The Quicksilver Programme. A message to the ilKhan.
« on: July 01, 2018, 03:56:42 AM »

To: ilKhan Vladimir Ward
From: Khan Elias Crichell

Subject – The Summoner and the Quicksilver Program.

My ilKhan, with the Summoner OmniMech due to undergo alterations under the Quicksilver programme I have been in talks with my Chief Scientist and his advisor and I am here to discuss a few salient points with you regarding the Mech.

Whilst I realise that your experience with the Summoner has mostly been in combat, we are very aware of the Mechs failing especially with the hindsight of the past few years, and we Falcons know the workings of our design very well indeed.

My Chief Scientist assures me that the cooling systems attached to the Mechs engine can be easily removed and tests and trials have shown that a competent team of Techs can safely detach the additional coolant systems on the reactor within 48 hours.  Unlike the Hellbringer, now the Hellbringer II we cannot adjust the Mech’s armour, this is due to the fixed nature of the Mech’s jump jets and the associated systems.  Any change to the armour would mean re-working the interior of the Mech as well as adjusting its centre of gravity.  Of course, this can be done, but it would require more work than you allow under the Quicksilver programme.

You know well my scepticism of the Quicksilver programme when you declared it, but one can not deny that it has produced great results and the Falcons under my leadership are happy to march in lockstep as we strive to rebuild our Tourman and sharpen our claws for when the Truce ends.  The wolves have ever been our rivals, sometimes we have disagreed with words, other times with OmniMechs.  But, we should not let the past taint the present for neither of us are Bears or Horses and enjoy holding a grudge. Indeed, in the name of brotherhood, I make this offer, not only to you as ilKhan but to our fellow brothers and sisters.

Allow us to alter the Mechs coolant systems and the design shall be shared freely with the Clans who would accept our gift.  By adjusting the coolant systems of the Summoner we can produce a more potent machine, one that is not burdened by the mistakes of the past and one that will lead us to victory in the years to come.

I eagerly await your response.

Unfortunately your leaping way too far ahead buddy not only with ilKhan Vlad Ward but with the Summoner upgrade. Another two 65 tonners remain before the 70 tonners which need to go through the upgrade process.

Secondly if given free reign to remove heat sinks i would also take off jump jets. In fact fixed jump jets on an omni get in the way of their inherent flexibility more so than fixed heat sinks which fit into larger engine space and save criticals.

Thirdly i already made a ruling in the ice ferret case and have to abide by the precedent for the Summoner as well. Both designs are in production and changes are not possible at this time.

Fourth there are future design programs scheduled following Quicksilver which will challenge existing designs and hopefully yeild replacements. I ask ur continued patience in this matter especially in light of what is coming next week.

If the Crossbow is one of the 65-tonner then please place it on the ash heap on which it truly belongs. The same can be said for Linebacker as well.

I want to comment more in depth tomorrow rather than giving a short answer here but please feel free to comment based on the discussion so far. The greater the input than the better the end product. ;)

Ok, there seems to be some confusion on story facts which is understandable. The enormous work of the Quicksilver Program is difficult for me to keep track of as there is so much material from all our challenges. I am still gathering a master thread for this and hopefully that will resolve a lot of questions.

The ilKhan - Here as in canon 3054 the ilKhan is Ulric Kerensky. Also it was Leo Showers who got kamikazed out of existence by Tyra Miraborg circa 3051.

Quicksilver Upgrades are the second phase our grand production program that effectively unites Clan industry to maximize manufacturing for the war effort against the InnerSphere.

In order to keep industry going designs which won a place among the Clans will not be modified. Later these designs can and will be challenged but not right now.

We have had a little variation with the Nova and Hellbringer which have been officially been discontinued but individual Clans have continued to use them.

It would be nice to see something similar to the Quicksilver program in the Inner Sphere. There is to an extent National Designs but would be nice to see it more prevalent.

I know the houses have their tendencies towards certain weapons. Would/do the Clans have something like that as well? I haven't seen anything like that in my readings. One would think it would be possible based upon who developed the Clan varieties of upgraded weapons.

I put together the attached quickly from Sarna as I was interested in this and did some quick research trying to figure out possible tendencies.

Also explain to me what the Star League did during their Golden Age it must have been all nonmilitary developments because everything came from the Terran Hegemony before them, which I didn't expect before researching. WarTech really took a dive during the Star League rule.

Clan Goliath Scorpion favours direct-fire weapons and the Seekers energy ones.

Tactical preferences for the Clans are listed in Operation Revival Trials (circa 3048) and each Clan invented or perfected different tech as seen in Golden Century online book.
