Storm Wolf - My first quad.
« on: August 04, 2017, 04:53:32 AM »

The Wolf Empire's continued divergence from Clan norms like the introduction of Stealth armour on a Totem Mech as well as continued research into Interface Cockpits also allowed the Clans Scientists to develop a new quadruped design.  Although it featured no new technology, the fact that it was a quad made it stand out.

A traditional heavy cavalry design, the new quad was a 75 ton machine capable of hitting 86kph although it could not jump.

Built on endo-steel bones to save weight the design features an XL engine and standard armour to save weight and space.  But fully armoured, the Mech was meant to be a hard nut to crack.

Due to the space constraints, the weapons load is limited but flexible.  A pair of large pulse lasers provide accurate and heavy fire at any ranges, whilst a LB-10X autocannon can engage Mechs or vehicles.  It was intended to put a HAG-20 on the design but this weapon would have to be imported and the LB-10 was available.  So in an effort to cut costs, the Scientists chose the readily available LB-10.
For close in defense and firepower a pair of SRM-6's, each mounted above the 'shoulder' of the forelegs and drawing from their own ammo bin can find holes the other weapons have punched in hostile machines, and thanks to the two tons of ammo, the pilot can vary his or her warloads.

Finally a micro-pulse laser provides some anti-infantry defence although it serves mainly as a deterrent rather than a sure-fire killer.

Sturdy, well armed and fast the Mech is currently undergoing trials.

Is it supposed to be 70 or 75 tons? Text says 75, but engine corresponds to a 70 tonner.

Also, if you can, find a way to put those SRMs in the side torsos. Ammo weapons in the legs are silly, IMO

Thats odd, i'll have another look at it.  And whilst the SRM's are in the legs they would be mounted atop the 'shoulders' in a box launcher.

What builder do you use marauder I meant to ask the other day when I saw one of your designs.  The easiest one going is Solaris Skunk Werks (SSW)

I'd replace one of the SRM-6s with a Streak SRM-6 single ton ammo and an ECM suite hides the ship and makes it more ammo efficient

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

I use SSW too, probably an older version of it too.  That and i'm still learning how to make it :)

When you export the design export it to text then you can edit it free hand if you wish and post it with tonnage values
