Urbanmech II
« on: February 27, 2014, 12:39:25 AM »

The classic Star League Urbanmech was a success in the manner of providing a respectable amount of firepower in a compact and inexpensive package.  the old argument of "Volume of Fire" against "intensity of fire" often sprang up when discussing the Urbanmech.  The Federated suns, as part of their crash rearmament and mobilization program, developed the Urbanmech II as study in the "Volume of Fire" approach in defending its cities.

a quartet of Medium Pulse Lasers provide the bulk of the Urbanmech IIs firepower, limited range being offset by expected environment.  for long range engagements a pair of Light PPCs permit some modicum of defense.  a 20mm machine gun and SRM pack are added to provide anti infantry and anti battle armor capabilities.

Urbanmech IIs are being built as quickly as possible from the same Corean line that saw the revival of the Battleaxe.  Despite the urgency on the Combine Border, Urbanmech IIs have been moved to the Cappelan Border for the sake of propaganda.  Given that the Urbanmech has been subsumed by the Gun, this "giving the Cappies a taste of their own medicine." might be of questionable effect.

I personally prefer the original movie look for the ED-209.

Nice design but I can't help but wonder if the LPPC's weight should go into a bigger engine or a touch of electronics?

I needed reach, AND I wanted to keep the classic Urbanmech feel.

and I like the LOOK of the new ED-209's, even if the new robocop movie completely missed the point of what the ED-209 was supposed to represent.

A badly designed stair-climbing delivery drone?

World's most frightening pizza delivery person?

The greatest carnival "Ride the pony!" ride ever?

I think the design works. The reach was needed.

Thanks for the pic. I wanted to see it and make something of it.
