Would you guys like to see an upload/download file system on the forum? It would only be accessible by forum members, but it might make accessing things like maps, images, etc., a little easier.

Thoughts?

I can probably also modify the function to work with Membergroup-specific objects. It's not my modification, but I figure if I'm adding it and hardening it for security, I might as well tinker with it.

We use an attachment system that simply connects attachments to individual posts. It's not exactly search friendly or organized to say the least since attachments are linked directly to posts.

A download system is more akin to a personal file system for forum members. Uploads can be organized and searchable, while membergroup restrictions can prevent unauthorized downloads. Guests of course will be unable to access files in a download system, which also helps with forum security.

Does that help a little?
