This is a combination between the Atlas and Longbow with 70 Missile tubes (that's as much as a Catapult and Archer combined!) The LRM-5 is the most efficient launcher available in terms of tubes/ton (not counting add-ons like ArtIV). It is less efficient in terms of heat, but only slightly and easily compensated for by the built-in HS in the EN (especially when DHS are used.) It is also the Achilles-heal of the AMS. Even with 2 systems you can only hope to swat down a small # of missiles and the rest rain-down on your head!

And here is my newest LvL1 version - with only 60tubes, so = to a LvL-2 Salamander with 20s! (just slower, cheaper and with a $#!& load more armor - or 2 Catapults  :o.)

In addition to the anti-AMS action this design could get, spreading the LRMs out into multiple smaller launchers also allows you to cover more targets, with can make this very effective at battlefield control with things like smoke or thunder missiles.

Which I've done before (only problem is you cant use Thunder-Aug) but when conducting IDF you get a lot more rolls to connect with something, Swarms are great with these, and you can load 1tn of MPWs and throw 1-2 per salvo to keep screwing with their TH#. Actually, I used one once (before the rules were change) and killed an opponents Assault mech with 1 salvo and did NO damage at all - 52 MPW for +52heat on the turn he fired all his MPLs at someone else - heat++ BOOM!

These are really good when used in conjunction with NARC or TAG units.
