Sunwukong- the ultimate hand to hand combatant for Solaris VII
« on: October 31, 2013, 11:28:19 AM »

Some of my choices are as such.

1) I chose 55 tons so I could put AES in all four limbs enhancing punching accuracy and the ability to stay on it's feet
2) Impact Resistant armor was chosen because it can absorb the kind of damage it is meant to dish out and is still comparitavly strong against ranged attacks
3) a Heavy Duty Gyro also keeps this guy from being easily knocked down.
4) Harjel was really kind of a throwaway, as I had 6 tons and figured regenerating armor would be better served for this mech then a ranged weapon in the tight confines of solaris.

this Mech is built for a close combat master, Gunner Skill of 5, but a Piloting skill of no greater then 2 and would take as many Hand to Hand Combat special abilities as he can, from AToW

I like the concept of a purely melee 'Mech. There are a few points I'd like to address:

1. For Solaris VII combat, I prefer jump capable designs. And for something that can do only physical damage, that might be worthwhile.

2. I'm not sure if Harjel II can be used with most specialty armors. If that is the case then you have 6 tons to play around with. Also, I thought Harjel was Clan tech base but I don't know how Dark Ages keeps score :)

3. I prefer a compact gyro that is armored than just a heavy duty gyro.

Mixed Tech Designs are Tourney Legal in the 3145 era, and Harjel II and III are made by the Foxes who sell it to whoever has the Creds.

BUT it turns out you are right , Harjel II and III are not compatable with Impact armor. an oversight by SSW... if I wanted to Dragonball this a Snubbie for the Kamehameha would work if I wanted to Dragonball this thing.

I went without jumpjets, instead relying on land speed for normally compact and slow solaris fights, especially since this is meant to tackle opponents well above it's weight class, preferably in bouts that emphasize Melee Combat.
