Targeting and Tracking System: O/P 1500 ARB

Overview:
Generous patronage of the rebuilding StarCorps Industries by the Federated Commonwealth led directly to the creation of the largest Warhammer model yet to be created. While other lostech concepts focused on optimizing its capabilities and costs which usually led to a reduction in size this was not the Steiner tradition. Nixing several proposals led frustrated company executives with the blessings of the Archon to ask for suggestions from Lyran Mechwarriors who naturally preferred a scaled up the Warhammer. Designers set to work on an assault class concept that they appropriately named the Maul in honor of the long-handled heavy hammer from medieval times. The first of these massive BattleMechs walked off the assembly lines in December 3053 and was quickly requested several AFFC commands.

Capabilities:
The Maul has been accurately described as a Warhammer on steroids because of its overall size and weaponry enhancements. The newly enhanced StarCorp 150 EndoSteel chassis is able to bare nearly thirty percent more mass than its forebearer. To power this massive ninety-ton war machine designers choose the Hermes 360 XL which was already in development at the time for another prototype BattleMech. This engine enabled the Maul to not only match the ground speed of the Warhammer and integrate fourteen Double Heat Sinks without external mounts. Even though two additional ‘freezers’ were placed outside this immense power plant to help cool its combat operations the design can still run hot. This is despite the use of a single Fusigon Longtooth ER PPC from the WHM-7M and a Donal Particle Projection Cannon from the WHM-6R. This unique old and new weaponry pairing was made to better balance waste heat generated by its massive arsenal which also includes Long Range Missiles. Two Holly LRM-15 Missile Racks linked to Artemis IV FCS are mounted in the side torsos of the Maul enabling further ranged support fire. Both arm mounted PPCs and the missile batteries maybe fired while walking but continuous fire must be carefully monitored in order to avoid overheating. For close in support the Warhammer’s original dual Martell Medium Lasers have been retained along with two Defiance D5S Small Pulse Lasers. These small lasers used primarily against infantry replace the Warhammer’s machine guns and eliminate the need for ammunition. The Maul also features an increase in armor plating not simply caused by its greater weight. Seventeen tons of Leviathan Plus with CASEs in the side torso provide excellent protection for this durable Assault ‘Mech.

Deployment:
Nicknamed the Arch-hammer for its Archer like LRM batteries and its Warhammer PPCs the new ‘Mech is being prioritized for service along the Clan front. Units from all over the Federated Commonwealth have requested production runs of the Maul even though the design is proudly Lyran in origin. To that end both Steiner StarCorps plants have begun to ramp up manufacturing of the Big Hammer to fill these orders which could one day include allied and mercenary commands. Depending on its performance other StarCorp factories outside the Commonwealth could also start production of this fearsome BattleMech. As a result, it is very possible that the Maul may quickly proliferate the militaries of the InnerSphere.

Variants:
While splitting the PPCs into old and new proved optimal there are Mechwarriors who would prefer one way or another. Younger technophiles insist on the Extended Range models especially for use against the Clans in spite of the enormous heat load. Older grognards like the older PPCs which can be fired continuously along with the LRMs while running without any worries about overheating. Concerns about the minimum ranges are addressed with the replacement of the Small Pulse Lasers with two additional Medium Lasers. Both variations are propositions at this point and will not become official until wider spread deployment is reached.

TOM-1HK TOMAHAWK

Mass: 50 tons
Chassis: StarCorps 75 EndoSteel
Power Plant: Magna 250 XL
Cruising Speed: 54 kph
Maximum Speed: 86 kph
Jump Jets: None
   Jump Capacity: None
Armor: Leviathan Plus with CASE
Armament:
2 Fusigon Longtooth ER PPCs
1 Holly Short-Range Missile Pack-6
1 Martell Medium Laser
1 Magna Small Laser
Manufacturer: StarCorps Industries
Primary Factory: Crofton, Menke, & Emris IV
Communications System: O/P 3000 COMSET
Targeting and Tracking System: O/P 1500 ARB

Overview:
As StarCorps Industries revitalized production operations around the InnerSphere the company decided to introduce a few new BattleMech concepts based on their most iconic product, the Warhammer. Miniaturizing their flagship BattleMech provided some tantalizing advantages which every Great House except Steiner was interested in exploring. While House Kurita went in a unique direction with their light Hanma the others were intrigued by a fast medium fighter the was made possible by the latest lostech advances. Generous funding was allocated to this project whose more compact frame could more easily generate higher speed for lower cost. Designers eventually proved that they would be able to keep most of the Warhammer’s armament allowing their new Tomahawk to compete even against the high-tech Clan invaders.

Capabilities:
Design work on the Tomahawk came together quickly as many pre-existing components from the Warhammer were used along with a new fifty-ton StarCorps 75 EndoSteel chassis to create this BattleMech. Common components from the WHM-6R included the Leviathan Plus armor plating, the O/P electronic systems, the trademark Holly SRM-6 launcher, both supporting lasers, along with the cockpit and gyroscope. The lack EndoSteel molds on Crofton, Emris IV, and Menke was the only impediment to mass production. Thankfully this obstacle was overcome by imports and investment which eventually enabled those facilities to be upgraded. The 250 Extra Light Engine came from a variety of sources depending on which Great House the StarCorps factory was located in. In Davion space the Magna 250 XL from the ENF-5D Enforcer was used while in Marik space this same engine was utilized from the TBT-7M Trebuchet while House Liao innovatively utilized the Rawlings 250 XL from their advanced Transit Aerospace Fighter in their Tomahawks effectively. These power plants allowed the design to move almost twenty kilometers per hour better then its predecessor while matching Clan OmniMech movement profiles like the Hellbringer. Both Fusigon Longtooth ER PPCs featured on this BattleMech were from the WHM-7M refit package. These main guns provided the Medium ‘Mech with impressive long-range firepower which thanks to sixteen Double Heat Sinks can rain sustained lightning strikes on targets while running at full speed. Mechwarriors are advised to be judicious while using the SRM-6, Medium Laser, and Small Laser while engaging in these maneuvers as overheating can easily occur. Nine tons of armor provides eighty five percent of maximum protection for this fifty-ton war machine which is distributed well. All in all Mechwarriors seem pleased with the Tomahawk even if their Technicians complain that there is little internal space to work on its interior.

Deployment:
The ‘Mech nicknamed the Halfhammer has begun to fill the rosters of InnerSphere units Rimward of Terra. Oriente forces including the prestigious Ducal Guard are now using the Tomahawk which may see combat soon in the Third Marik Civil War. McCarron’s Armored Cavalry have also been resupplied with this war machine to replace battle losses suffered during their liberation of Andurien. Meanwhile the Avalon Hussars and the Crucis Lancers have been issued this ‘Mech by House Davion for service along the Clan front. All militaries are anxiously awaiting after action reports of this promising new BattleMech.

Okay folks this one is a creation of fabulousorcboy and also has a dab of inspiration provided by Irose from the Shattered Dawn universe. I just fluffed it out cause I liked it so much and it fits. Hope you enjoy it!

MCB-3S MACCABEUS

Mass: 60 tons
Chassis: StarCorps 60 EndoSteel
Power Plant: Pitban 240
Cruising Speed: 43 kph
Maximum Speed: 65 kph
Jump Jets: None
   Jump Capacity: None
Armor: Leviathan Plus with CASE
Armament:
   2 Fusigon Longtooth ER PPCs
   1 Holly LRM-5
   2 Martell Medium Lasers
1 Sutel Precision Line Small Pulse Laser
   1 Magna Small Laser
Manufacturer: StarCorps Industries
   Primary Factory: Robinson
Communications System: O/P 3000 COMSET
Targeting and Tracking System: O/P 1500 ARB

Overview:
StarCorps expansion into the Draconis Combine didn't please everyone despite its clear anti-Clan aims. Duke Sandoval was outraged by the Hanma BattleMech Project and stepped-up efforts to expand Project Aegis in order to safeguard the Draconis March. In order to mollify his concerns corporate executives with the blessings of the Steiner-Davions began work on a new Warhammer design. While it focused on a simple lighter concept rather than a larger version like the ancient Kurnass (Heavy Hammer) the Duke was pleased with the new concept tied somewhat to the history of his region. The Kurnass had served the Draconis March with distinction during the hellish opening phases of the First Succession War even though the fall of Robinson tragically cut short its service life. In the tradition of that heavier precursor, he dubbed this new svelte model the Maccabeus and the design looks like a promising successor.

Capabilities:
The newly designed StarCorps 60 EndoSteel frame is a slightly downsized light weight version of the trademark Warhammer chassis. The lack of a proper EndoSteel foundry on Robinson caused some difficulty with early production of this advanced Mech skeleton and initial prototypes had to be imported slowing assembly to a crawl. Supplies of the Pitban 240 Fusion Engine used on the Rifleman and many other products was far more available. Using this venerable power plant the Maccabeus is able to match the speed of its forebearer at a far cheaper cost. Shared components from the Warhammer which included the the Martell Medium Lasers, the Magna Small Laser, the O/P electronic systems, and Leviathan Plus armor also eased production concerns. Better protected then the WHM-6R thanks to two additional tons of plating the sixty-ton BattleMech also is equipped with a CASE. This maximized durability has been paired with increased range thanks to the two Fusigon Longtooth Extended Range Particle Projection Cannons now paired with StarCorps manufactured Holly LRM-5 which replaced the original Holly SRM launcher. To dissipate the large amount of waste heat generated by these long-ranged weapons sixteen Double Heat Sinks have been included. While these bulky devices perform most of this work movement unfortunately causes slight overheating. Caution is therefore advised to Mechwarriors using the Maccabeus in heavy combat scenarios where occasionally an ER PPC must be occasionally unused so the cooling systems can catch up. This is especially true when the short-ranged laser support systems, which include a Sutel Precision Line Small Pulse that is produced locally in the March at Tancredi IV, are also utilized. These ‘freezers’ in combination with the EndoSteel chassis occupy much of the BattleMech’s interior making work for technicians cramped at best.

Deployment:
The first models of the Maccabeus went to the Robinson Rangers for battlefield testing and have been well received. Once StarCorps production facilities on Robinson are up and running at full capacity it is anticipated that the Mech’s deployment will spread to the Draconis March Militia. The Capellan March has expressed interest in obtaining this BattleMech for its forces on the Confederation border and are likely next to receive shipments after the DMMs. Intended for defense this Heavy Hammer can match the range of any would be intruder currently in service and could eventually serve in every area of Davion space as well as the entire Federated Commonwealth.
