Sorry this one took so log folks but between a snow storm and some serious work on Clan Burrock it had to wait. But without further delay here is the final version of the Gremlin, hope Abele likes it!

OVERVIEW
For much of their history the Burrock Clan had been consummate raiders and accomplished bandit hunters. Despite skill and determination their small Touman reflected the strain of near constant operations. While ground down by persistent offensives Burrock warriors were hardened combat veterans. However, newly elected Khan Michael Holliday was confronted with a growing lists of threats. Clan Blood Spirit, his most hated rival, was emerging from its isolationism and establishing new alliances. Dark Caste reprisals had killed his immediate predecessor and increasing hostility from Clan Snow Raven signaled some very real dangers to his Clan. Also the possibility of action in the InnerSphere rose after the Truce of Tukayyid effectively ended Operation Revival. Faced with these ominous prospects Khan Holliday commissioned several new designs to rapidly strengthen his Clan. This expansion was already underway when the ilKhan announced the Quicksilver Program. As the Fourth Trail approached Burrock Scientists looking to develop a cost effective light OmniMech came across the schematics for the HER-1Sb Hermes in an ancient data file. Believing that they had struck armament gold the engineering team quickly outlined a new modular design based on the Star League war machine. A number of concerns and minor mishaps prevented modification of existing equipment for front line service. Named the Gremlin in part for these unforeseen technical problems which could not be overcome it is unlike the Sparrow and many other ‘Mechs refurbished as part of Quicksilver. In spite of these issues the Gremlin defeated the Gila Monster submitted by Steel Viper during its combat trails to win a place among the Clans. 

CAPABILITIES
   The visage of the Gremlin has been changed from the Hermes and now has a more sinister demon-like appearance. The Albion Chassis Class 20 EndoSteel intentionally features hunched legs to give it a more aggressive look as well as multi-pronged horns on the head. These cosmetic changes are actually a combination of radio antennas and passive sensor receivers. Like the internal structure the Albion Telestar Communication System was derived from Hermes. In fact, the only system that could be salvaged and copied from the original model was the Alexis Photon Target Acquisition System. These reliable Star League era electronics were found to be compatible with modern Clan technology.
   Designers settled on a standard 210 Fusion Engine in order to save on costs and incorporate a more durable Power Plant. Initially salvaged GM 210 Fusion Engines from the SLDF Lightning Hovercraft and Omni 210 Fusion Engines salvaged from cached Firestarters were used to give the Gremlin a maximum speed of 118.8 kph. Thankfully Burrock and Smoke Jaguar merchants reached an accommodation which made possible the use of the LightForce 210. This Power Plant featured on the Horned Owl and new Coral Snake would ease manufacturing concerns and eliminate any supply shortages. To protect the pilot and machine five tons of Compound Alpha Ferro-Fibrous armor is spread liberally across the frame. This armor also found on the Nightcrawler provides ninety-one percent of maximum protection.
The Primary Weapons Configuration of the Gremlin is a heavy hitter equipped with a menacing Extended Range Particle Projection Cannon. While this main gun, usually mounted in the right arm, makes the placement of lower arm and hand actuators impossible the opposing limb features these augmentations along with a Medium Pulse Laser. Finally, a centrally mounted Extended Range Small Laser provides necessary backup when necessary.
Alternate Configuration A is the short-ranged special equipped with matching Medium Pulse Lasers, Small Pulse Lasers, and Extended Range Small Lasers in each arm. While this variant includes lower arm actuators in both limbs neither features hands. A Short Range Missile-2 system is centrally mounted to provide further close in fire support. The one ton of ammunition carried in the right torso usually varies depending on mission types.
For long range fire support Alternate Configuration B features four torso mounted Long Range Missile-5 systems armed with two tons of ammunition. Two Extended Range Medium Lasers placed in each arm along with lower arm and hand actuators provide the next layer of offense. An Extended Range Small Laser located in the center torso deals with any short range threats the Gremlin should encounter.
A highly mobile recon element Alternate Configuration C is equipped with an Active Probe and an ECM Suite to accomplish its mission. Seven torso mounted jump jets allow the war machine to clear almost any obstacle in its path. Its armament consists of six Extended Range Small Lasers that while tiny compared to other weapons pack quite a punch when used collectively. This excellent raider also includes lower arm and hand actuators to grab any objectives quickly during combat.
Alternate Configuration D is a trooper model requested by Khan Holliday which features an Extended Range Large Laser, an Extended Range Medium Laser and two Extended Range Small Lasers. For added short-ranged punch, a six-tube Short Range Missile launcher is also mounted. Here again each arm has both lower actuators and hands for any necessary operations.

DEPLOYMENT
   Rushed into production following its victory the Gremlin is entering service with Burrock units as fast as possible. As the creation of “OmniKits” for cached Hermes proved impossible the Clan has been forced to wait on newly manufactured machines. This has slowed deployment compared to other Quicksilver OmniMechs upgraded from existing models. Sufficient numbers have been built to outfit the 121st Rapier Cluster (Shockwaves) of Gamma Galaxy. With an OmniMech contingent composed exclusively of Nightcrawlers, Sparrow and Gremlins this Cluster has raided several enemy positions. These operations have gleaned important material for the Clan as well as a growing name for the Gremlin throughout the Homeworlds.
   Securing two Light OmniMechs during the Ouicksilver Trails also allowed Khan Holliday to expand his reapproachment initiatives. Approaching old enemies like Smoke Jaguar and Coyote early in his tenure had produced a growing détente. Using the Gremlin as an answer to the Jaguar’s need to bolster an Occupation Zone under constant attack he was able to quickly add them as a large patron. Early sales of these fierce looking war machines have rapidly proven their worth against InnerSphere opponents. While the Jaguars look forward to the Gremlin bulking up their Touman soon, the Coyotes have shown only a scientific curiosity thus far. Their few gifted samples have been slated for further study at labs on Tamaron at this point in time.
   Old Burrock friends like Star Adder and Steel Viper have been much more welcoming to the Gremlin than the Coyotes. The Adders recently reequipped an entire Cluster from Beta Galaxy with Gremlins, Sparrows, and Nightstalkers in much the same fashion as the Burrocks. Placing existing equipment into reserve for future operations has drawn some criticism from a few vocal Crusaders. They contend that Clan Star Adder is once again being too cautious when it comes to planning an invasion of the InnerSphere. Steel Viper immediately sent its first Gremlins to the FedCom front where they will serve alongside the Coral Snake which features the same fusion power plant. This overlapping equipment will ease logistical concerns while defeating InnerSphere opponents.
Attracted by the affordability of the design the Goliath Scorpions obtained the last few examples produced so far. Ties to the Star League Hermes and its battlefield toughness have quickly made it their thirty-ton favorite. Other Clans have not been so welcoming of the Gremlin citing “lingering technical issues” as well as “poor use of existing materials. Chief among these has been the Blood Spirits and Fire Mandrills whose hatred of the Burrocks may cloud their judgement. However, some Burrock “friends” like Jade Falcon and Ice Hellion have backed these assertions rejecting the Gremlin in favor of the Kit Fox and Arctic Cheetah respectively.
