to upgrade it's laser systems. The two older Martell medium lasers in the left torso are replaced with new Martell Pulse lasers, The older Sunglow type 2 laser system is removed in favor of a advanced TharHes ThunderBolt 12 large pulse laser. The Short range missile reloads are now protected by case.

Notes
The StrikeHammer, SHR-4c is another product of the meeting between Lt.Colonel Hansen and Thomas Calderon, Protector of the Taurian Concordat. The StrikeHammer is a unusual WarHammer variant that overcomes both major drawbacks of the origial design, the lack of hands and armour. The use of the compact shot barreled Magna Hellstar PPCs, instead of the WarHammers standard Donal PPCs, allowed their placement in both torsos along with the Martell Medium lasers. The WarHammer's SRM pod and ammo was discarded, allowing the designers to add four tons of Leviathon Plus armour. The Machine guns and ammo was replaced by two more Heat Sinks, bring the total to eleven additional heat sinks. Giving the Mech a grand total of 21 heat sinks, that allows the StrikeHammer to fire it's weapons on a prolonged basis without any fear of Overheating. The addition of EarthWerk Archer manipulative battle fists makes the StrikeHammer a very formidable hand to hand combatant. The StrikeHammer keeps the standard electronic package of the WarHammer with some of the first ones, fitted with duel shoulder mounted spotlights for night fighting. The Mech carriers nearly the maxium armour for the Star Corp 100 frame and is more than enough to withstand all but the heaviest fire.
Small Changes mark the upgrade of the StrikeHammer, replacing the standard Leviathon Plus armour for Ferro-Fibrous StarGuard armour, giving it the same protection at less weight. The older Magna Hellstar PPCs are swapped out for new extended range models. To handle the incress of heat generated by the newer ER PPCs the StrikeHammer had to be fitted with double heat sinks. 18 double heat sinks gives the Mech close to double the heat disapate rate of the older model at a weight savings of three tons. With this weight savings Techs were able to add pulse technology to the laser systems. As a after thought Techs re-added the Magna small lasers and machine guns and ammo that was dropped from the origial Mech.

Another product of the meeting between between Wolfgang Hansen and Thomas Calderon of the Taurian Concordat. The New Vandenburg factory produced several production runs of a special production runs of a special Archer variants, made to RoughRider specifications. The Hansen's RoughRiders needed a long range support Mech that could handle close assault mission equaly as well. To this end the RoughRider loosy patterned their Archers after the Kurita variant The ARC-2T drops the LRM-20 racks to LRM-15 racks and replaces the rear firing medium lasers, with six foward medium lasers, three in each torso. Equipped with 14 heat sinks the Taurian Archer can dissapate a lot of heat generated by the mass of lasers. With the long and short range firepower, this variant is one of the most formidable BattleMech in the InnerSphere.

Equipping the Taurian Archer with a GM exterlight fussion engine, has allowed, Techs to bring back the LRM-20 racks of the origial Archer and slaves them to Artemis fire control systems. It's short range capabilities has been incressed also, the ARC-2T now mounts four medium pluse lasers, two in each torso and reguler medium lasers in the center torso. Double heat sinks had to be added to handle the heat generated by the pulse lasers.

I would still prefer a Warhammer over a Rough Rider.
This retrofit is too costly and seems like a waste of a capable war machine.
