Werewolf
« on: November 06, 2011, 11:14:36 AM »

I have ideas to make a whole set of Werewolf 'Mechs starting with the Primitive 001 and the following 002 and 003.

My only question is who would build them?
My first idea was the Rim Worlds Republic with the 002 being the lvl1 production and the 003 the updated one thanks to the Star League tech.

What do you think?

...Sounds fine to me.  Maybe justify its 001 version as an agro mech, then document its conversion to battlemech?

Who would name an agricultural 'mech "Werewolf"?

Maybe a modified one?

I'd put money on the Dragoons or Kell Hounds they did have the Wolfhound after all could be a sister design?

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Possible, but Ice said he wants the first one to be a Primitive...which suggests the design is supposed to be considerably older than either the Dragoons or Kell Hounds, especially since he's musing about making it an RWR design.

Now, if it was based upon a civilian agromech, but the 001 Primitive version was the first military design, that would be the logical time to slap on the "Werewolf" name.  Having a fondness for cheesy puns, I'd make the civilian base design a specialized herding 'mech called something like the Shepherd, to make wolf-in-sheep's-clothing references.

...Spell it backwards, give it a foreign language translation of 'Werewolf'?

000 will be the Shepherd one :D

What about the Rim Worlds Republic connection?
Any other idea?

And 004 would be O'Neil "reinvention" of this 'Mech.
